"Vermicompost is the result of a decomposition process that uses a variety of worm species, often red wigglers, white worms, and other earthworms, to produce a mixture of bedding materials, decaying food or vegetable waste, and vermicast. Farmers cherish earthworms because they not only aerate the soil but also break down organic matter and make castings, which are an essential source of humus.
Vermicomposting is a lucrative business since many people nowadays choose organic veggies, fruits, and other items because they are made without dangerous chemicals; this is why organic farms employ these naturally occurring composts and manures made from animal and plant wastes. Vermicompost improves water retention and aeration, inhibits plant disease, increases soil porosity and microbial activity, and promotes plant development. By lowering the demand for chemical fertilisers and minimising the quantity of trash sent to landfills, vermicompost is also good for the environment.
