I never get tired of watching this! They were so young and so alive. So ahead of their time and brilliant! (Can you imagine being there, witnessing this incredible phenomenon happen, and being a part of it!) Simple Minds is quite possibly the greatest band of the '80s. Who would have known they'd be here 40+ years later, and still knocking it out of the ballpark. I'm 62 years old, I missed out on so much, but I'm grateful these videos are here! 👍❤️

I had this single when I was young. My sister loaned the record to some boyfriend, never saw it again. So I went out and bought another one. That's how good this song is.

Regarding my vinyl collection: I lost a few loaners, and when I stopped loaning, theft became a problem. People can sure be $%^& sometimes.

1985 watched the FA Cup Final Man Utd v Everton , then jumped a train to London watched Simple Minds at Wembley Arena, got to know a few backstage guys. Went back to the hotel a few beers , and had Breakfast on Simple Minds. .... “Sparkle in the rain” is one of the all time best albums 👊🏻

I love the effect of that synthesizer harmony effect through the song which is very effective as they did from 'Theme from Great Cities'. It is very difficult to pick out a favourite song from Jim Kerr and Simple Minds as they had their very own effective unique style which was never matched by anyone else. Still regularly listen to Simple Minds today.

I started studying in winter 1983/84 still enjoying "New gold dream: 81/82/83/84" and then "Sparkle in the rain" hit the floor. Thorens record player with Denon pick up, Yamaha receiver and MB Quart speakers. Those were the years when HiFi was more important than cars to me. The Thorens is still sitting in my room 🙂
