Very gentlemanly of you to serve your fiancé. She sounds lovely & knowledgeable. I understand her right to privacy & appreciate you, Derek, for respecting it.
Every time we go to Las Vegas, we never miss going to Lotus of Siam, we go at least 2-3 times for each visit for which it is around 4 days!!! Unless you go to Thailand, you cannot find anything that is better than their food. The broth in both Beef Noodle soup and the Wonton soup is very flavorful, but our all-time favorite is the spicy thai ribeye salad, we get this with each order. You are worth the trip each time!!!
As someone from Laos (Thailand's neighbor) where we have many dishes that are similar to or the same as Northern Thai/Issan dishes, Catherine is right about the fried Issan jerky. Savor it in smaller bites! It's great with both sticky and steamed rice. Your jaw muscles got quite the workout, haha!
Derek I have missed the last couple of months 😢 Getting caught up with this being the first. Wow all your expressions were on display. Joyful eyes when you had the rice and the fried chicken. The almost pain while chewing the jerky. Also wondering where the prawn went only to find the Siamese twin prawns. Thanks for reminding me why I subscribe and am a member to your channel.
I ate there once because it was "an open restaurant around the corner from me" when I was staying at the next door Four Points (they temporarily relocated in 2017 after a roof collapse). Was surprised to learn it had such a reputation (sat at the bar, talked with staff) and had an amazing meal, totally worth the reputation.
The prawn shells themselves are my favorite part of that dish. Fried so perfectly it’s almost like eating potato chips. Love lotus of Siam.. love watching you two also. Your fiancé has such a soothing voice and quite the way with words, always a pleasure to watch (well, hear her) you guys.
The jerky, roughly translats into "one day sunlight beef," is normally marinated and dried one day (in sun) before frying. This is why it's tough. It's normally eaten with sticky rice and other popular northern dishes like papaya salad, larb, and spicy chilli sauces in northern thailand. Since I'm Thai, wish someone was there to explain the dishes a bit more. Hearing you try to speak Thai made my ears twitch, Derrick.. Lol. Thanks for the review, I look forward to going there with my family next time we're in LV!
Hey Derek! Big fan of your channel here, but I suggest you try Chuchote. I think it's the best Thai food I've ever had! Everytime I visit Vegas, I have to go there at least once.
I have eaten at Lotus of Siam almost every time I have visited Las Vegas. I have always had a great meal there! There are 2 locations, the original on East Sahara Avenue in the Commercial Center & the 2nd location on East Flamingo Road. The 2nd location has a full bar, while the original location has beer, wine & sake. The 2nd location has a much better decor & atmosphere than the original! My 1st visit to Las Vegas was in June 2007. I have lost track how many times I have stayed on the Las Vegas Strip.
Another Great Video and restaurantb recommendation! And your interactions between you and your fiancee, and your personal touches, have kicked your videos up to the next level! Thanks again for sharing!
My fav Thai dishes are: Pad Thai, fresh shrimp Spring rolls (not fried) n Tom Yum soup.🥰 Gna have to checkout Lotus whenever we travel to Vegas in the future.😍 Ty for sharing. Enjoyed it.
Stuff like the jerky your supposed to rip it in pieces and eat it but every restaurant does it different regarding the size. Usually Thais get different appetizers like that and chill with some beer.
I hope you and your fiance ate the shells of the Garlic Prawns. The shells taste like garlic-flavored shrimp chips. It's the best part of this dish. If you didn't have any of the shells, then it was $25 wasted. The shells are THAT good.
This is 1 of 2 must go to in vegas. Definitely get the crispy rice and I suggest the duck panang. Dereck, humble request for my other favorite spot: golden steer.
Nice looking meal, Mr. Derek. However, such a small order of steamed rice with your beef rib curry. Seems like more of an order for one. Ask for another (steamed rice) next time.
Derek, every now & then it would be fun to watch the 2 of you attempt to duplicate your favorite recipes at home. I just KNOW you can make good shrimp at home for less that $32 bucks for 6 shrimp. (When on sale at Albertson's I get 2 lbs of 16-20 size for $10.) I enjoyed your at home "LOCKDOWN" videos......but then I even enjoyed seeing what was in your fridge. :)
Lol, love it! Food looked fantastic! Enjoy your other half's input. She seems low key and calm. Now dont take it wrong should she put a bib on you! 😉 keep up the good work!
Well he FINALLY tried to serve his fiancé atleast... Kinda gentlemanly but should do it more often my friend... Seems like a nice person and I've enjoyed watching ur videos since becoming a sub :)
I've eaten there and the food, although pricey, is outstanding! I like spice and usually order at a level of 5. I find that level is very spicy and more authentic to Thai foods. My friend thought he was tough and tried spice level 10. His mistake! He couldn't take it and gave up!😆
Derek, I never get tired of watching you eat and how much you love food... especially fried chicken! Beef jerky is tough as it is when you buy it bags at the supermarket. Rice is always my favorite. Great video, thanks. Going to get Thai for dinner! Yum!
If you are in Vegas over the weekend, you should come check out the Front Porch at Ellis Island. Going to be a bunch of Vegas vloggers and fans there the night of the 17th.
Um-hum, um-hum, um-hum...pssssst.....Derek, cut them in halves and pour coca cola on them next time prior to digging in. I have a feeling there won't be a next time for them jerky. At 9:43 priceless major accomplishment frame. Thanks for sharing! Love your vlogs!
My GF and I sat at the same table you and your wife sat at in this video, next to the wine wall. Their curries are really good, so was their pad thai! Unfortunately the prawns were kinda pricey so maybe we'll give them a try next time just because of how good they looked!
So, are you supposed to eat the fried shrimp shells? I assumed right off that they pulled the meat out and fried it with the shell. I know they like to eat shells but i dont so its cool they give you a choice.
Derek is in good form here, made a joke( Siamese twins) and was the last one to catch on to it! Great show. Catherine plays straight man to the Top Bananna DEREK "all you can, Vegas!"
I am with you on the Garlic Crispy Prawns, however, huge fan of anything coconut from Thai including their homemade coconut ice cream and tom yum coconut soup with lemongrass.
I like the whole in the wall thai reasteraunts better. My girl is thai. Born in Issan now lives in Bangkok. The Thai Chille is very popular they eat it with most meals. Sauces come with everything. What no Pattaya salad.its a must.
Always like your vlogs Derek, looks nice, but amazed at how expensive everything is? Thai and Chinese in UK is a pretty cheap meal out. Probably £20 per head for starter main and a drink, about $26? Maybe it tasted twice as good? Lol 😂 look forward to the next one
There are such wonderful dishes - should return for Duck Drunken Noodles...beef jerky not the easiest to eat. The only suggestion is not present dishes without lifting...may be a better image, i;m worried about spillage
How did you propose to your fiance?? Congratulation!!! This video is the first time I've seen and heard your fiance. You two are very compatible. She is very articulate and gives good foodie advice, taste tips and it is always more satisfying to eat a meal with loved ones and friends.

