Thanking God for his Faithfulness this blessed day as we celebrate Her Majesty, the Queen Elizabeth the second’s 70 years Platinum Jubilee. God Save the Queen and bless us all. It is well that ends well. I have seen her enjoying the Chelsea Flower Show today. 24/05/2022 dresses in pink. She looked lovely. May she be blessed by God with a long life for she is a blessing amongst us.
I have no religious beliefs but have nothing against those that do. This has to me one of the most beautiful hymns ever. Just heard it at our magnificent queens funeral. An absolute fitting to our Great Elizabeth II. Wonderful 😢
May the Monarch of a gracious people in the United Kingdom . lead them always in the straight and narrow in life , to know and live in the Glory of God through Christ Jesus.
The day Thou gavest, Lord, is ended, The darkness falls at Thy behest; To Thee our morning hymns ascended, Thy praise shall sanctify our rest. We thank Thee that Thy church, unsleeping, While earth rolls onward into light, Through all the world her watch is keeping, And rests not now by day or night. As o’er each continent and island The dawn leads on another day, The voice of prayer is never silent, Nor dies the strain of praise away. The sun that bids us rest is waking Our brethren ’neath the western sky, And hour by hour fresh lips are making Thy wondrous doings heard on high. So be it, Lord; Thy throne shall never, Like earth’s proud empires, pass away: Thy kingdom stands, and grows forever, Till all Thy creatures own Thy sway.
This hymn is so beautiful. Even if I'm born and raised in Sweden, hearing the melody as a child has left its marks. I can't hear it without looking for the text to sing about the Kingdom of God.
It’s St Martin-in-the-fields, off Trafalgar Sq and opposite the National Portrait Gallery. Wonderful church. I’ve had the pleasure of singing evensong there a few times.👍
@@alanmerryweather5781 I often feel the same way. But I think it depends on how the descant is sung -- they are so often too loud and screechy. If performed with a light and mellow tone, so that the descant floats gently on top of the main melody, the effct can be musically satisfying. This one is not too bad, though I would still prefer a lighter touch.
@@user-Strong.Trinitarian I was Christian when forced to recite this hymn after spending the weekend with my parents having attended a British boarding school. I am entitled to my opinion and this hymn brings back awful memories. Today I am PROUD to claim that I am an ATHEIST.

And today this song shall be sung at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s funeral 🕯
Yes. So the queen heard this song already ❤
In loving and devoted memory of our beloved Queen and Prince Consort 🇬🇧 ✝️
This magnificent hymn has remained an all-time favorite for many christians. Glory to God who gives us each day.
Surreal seeing her standing there after I watched her very own funeral with this song playing.
Rest in peace.
It's bitter sweet seeing Her and HRH Prince Phillip together here. I miss her but at least they're together again.
Listening to this the day after the queen has passed away is especially moving. Eternal rest grant unto her Lord. Amen
It brings me to tears. It reminds me of my father. He used to sing it. He passed away a few months ago. ♥️🕊
May God of all comfort be with you. I know how it hurts.
God saved her well, the Queen! What a beautiful hymn sung at her funeral!

We always sing this at matins

I like this song so much. I often listen to different versions of the song
If our funeral arrangers follow our wishes, this hymn will be sung in our church at both our funerals. Soli Deo Gloria!
This is one of the grandest hymns
Nobody does it quite like we Brits do.
Except for us Kiwis!
I agree with @Perrygallo
Amen 아멘
Thank you and God bless, from Sri Lanka
A great hymn that gives me peace
What a beautiful church. If I were royal, I'd much prefer this to that dark Abbey.

Excellent in every respect!
It's so holy and hopeful hymn that I cannot but be together with those who never cease the song of holyness.
A great hymn
love that hymn!
Nice descant! 👌🏽
I have always disliked descants. Would that they were sung during the first verse to get them out of the way!

it's sweet
Which church is this ?
Absolutely gorgeous! But why didn't Edward sing along? Does he have something against that hymn, or music, or religion?
Anyone know what occasion this was, please?
Yes, sir. It was the Victory over Japan anual service in St. Martin in the Fields, London.
God's hiding place
The most depressing hymn ever composed. The lyrics are AWFUL.
What do you mean? Are you Christian? These humans GLORIFY GOD, no hymns arebad
