Sailing my hybrid Hobie Pro Angler 14 - Florida Fish Hunter

- 06/03/2020 - Knowing the winds were going to be high and coupled with weather predictions of a cloudy / overcast day with temps in the low 80's and the weather radar showing rain prediction to the south of my location made it ideal for me to go out and ride the wind! What a fantastic time I had! I love my Pro Angler but I can hardly wait to get my recently acquired Hobie Tandem Island repaired and back in the water for some true action packed sailing fun so stay tuned for future upcoming sailing content!

Just got my PA14 ... waiting on the seat and the drive. Bought it for my 50th and looking forward to some off shore fishing, I may have to grab a sail now after watching this ... your yak is set up beautifully !!

I really like sailing my PA14 too. I recently purchased a new Compass. Added the AMA Sidekicks and it's a blast to sail.
It truly is a lot of fun. I'm in the process of fixing up a Tandem Island which I'm sure is going to be a blast to sail for sure! 😊👍
floridafishhunter If the economy recovers, and I can transfer to Florida, I'll purchase a Tandem Island. I grew up in South Florida, South Miami. But my company has 3 airports where we have a maintenance base. Tampa is my first choice. Hopefully United/Continental will recover

Wow, your kayak setup is awesome. Haven't any1 else that sail like that. Yur vdo edits r gr8 as well. For a sailor, Uxre thinking outside the box. U're setup 2 have a gr8 h2o adventure. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.

Great video! How did you get the picture-in-picture with the overlaid compass/speedometer? Which part of your set-up does this?
Thanks Stephen! The speed and gps information comes from video that was recorded with the gopro then I use the Dashware software to extract that info from the video and create the overlay. www.dashware.net
I have the Hobie Pro Angler 14 as well. I was looking at your equipment and besides the Hobie sail what other attachments would I need purchase to make it work.

I would definitely recommend either buying or making a furler for the sail. Outriggers of some kind help a lot especially on super windy days because the last thing you want to deal with is flipping the kayak. A main sheet riser to keep the sail line above your head would be real nice to have but not necessary (you would have to make that one and I have a how-to video for that as well). While in a hurry to leave the house last minute I forgot my main sheet riser that day which is why it's not shown in the video...
