Thank you for this very good video, I need this to teach how to rebuild my own windows 10 laptop and all when went well for me after, watching this video - cheers and thank you again.
Very nicely done - thank you! I have question on a related topic. Years ago, I created a bootable utility CD. It boots to the command line prompt of Windows 98 SE. From there I run some disk utilities that are on the CD as well. As you have mentioned, many if not most newer machines do not have optical drives, so what I would like to do is make a bootable USB drive that does the same thing as the CD. You might wonder as to why I want to keep it as Windows 98 SE. Firstly, it boots up quickly as compared to using other Windows versions like PE. Secondly, the utilities I use run as text-screen programs and run well under Win98 SE. Thirdly, the memory foot print is small, and therefore ideal for messing around with older boxes that have limited RAM. Mostly what I use these utilities for is fixing messed up hard drives. I can disk-write to absolute tracks and sectors on the disk. I have found this to be necessary on occasion when changing a box from Linux to Windows. Some versions of Windows do not touch the MBR area of the disk even when doing a system format. On those occasions, I have found it necessary to write directly to track 0, sector 0 and zero them out. The the MS Format used during the normal Windows OS install will now work correctly. I remember how funny it was to see the GRUB boot loader come up after freshly converting the box from Linux to Windows. Thank you for considering this question.
can't seem to Finish this! at the end of the second tool (ISO) download it says we need more space! I used a 30gb usb then tried a 100gb hdd too so I bought a brand new 16gb usb and guess what! still it says "we need more space" grrrrr any help would be appreciated tx.
buen video. agregar que rufus tiene la opcion dual al presionar las teclas alt+e sirve para mbr y gpt good video. add that rufus has the dual option by pressing the alt+e keys it works for mbr and gpt.
Very good video thanks. It is unfortunate that Microsoft still refer to burning the iso file to a DVD because for a year or three the Windows 10 64 bit iso will no longer fit on a standard dvd! Sometimes it is a struggle to use Linux to make a bootable W10 flash drive. In this situation you could download the 32 bit Windows 10 iso which will fit on a DVD. Then install W10. Then you could use the media creation tool to make a 64 bit W10 flash drive. Sure it is a long winded way of doing it but if you are a Linux user wanting to get back to Windows it does work.
Hey there i loved the video, do you have a video on how to get back onto a game once your banned, im not sure if its a hardware ban or an IP ban ? how do i check and whats the fix ?
@@Britec09 yes because Microsoft sucks. If I use Lynix OS as secondary I don't void the warranty on a new laptop. I don't have problems with desktops because I can use another hard drive or partition.
Great video Thanks allot Is it possible to customise Windows 10 to make it look a lot like windows seven. Blind and visually impaired people use screen reader to work on windows. Windows 7 LAy out was a lot more accessible in terms of the menus etc. Perhaps you could make a video if this is something you’re interested in doing. Thank you again for the great content
Google Windows clamshell for Windows 10. I did a similar search and have had Windows 7 look, menu, et cetera. Good luck because I switched to Linux Ubuntu Focal Fossa and beginners often like Linux Mint.
Am I right in thinking that if I go with the MS route then I can use Secure Boot but not with the Rufus method. Secure boot must be enabled in the bios before installation of the OS?
Just reset my Windows 21H1, any reasons why the BIOS menus are unmoveable? Been working on it for 10 days and any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Aregato gusaimasu.
please help, Everytime i install windows, it always installed With legacy and not UEFI. My CSM is on by default in bios, do I need to disable CSM before installing windows 10?
CMD is better BTW Because it doesn’t modify windows data And I don’t trust rufus and Universal USB installer And i know how to bypass TPM and … manually And i know how to make “ei.cfg” thx to your video
Hello, I was wondering if I could still make a bootable win 10 usb flashdrive even tho my laptop has some virus poppin on it? Coz I am planning to make one for my new pc build.. will it do any harm on my new pc or it will be fine?
sorry, please explain to me why i'll need to do the iso then rufus rather than just flashdisk right away on the windows media creator. i made a windows 10 installer on a flashdisk and it won't boot from the flashdisk, will it only work from windows if it's not the iso-rufus method? Thank you!
Hi My Usb drive has a total of 16gb.May I know if I can continue to use the available free space of about 10gb after I have created my windows 10 bootable Usb Drive which only take up 4gb of space?
I got it know it somewhere. You are not supposed to use the USB for any Data Transfers after Making it Bootable. But if it's urgent and you don't have an option. Try it.
I wouldn't risk it when USB drives have become as inexpensive as $8 for 8gb and not much more for 16gb. Check out Amazon and if you or someone else you know has Amazon Prime, you don't have to pay shipping.
Handy if you install Linux "over" Windows 10 and want to go back. Also nice to help someone non-tech savvy replace a corrupted version and they never set clean Restore Points. Think of old grandparents although I am thinking of a relative who lives in the moment and has a If it ain't broken don't prepare for a time when it is, hmm, "attitude."
if you want to play with the registry in windows 10 while running it in hyper-v . you use the windows 10 that's on your usb. You cannot do any actual irretreivable damage .
2 Methods for creating Bootable Windows 10 USB
The MS version is way easier by the looks of it. I should do it someday - never know
Tried all sorts of tools over the years and finally settled on Ventoy. Allows for efficient use of larger flash drives. Britec made a video on this last year.
This one's a useful tutorial, Brain.
@Jojo Rabbit Rufus is rather an advanced tool, to burn grub bootloader and make installers for Android and other OS.
@Jojo Rabbit That's what I figured aslo

