I have been slow in tackling this species but now I am fully engaged and love them

Very happy to see this video - always been curious as to this species. I'm kind of border-line with temperature, but have managed to keep a Blue Atlas cedar from seed alive for 7 years. The parks around here have some magnificent Deodora specimens - stunning trees!

I definitely agree with you. I find the needles and colour incredibl;e. They just take a long time to groww and mark very easily.

Very interesting, never heard of the species before but I’ll keep an eye out for them in the future.

Hi Xavier „they don’t like repotting“ - that’s maybe why my little Cedar died some years ago. 🤔 Never tried again. By the way- spruces seem to dislike repotting either. 😅 However lovely trees, like usual. 🤩 Thanks for sharing. 👍 I wonder if meanwhile your spontaneous invitation filled your house… 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💃👯‍♀️😄 Enjoy 😘 Cheers 🙋‍♀️ Martina

Believe it or not - nobody turned up. I think that was because nobody likes Jelle :)

Tie my bonsai down sport tie my bonsai down ha ha 😂Glad you went for the brownish pot the light pot was too big and a bit insipid looking, I like the lovely green pot but I think I agree it should be in a deeper to get more extension growth and to ramify the foliage mass, but we shall see in time if it works in shallow one, all the best my friend.

Thanks Joe. Jelle had lots of good things to say about my collection and helped reassure me that I am actually producing good bonsai using the traditional 'slow' clip and grow approach. It was nice to get that from him. I am definitely planning to find a time to see you and your collection...prhaps even ask a few breakfast questions on film???

These are starting to surprise me as a species - they seem very resilient to punishment :)

I liked the grey one better. I see the tree more in it. The brown one is too prominent. Your tree, your choice.

It was always a hard choice. In the end I was also swayed by pot size. The grey was just a little too large for it right now. :)

They usually do not back bud😢

That confirms what others have also told me. I think the key is to keep pinching growth during the growing season so the extensions don't grow out to long and leggy?
