I'd love to see another video on this! So funny but also full of things that needed to be said on the behalf of the people of Puerto Rico! So proud to be Puertorican!
+Dani Rican Because anyone who claims to be proud of their place of origin but doesn't even bother to write their demonym correctly, is an even bigger ass... And so are you for asking "who cares?"
+Dani Rican "Trying", bebé, only trying. It actually would take a lot more than a bitter loud mouth like you... y ay, ya!
I wish other Spanish speakers were most respectful towards the Puerto Rican way of speaking. Our speech has its own variations thanks to the Spanish, African, and Taino influences, as it happens with the speech from other countries. I don't mock or exaggerate anyone's accent, I appreciate and celebrate the differences between different countries. Why can't you?
Our accent is from the Andalucian or Andalucia heritage, like the Cuban accent we short the words and our accent is strong. Carribean spanish is shortened words very much like of Andalucian form of speak Spanish.
Puerto Rico, being a U.S. territory, is one of the influential and vibrant cultures in all of Latin America. Our food, our music, our accent, our handsome people, our contributions to society. Even though the island is going through a vigorous financial recession you will always see people smiling, laughing, partying, and maintaining positivity as much as possible. ¡Orgulloso de ser puertorriqueño y maunabeño WEPA! 🇵🇷🌴🍹
Suggestion: You should make a video about the "linguistic history" of Puerto Rico. How we still have "taino" words, african words, how spanish has survived even though we have been a US Colony for more than 100 years and how are english words incorporated.
+Leticia Cortes, there's Taíno some words even in English. Hammock, hurricane, tobacco, and a few othes. There's also some other words of Carib origin, like yucca. :)
one thing I need to say about Puerto Rico their people are so damn attractive like I'm not Puerto Rican I'm Peruvian and I visited Puerto Rico for vacation everyone there is so freakin good looking like oh my gosh.
OK, since no one has mentioned it, and you didn't either in the video, I will. The reason the Nationalists decided to fire into the air in congress (they didn't mean to hurt anyone, just call attention to the world), was because for YEARS the USA were killing people in different parts of the island. Not one or two, they were massacres. This is conveniently ignored in the history books. The causes for the action is never mentioned, so I might understand if you didn't know this, many people in Puerto Rico don't know.
Jose Rafael Solis Corps The reasom why your comment hasn't had a response after all this time is within the comment itself. Many people don't know about the subject
otra cosa en Puerto Rico es q siempre estamos dispuestos a ayudar a alguien y hablamos con todos aunq no se conoscan, hasta con los turistas. Eso es algo q me gusta de puerto rico mi isla
I love it how every time there's some actually really informative bit that helps with understanding the seriousness of topics. Totally not crushing on Gabe now. Totally.
I'm half puerto rican, raised by Guatemalans (my mom's side of the family) everything I know about Puerto Rican culture I taught myself. When I found this channel I was so happy, I learn a lot from your videos. so thank you.
I liked this! There aren't many Puerto Ricans in Southern California and it's cool to learn the different culture and foods and stuff. I do have a boss who is Puerto Rican though. I'm gonna asks questions about the boob mountains
+Felipe Ruiz The food is awesomely tasty, if you ever travel to Puerto Rico you will know how good the food is. ps:I should know i live in Puerto Rico...also the food is less likely to cause your heart to explode than american food XD
+mfchimichanga I Don't know about the alien things, but I do know that in the Yunque you can get easily lost and that it has never been explored to the center because it rains so much in there. There is some kind of superstition about the closer you are to the center the more it rains and you will get lost. It was a Sacred place for the native ameicans that lived there, In their mythology there was a god that live on top of the talles mountain in that forest (thats also the center of the forest)... That place is very mysterious... btw Yes i'm from Puerto Rico. Soo yeah i think your brother was talking about El Yunque.
+michelle domenech Jajajajajajaja No te preocupes que mas jibara soy yo que soy de San Sebastian, Ademas eso fue que vi algo relacionado con el yunque ace poco y pude al menos decir algo de lo que aprendí x'D
One more thing to know: Puerto Rico is an archipelago it's not just the main island. Vieques, Culebra, Caja de Muerto, Mona and Desecheo are also part of Puerto Rico. Yo soy de Vieques ;)
I live in Louisiana and every time (happens daily) a person asks me how long I have been on the U.S. I try to be funny respond with an "all my life" and no one ever gets it :( We need to educate people about us.
Los vídeos sobre Puerto Rico me hacen reír porque me acuerdo de mi rutina diaria y contrastan las cosas que digo de manera incorrecta aunque creo que hablo correctamente😂😂😂😂😂😂 (Puertorriqueño by the way✋😁)
just dont go to San juan, it's not beautiful. visit Vieques, Culebra, Aguadilla, isabela and rincon. those are the places you want to go, San Juan is shit with the exception of viejo san juan.
So many people in puerto are really nice (as the video says) and there helpful it’s a great place! One time I was walking to my hotel when I was visiting Puerto Rico and kids I didn’t even know who where playing basketball in the street asked if I wanted to play, very nice people. And when I was in San Juan while visiting I saw the mayor and he acknowledged my family and said hello to us!! It was really cool. And a bartender at a hotel we were at offered my mom and dad free drinks!!!!!!!
People are overly nice there, and one of the hotels I stayed at, they would always open the door for you!! But it was a nice hotel so that could be the reason, and someone offered us money to help pay for a bottle of water 😂 great people there and when the plane landed in Puerto Rico everyone was clapping great culture if someone reading this wants to go, It’s a great place
