I traded my 1290SAR for the standard 890 Adventure. I’m 57, 5’8” with a 30.5” inseam and it was time to stop fighting the taller bikes. I’m digging it in this honeymoon phase.
You didn't take the 890S offroad and review it for us? I will never own an R model, as I'm only 5'9, but I will be taking the S offroad in a big way. I currently own a 390 ADV, and I take it places that most people wouldn't, and the 890S would be no exception.
If I ride frisky off road,like in this video...............I destroy the back tire in 1500 miles,and that's on a DR650...............I wonder how long a back tire will last on the 2021 890-R Ive ordered?
40 to 50kg difference I believe. I own a 2019 690 and enjoy it as a lightweight adventure bike. The 890 is a better traveler but I find the 680 tolerable. The 690 motor is surprisingly smooth for a single and has plenty of cruising power.

Sigh ...The KTM 790 Adventure was already the perfect bike. Why did KTM need to add 10 pounds to the bike via a larger engine (and not really needed the power to weight ratio was fine q/the 790). Yes I own a 2020 KTM Adventure S and I love. If KTM needed to improve the 790 there were a few tweeks that would not involve adding a larger engine and weight. But alas, is'nt that the way it always seem to go. I mean motorcycles get larger as do cars for reasons that make no sense. If anything KTM should have found a way to shed a few pounds off the 790 not replace it with a heavier bike. W/E

It's to bad the engine sounds like thrashing machine compared to the t-7. And hard to get over the fugly headlight. The t-7 also is much easier to ride if your being lazy. But i still bought 1.
@@BlazinBlades Mine spent a total of 3 months in the first two years at the dealership.clutch fault.numerous TFT screen.finaly blowing fuses then rear light permitaly on... hope the multistrada is better
The people who have reliability issues are the ones riding the 790 harder than anyone else. I say that as a T700 guy and I will confess, the 790 R is the ultimate off road weapon in the right hands.

Weight wise , how would you compare this to a Enduro 690R?
