- This video from Accord Productions reflects on 70 years of history at the Miami Orange Bowl. We put together this little montage to remind sports fanatics of all the tradition that took place in the sacred, since demolished stadium. From the OB's history in the early 30s... to the University of Miami's first 'home' game in '37... the Dolphins perfect season of '72... several Orange Bowl Classics... Miami v. Nebraska in '84... Winston Churchill... John F. Kennedy... you name it, it probably happened at one point or another.
Full video runs 67 minutes and is in 16 x 9 Widescreen format. Video is available at www.allCanes.com. Questions? Email us at sales@allCanes.com.
I lived across the street from the orange bowl as a kid back in the late 1950's . Me & cousins would sneak in the high school games and always go Thanksgiving Night to watch Miami High vs Edison. I was at the Gables vs Miami High 1965 football game with my good friend Richard Mahshie ( we were 16 years old at that time ) along with 40,000 people !! Great Memories Now It's Gone Very Sad
This definitely brings a tear to my eye. Some of the greatest college and pro football games I ever watched were played here. But the memories will live forever.
Some iconic games were played there I miss that stadium. I was in high school in 85 and I am a big Dolphins fan I told everybody that the Bears were going to lose big on Monday Night. The 81 playoff game was another classic, The John Lennon Game on Monday Night.
So much history in The Orange Bowl !!! I will miss it.😞
That stadium had a glorious history and amazing memories contained within its facade. From the Dolphins to the Canes to numerous Super Bowls to a myriad of Orange Bowls, every time I came to Miami, I always made sure to swing by this stadium and spend some time admiring it and reflecting upon one of the great jewels this country has ever had.
One of the great football stadiums. RIP
i remember my parents being barely able to pay rent nor provide food earning $3 an hour but everytime there was an event at the orange bowl we would rent out our parking spots and we use to go eat thanks to those fans i used to love home game for different reasons.
Thank you for sharing this video. A great way to remember the "Old Lady". I hope she will always be remembered.
GO CANES!!!
Great stadium, and great games played there.
It's a shame that the OB and Yankee Stadium are both torn down. I was fortunate enough to see a game (and a good one and Don Criqui was announcing also) at the Orange Bowl Miami vs. Penn State. At least it had some of the greatest games ever DOLPHINS/CHARGERS 81 , 84 ORANGE BOWL, FSU/UM Rivalry, Superbowl 3,5,10. The terps come back and fluties pass in 84. I wish they could rebuild it, too little too late R.I.P. OB
It was a dump towards the end but it was our dump and we miss it!
I would still rather watch a football game there, than anywhere else.
The City of Miami is stupid for tearing down the Orange BOWL.... Canes aren't the same SINCE...
I agree, it deserved better I could have preferred the pace remodeled into a shopping mall or an IMAX theater at least. Oh, Pyrowolf19 down there YOU ARE RIGHT about the first part of your comment, but it was the most amazing place history wise despite it been due to shut down. It deserved better, at least the site should have gone to something better than the Marlins Mall Ballpark.
I agree I use to love hearing the games from right outside the house. Clearly
Don't blame the City. Blame the UM BOT for not renewing the lease and making financial concessions. UM is an underground river of money. The BOT didn't give a shit about the stadium. And the funny thing is now the UM athletics department logo (the "[]__[]" symbol from the early 80s) is used for all of UM's educational and medical activities. Shameful.
@@Wolfen443 not a shopping mall those are dead
@@zoso73 n still till this day the president doesn't give a shit bout thier athletic departments no money being dumbed in any of the sporting goods for any team. If they keep wit the same shit the Canes will be trash for who knows how long
well done as usual
the 1972 undefeated miami dolphins !!
Seeing Big Eight Conference schools like Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, and Oklahoma in a January bowl at the Orange Bowl.
1984 Orange Bowl Miami 31 Nebraska 30
1994 Orange Bowl Florida State 18 Nebraska 16
1995 Orange Bowl Nebraska 24 Miami 17
R.I.P Orange Bowl stadium
F*ck the New Hard rock Stadium! I remember the good days getting sun burnt beyond belief like a real man watching Dolphins kick ass. #GoGators #Rip #OrangeBowl
Nice video.
Awesome!
The first Orange Bowl was played in 1935 between the University of Miami and Manhattan College. To save money, the Manhattan College team took a three-day boat ride to Miami.
I thought it was demolished on September 4th, 2006.
I want that stadium
This stadium 🏟️ should have been saved as a historical monument... Never be another one like it...
1 WORD OB
Imagine the stadium now with the beutiful modern sky line of miami
Da O Range bol!!
im not even a canes fan but i have to say, tearing that stadium down was a real dumbass thing to do. I'd never been to that stadium before and always heard it was a real shithole when it was demolished. But they shouldve rebuilt it or remodeled it somehow. theres a lot of history to that land and if the city were smart, theyd rebuild the place back. if i were to ever visit miami, that wouldve been one of my 1st destinations to see. what a damn shame.
U just don't destore history like that
They did rebuild it, but they turned it into a state of the art ballpark called, marlin park.
OU spent a lot of time in the stadium, not so good results though, Florida teams damn tuff.!
😥
Fucking Marlins Park