I want more of Puerto Rico please (im puerto rican) te falto el coquito Los pasteles And much more Puerto Rico is the best place i wouldnt ever like to be from a other place except from Puerto Rico
Weeeepaaa. Que felicidad escuchar de mi gente -- thanks for the support everyone! Wish I could respond to everyone individually today. Les prometo mas sobre PR en el futuro. Y también aprecio los comentarios que se enfocan en los aspectos mas complicados del status "estado libre asociado" que tiene PR, tanto como los comentos sobre el crisis económico -- y claro, el desayuno. It's hard to be hyper-detailed in a five minute video, but keep the conversation going! Dejenme saber lo que quieren escuchar en el futuro. En las palabras de un Puertorriqueño famoso: Mucho, mucho, mucho amor!
Can we talk about how madly in love some of us are with Gabe?? I mean, I first saw him in that one "spicy food and latino people" video, and I just cannot forget how cute he is since then... :D
Am I The Only One That Noticed A Dominican In The Video. The Girl In The Corner Singing Saludo Saludo She Was In The Accents Video With Johana Giving The Dominican Accent Cause Johana Said It Was Too Hard To Repeat So She Brought A Real Dominican.
+BeautyGirl123 dammit, you caught us! We made sure the two people in the front w/ Gabe were PR for sure, but well...sometimes you just need some extras to make a party happen.
So sad PR is a colony. Those guys live by the laws of another country and USA citizens can modify PR laws, but boricuas cant modify USA laws or even vote for president
Parrandas are literally the best thing ever. And the best part about it is seeing the looks on people's faces when you show up to their houses in the middle of the night 😂
+Bastian Videla I really try not to! But it's not such a hard L either, I think the L sound is most noticeable in people with less education. Or maybe it's a regional thing. Who knows.
im sorry but he made the debt sound like its all the US governments fault and in reality its our fault. independence is only touchy because the like 10 percent of people who pro indenpendence are loud and mad at the status. almost half the island wants statehood
Well yea it pretty much is the US' fault. Puerto Rico can't operate its economy like state governments or the federal government. It's not so much as excessive regulation but the fact that there are some things Puerto Rico just isn't allowed to do. If PR had more autonomy and control over the island like state governments do then Puerto Rico would've easily become the Hong Kong of the Caribbean.
Annette Rodriguez I get it b/c im Puerto Rican :D well not actually a lot of non-puerto ricans get it. you just gotta know the reality of the situation. I think moments like this, there is no debate. it's a fact PR has less economic autonomy than federal states and in order to save the lives of 3 million Puerto Ricans living in the homeland it needs to be known that it is not their fault. The US government knows that and they do not care.
When there is a problem you have to accept responsability. I'm not saying its all Puerto Rico fault and if we had more economic breathing room maybe we could manage the debt a whole lot better. But almost all of the debt is Puerto Rico's fault because with the people who have governed the island have done a poor job in fixing the crisis which is why I cam't see how if the people who have been in control now will do a better job independently. In fact i see it going even more catastrophic because then we won't even have the economic boost that we get for being part of the US.
I love my island. I once described parrandas in a story as a moving party that just asks the neighbors for food. It's kind of like a carol but not at all cause you're drunk as hell, playing instruments and most of the songs are about getting drunk as hell and playing instruments... oh and not wanting to stop. Always about not wanting to stop
It's insanely complicated but basically Puerto RIco was a colony under the Spanish, the US fought a war with Spain and gained Puerto Rico as a result, and the last 100 years have been a juggling act of trying to figure out where Puerto Rico stands in relation to the US. The Philippines, another colony we won in the Spanish-American war, got its independence in 1946, but Puerto Rico so far has voted to just stay as it now - not a state, but also not independent. It's weird and not an ideal situation at all, but people of Puerto Rico so far have seemed to prefer the status of commonwealth to that of a state. Apparently a majority of people in Puerto Rico now want the territory to become a state but the governor is against this or something so there's extra complications on top of that.
+Abraham Roel 26 years living here not been rob even ones as for the mexican guy yes if you are not livingin the usa as a legal resident than you need a visa
Mi nuevo canal favorito. Me hacia falta reírme mano, gracias. Puertorriqueño viviendo en Las Vegas desde hace 9 años, extraño a mi isla y a mi gente, saludos.
Man, Puerto Rico is great. Sad thing is that if you're a teenager who's not a rebel well there's not much to do. Shopping, the beach... That's about it... At least for me and my friends...
The last one was so accurate EVERYTIME I visit my family in Puerto Rico and we go grocery shopping for Puerto Rican food to take back to where I live, everyone, especially me, says everything with an accent. Pampel, chastick, walmal, etc😂😂😂
this was actually really informative, gracias! I've wanted to know more about Puerto Rico for a while but like you say -it gets complicated and hard to understand the issues with debt and being a territory :/
Gabe just makes my day. Whether its him ranting about economics or making jokes and sending love to Elizabeth Warren, he just makes the day all the better.
I don't know so many latin countries disrespect Puerto Rico and its people. Please respect Puerto Rico, its people, and I as I respect you and where you come from.