Thanks for doing this. I’ve never used a usb stick to install windows but you made it very simple.
Many thanks! Was just thinking about it and here comes your video!

Thanks so much for the video Brian. No nonsense and right to the point. Liked and subscribed Sir!
thanks for this! it works! i can now finally boot my lenovo thinkpad t14!
Another useful tutorial on making a windows Installer.
Glad you think so!
Great video as always 👍
Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us 👍😀
Nice video you went over some stuff that was new. do you have a video on how to make s portable windows flash drive?😅
Good video Brian.
1 - install Ventoy on your USB key
2 - copy the windows ISO on it. DONE.
3 - Add any other ISO you might need. --> This is the practical solution.

A useful video! Thanks Mr. Brian.
Very welcome
Nice one brian, thanks. Don.
Just to be sure, is the Ruffus method an entirely different way to go about this or is this whole thing the same process start to finish?
can't seem to Finish this! at the end of the second tool (ISO) download it says we need more space! I used a 30gb usb then tried a 100gb hdd too so I bought a brand new 16gb usb and guess what! still it says "we need more space" grrrrr any help would be appreciated tx.

what's the pros and cons of using media creation path or rufus path?

Yeah, me to.
Yess I very choose Rufus
Awww man I was hoping to magically get a free USB too 😏🤡👌

If anyone is of need of the info, almost all Sony laptops are 32bit. Some exceptions, but there it is
thank you sir
Can we Install Windows 10 on a USB and thereafter use this USB as the HD for Laptop....? Since my Laptop has no Internal HD
Am I right in thinking that if I go with the MS route then I can use Secure Boot but not with the Rufus method. Secure boot must be enabled in the bios before installation of the OS?
Thank You.👏👏
My laptop struggles to run windows 11 it takes about an hour how can install windows vista or windows 7 because Microsoft doesn’t support it anymore 😢
So the green bar reached the max and still don’t get that final message, what to do?
Good job.. could an external seagate HD work ?
Thanks a lot
What a coincidence, I am editing similar video 🤣
This tool does not work.
I don't get the option for a USB stick, I get a splash saying my C drive needs more free space ! WTF
try reformatting the USB drive with Rufus
Why not skip the ISO and just click USB drive...the first option?
in the file system( Rufus) which one is better Fat32 or Ntfs ? and why? thank you
Mine is getting an error code 0x80072F8F - 0x20000 after I open it up. can't do anything

Does this work if my laptop has a dark screen and no image appears any ideas how to get my old laptop working again I read it might be missing files.
Bring it to a repair shop.

How to make bootable pendrive in efi gpt fat32 format if iso more than 4gb in size
Which one is faster ?
Is there a reason why one method is used over the other.
one is officialy supported so i prefer that one but not really
1. Using Microsoft Media Creation Tool
2. Using Rufus third party tool media creation tool
what is the point of doing this? 🤷♀️
Well there are many but if you ever lose your boot HD or SSD you can replace it and rebuild from this device.
