    1. Can you identify one (1) artwork that is a national pride and glory of the Philippines?
    - The artwork made by Mr. Juan Luna called " Spoliarium " is one the national pride of the Philippines where in this painting subject is the history depicting the dying gladiators in roman circus. This artwork has been kept to the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila. Furthermore, According to Dr. Jose P. Rizal, The Spoliarium, "embodied the essence of our social, moral and political life." where in it show that "Humanity unredeemed, reason and idealism in open struggle with prejudice, fanaticism and injustice." Therefore, I consider this as one of The National Pride and Glory of the Philippines not just because of the art design, but the content of the Art.

The painting features farmers set on a rice field, regardless of their gender, they are all together working under a bright sunny day. Due to the usage of nature and pastel colors the painting gives off a light visual weight, an irony to the heavy toil and labor that rice planting entails.

The artwork of juan luna, which is the "spoliarium" I chose it, because the creator of this artwork is of Filipino blood. based on the painting we can see that there are people who are at war or they are at war. there is a man lying there as if unconscious and killed in battle, this artwork reflects that this is what happened to us when the spanish conquered us. Many died in the war. This symbolizes that even if you just look at this painting, you will know what happened to our Filipinos at the hands of the Spaniards.

The title of the painting is “!The Black Nazarene of Quiapo” by Ricarte M. Puruganan (1937) and it’s made out of oil on canvas.
The Quiapo culture of praying to the Black Nazarene is depicted in this painting. It represents the solidarity of Filipinos and their shared prayer throughout the procession.