+Dani Rican Because anyone who claims to be proud of their place of origin but doesn't even bother to write their demonym correctly, is an even bigger ass... And so are you for asking "who cares?"
+Dani Rican And you are not trying to control what I do and how I behave right now? Riiiiight.... LOL Aplicate el cuento, pendejita...

Its called a joke 💀 people make fun of every accent same way usa makes fun of other english speaking countries
Puerto Rican Spanish also has a lot of influence from Canary Islands Spanish as well as Andalusian Spanish.
@@n1kk3l9 no, there's jokes but there's legit plenty of people that truly look down on Puerto Ricans and other Latinos for the way they speak.

Talk about the Puerto Rican Area 51 in the mountains. That's what my brother used to tell me anyway. People disappearing and shit.
+mfchimichanga thats EL YUNQUE and it is said that aliens visit the island pretty often... and the CHUPACABRA really exist xD
+mfchimichanga You mean El Yunque? That's supposed to be a big magnet for alien sightings
You the man! Please keep doing stuff about Puerto Rico.
a colony wow wtf still what? is this 1800s
yes how ironic

It should still be a country. It should not be apart of the U.S at all.
gabe, dude, ma frend, mi pana, you MUST have a show of your own in flama, or make one of this DAILY !... so awsomee
So u need a US visa to enter to PR? D:
+Alejandro Lino No, you don't need a Visa to enter in Puerto Rico since it's part of the United States unless you have a foreign passport.
+Christian Gabriel I'm Mexican man, that's why I was asking about the visa
If you have US Citizenship you probably don't need it as well. If you live in Mexico then yes, you need a Visa in order to travel to the island.
If you want to get your wrist cut off to have your watch stolen, then yes you need a passport.
+Abraham Roel 26 years living here not been rob even ones as for the mexican guy yes if you are not livingin the usa as a legal resident than you need a visa
Rum, Ricky, and Recession spot on summary 👌👌👌👌
You stole the Cuban flag.
Lol we shared it
It's that we fought together in war and then we share the flag or something like that
Or investigate the internet
ignorante
You need to know more about the history of the two islands. The flag of PR is the opposite colors from Cuba for a reason.

Gabe just makes my day. Whether its him ranting about economics or making jokes and sending love to Elizabeth Warren, he just makes the day all the better.