Derrick and Catherine, you two are adorable. I love your channel.

It's a good thing Catherine is there to keep you in line, and keep you from eating everything in one bite! Lol
I’ve eaten there, it’s awesome!!!!!

I discovered LOS when I lived in LV. The Seabass thai style would be my last meal. It was incredible !
I hope you and your fiance ate the shells of the Garlic Prawns. The shells taste like garlic-flavored shrimp chips. It's the best part of this dish. If you didn't have any of the shells, then it was $25 wasted. The shells are THAT good.
Liked this video. The food looks really good.

You are the best Derek. Loved the review!
You eat the skin attached to prawn basically a Thai chip it’s amazing there
This was one of your best videos. This was so fun to watch. Thank you .
Nice looking meal, Mr. Derek. However, such a small order of steamed rice with your beef rib curry. Seems like more of an order for one. Ask for another (steamed rice) next time.
Your expressions are priceless!
Lol I read this comment just as he took a bite of the rice 🤣😂

Ide never thought i would sit n watch somebody eat. i dont mind mr. Derek because he travels and u get to see the diffrent kinds of foods that exist
Siam's gonna be a witness to the ultimate test of digestive fitness.
This grips me more than would a muddy old river or reclining Buddha.
Thank God I'm only watching the meal, controlling it.
Lisa Wright One night in Bangkok, brilliant! I bet Derek loves that song!
Hi Derek, what a great vid as usual....keep up the good work
The Krispy rice looks good. Thai food is delicious.
Your food vlogs are so fun!!

