Thanks for sharing. A lot of memories. Good memories. However to read the text I had to slow the video speed and still had to rewind.

Very interesting about the AEC's, they would not have been diesel when 'new' but if they came from the UK in CKD form with engines they (probably) would have had 4 cyl. petrol Tylor ones. Out of interest The Londonderry & Lough-Swilly Rly. in Ireland had a couple of the Walker ones although I don't think they had the 'articulated' bit.

Great vid thanks, can't say I've travelled on any but the last one. Unfortunately it's the worst train I've ever been on... So uncomfortable, with a crappy layout.
Wondering why you didn't include the vlocity, even though it's in the background?

Well done. However you've forgotten the McKeen Railmotors (1911- 1919), which were actually the first internal combustion engined passenger vehicles on the VR. You also need to leave the text on the screen for longer so we have time to read it.

      fernald10 Hi,
Thanks for that, I was not sure what their power unit was, or the years they were used- i thought they were converted to passenger coaches within a couple of years of their introduction to service. I will edit it and then re-upload it with the McKeen Railmotors, and also allow for more time to read the text.

rOkKsTaRr2371 The engines were a McKeen design. Started by compressed air, they were a straight-6 in vertical configuration, with the engine mounted transversely across the car, generating a maximum of 300 horsepower (220 kW). There was no reverse gear. The engines could be run in either direction, and to run in reverse, the engine had to be stopped, the camshaft shifted by the motorman to the reverse cam set, and the engine restarted in reverse.

Would have been better with time to read the text between pictures....
