Thank you for the ideas you presented here. I was looking for something exactly like this to let the Vala weapons be slung. I feel you with needing a magnifying lense for modeling and whatnot, I need a lot of light to paint fine details, getting old sucks.
Just a tip with the chord material, depending on what it's made of (nylon or other synthetic materials), you may find that putting some heat on cuts will melt the fray and let you pinch it to clean the edge.

Went to hobby lobby Today and picked up some 6mm rings and connectors in gunmetal to match the 1/8 deerskin black chord I found in the jewelry section. I've made up 4 slings so far and I think they are fantastic.

Awesome! Your welcome, I thought it was a cost effective way to really enhance the look of the figures. It also is another way to pose them for action shots and be able to hold more gear. I am always trying to figure out a way to make my figures hold more accessories! Haha

By chance, have you tried to put those action force vests on any of your joes? Im curious if they fit or not.
I have not tried yet. I think I have seen them done and should work on Duke, Flint and Firefly. I think Roadblock and Gung-ho figures are too big. I will have to try it soon.