Do you recommend the original location over the new?
Derek you are suppose to eat the shell on those prawns. It's like chips
Ha, Best Thumbnail Ever Derek! Good video too, food looked tasty, thanks and take care.
Derek, I never get tired of watching you eat and how much you love food... especially fried chicken! Beef jerky is tough as it is when you buy it bags at the supermarket. Rice is always my favorite. Great video, thanks. Going to get Thai for dinner! Yum!
Oh my those stuffed chicken wings look sooo good. I’m on a mission now to find some in Denver area.. some good ones. Yumm
If you are in Vegas over the weekend, you should come check out the Front Porch at Ellis Island. Going to be a bunch of Vegas vloggers and fans there the night of the 17th.
Great and funny video. Was hoping if you can go to the Capital Grille. Would love a review of that place. Thumbs up
This is hilarious! All that chewing on the jerky! Too funny! Glad you were able to swallow! My jaw hurt watching you chew! lol. Great video!
Depends on other places you will eat but the stuffed wings are also known as ‘Angel Wings’
The food looked really good. Nice video. Take care. Thank you
Try wrapping the crispy rice in lettuce and put some cilantro. Very good
That jerky looks amazing. I love super chew dry beef like that. Anyone know the name of that dish?
SprtWlf9 According to their menu (looked on Yelp, but you could just Google it), it’s called Nua dad neaw (Issan style beef jerky)
@@wendyki704 thanks so much. 😀
I ordered my dishes at level 6 and 7... some were perfectly spicy, others were a bit much for me but still delicious. 😋
Great video as always. Enjoyed ❤️👍🏼

Been wanting to try this place for a while - did you go to the original one ?
Tuk Chang I think this is the original location on Sahara. The one on flamingo is temp closed
Derek, you’re supposed to eat the shells off those prawns, too. The shells are coated and just as delicious as the shrimp! 👍🏼
Always fun watching you eat
The video was entertaining and pure comedy.. lol...
I am going to Henderson next week. Any recommendations? Anyone?
You have to try the Northern Larb next time.
Glad to see the original location back up and running.
I ENJOY WATCHING YOU AND CATHERINE YOU ARE SO FUNNY WHEN YOU EAT FRIED CHICKEN I LOVE IT TO
So, are you supposed to eat the fried shrimp shells? I assumed right off that they pulled the meat out and fried it with the shell. I know they like to eat shells but i dont so its cool they give you a choice.
We found “Lucky Thai” on Silverado Ranch and Bermuda. Very good Thai restaurant, but small menu, and small restaurant
We go there too. We also like Archi's Thai and Kin Pow Thai both on Eastern
Lucky Thai has bomb food!
Mmmmmmmmmm.....my mouth is watering watching you eat the food and enjoying it so much....lol!!
Derek is in good form here, made a joke( Siamese twins) and was the last one to catch on to it! Great show. Catherine plays straight man to the Top Bananna DEREK "all you can, Vegas!"
Derek - where would you say is the best fried chicken on the strip to you?
It used to be Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken at Bally's, but now that location is Dave's Hot Chicken. I need to try it!
Great video Derek. Thank you.
Oh my stars! How did you eat that much? Silly question. Do you take left overs home or do you eat out enough you leave the leftovers
Derek I absolutely love your videos 👍👍😁
Where is this located in Vegas?
I am with you on the Garlic Crispy Prawns, however, huge fan of anything coconut from Thai including their homemade coconut ice cream and tom yum coconut soup with lemongrass.
Omg, you and the noodles, love it.

Great looking food. Very light mocktail. Looks like fun.
Come on Derek... a true restaurant reviewer would have tried the blood chunks :) The food looked very appetizing !
