I love how the outside mirrors fold back like so. That reduced the chances of the mirrors breaking if you accidentally drive too close something and in most cases the mirror would come off the car. I've had that happen. It's damn frustrating!

Unless I come across an affordable Nissan NV converted van...I'll go with this one!

I'd purchase one if I could afford one. This would make a great taxi for those who use wheelchairs.

Always amazed when I see this vehicle touted as a purpose built wheelchair accessible vehicle. No mention is ever made of wheelchair drivers.

I have a friend who uses an electric wheelchair. She's probably the most independent person I know. I think it'd be great if this were available for those who depend on wheelchairs, but also like to be able to drive themselves.

Is there a video showing how the oil change is done?

I've heard of the MV-1 Mobility Vehicle. I've never actually seen one in person. Does it accommodate electronic wheelchairs, or just manually operated wheelchairs?

Are they still being produced to this day, or have they been discontinued?

@@jasoncarpp7742 Jason, there are two dealers within 30 miles of my home in Denton Texas, and another one in Oklahoma, which is a bit of a drive, but available. This is a much needed vehicle, and I hope that they stay in business for many generations to come! Check ebay motors for these type vans up for auction.

@@YRofTexas I agree. I'm from Gig Harbor, Washington, west of Tacoma, Washington, and South of Seattle, Washington.

I remember when I lived in Chicago, I saw quite a few of these.

I wish these had a passenger seat for people who want this car but not handicap features.

YUP. Go to their main website, and have their search engine locate dealers in your area. I'm going to get my expenses in line, finish paying off a few bills, then will buy one. Can get a used one for under 20k, if you do your research. Check Ebay auctions, where I found a few. Good luck!

Abou as stylish as the back of a bus!

    • @YRofTexas
      @YRofTexas 5 років тому

Who cares about "style" when you are desperate to find something that can fit your needs and make your life a little easier? I don't care if the vehicle is striped green and pink, if it takes care of our needs and is dependable. Its not about looks all the time, is it, Kim Kardashian?

we have 3 of them with our service, the only issue is the lift sometimes stops working automatically.

    • @YRofTexas

When we get ours (which will be used), I will be fine with a manual lift. Probably preferred to have manual because it would be one less thing to break down.

Too Bad .. Not good for Northern States. Should be AWD or 4WD! RWD not desired for snow driving!

This company went out of business and now I can’t find anyone to service my van. I have a broken windshield my air-conditioning doesn’t work and my ramp is acting funny. If anyone reads this can help please let me know.

It does look like a lot of the interior appointments are carried over from Ford..even the remote key fob is a Ford product..the dash gauges all from Ford..the AC controls do not look to be made by Ford..the steering wheel and controls Ford supplied...So maybe Ford has the parts you need??

AM General acquired vehicle production group. The original MV-1 was based on a Ford Crown Victoria platform.
      You can order parts here:

Toyota have been making purpose built wheelchair vehicles for at least 10 years or more. So has Nissan. Toyota has much more choice avail able too.

    • @YRofTexas

The problem with going with that route, is that it is much harder to find the mileage, options, maintenance level, warranties in the model and color you want or need. Its near impossible to find a Nissan NV that has been sweetly converted to a HC van. They are like hotcakes and go fast. And, overpriced; did I say that? Just gets frustrating. Would rather just go thru a manufacturer who can custom make one, or find a used one that is very close to what you need.
