I have watched way too many unboxing videos..but none with a greater location. And trust you to make the unboxing fun to watch. Thanks for the great video. Cheers.
I am considering the Ecoflow, but the cost is still in the way of going ahead. Especially with a fully functional system already installed. But it is great to see how technology is developing. Thanks for the great review. The reverse charging manual setting might be a problem, if you don't have a backup to start your vehicle in remote places. Might be too risky for my liking?
@@willemhutten6585 regarding the backup there is a setting in the app to keep some power in reserve, so you can always get the vehicle going. But I don't like running my starter battery flat, so I think a better solution is a battery protector.
Thanks for an insightful video & the "Bush Sparky" install !! .......I own the previous model without the app / 110Ah storage / 1400 W continuous & 3500 W start up AC capacity / various charging inputs & multiple AC / DC outputs (paid ZAR 7500 / ballpark - USD 400) . Thing just works & saves a huge amount of space . Don't have the same DC draw that you require, (10A DC max. capacity on my unit), but it is more than capable of running an average camp site / basic "week or weekend warrior" overland vehicle requirements. Located the ecoflow behind the passenger seat (strapped to chassis - don't want the thing bashing around in case of an accident of when off-roading) & hard wired a compact 10 output DC fused distribution box in the rear of the bakkie (pickup for our non SA folk !!) to the ecoflow via an anderson connector. The added bonus of having AC outputs without all the faf of additional wiring / inverters / potential failure points is an added bonus. Seriously.......... can't fault this excellent product. (oh and when I get home - it's used as a portable "generator").
Thanks Chris. Sounds like you have the perfect setup for your needs. Yeah, if you just need to run a fridge and charge some phones and things, then 10A charging is good enough (plus a solar panel if you stay in one place without driving for long periods).
That smug look of your when you get the first cuppa. Priceless. When are you going to do a review of all the 100s of different mobile coffee machines you have gone through?
This is great. I have a few ecoflow products and all work well, the software is world class. If you have a temp setup in a SUV like I do, this is probably the best solution out there.
Good question. I think it will work well in a trailer (although I have not tested this myself). Super fast alternator charging is not as important in a trailer though since usually when you hitch up you drive for a while. The AC and solar inputs are probably more important. So maybe instead of the alternator charger you can rather just send 15A from the vehicle into one of the solar inputs (see my previous EcoFlow video). If you want to use the alternator charger you would need to run a fat cable to the rear of your vehicle and fit a plug that can handle 70A to connect to the trailer.
Very informative video. Based on your experience with this product would it be possible to connect the alternator charger to the service battery and from there charge the eco flow delta max as opposed to charging it from the starter battery? I already have a service battery charged via dc-dc charger from the starter battery. Thanks
@@journeyonwheelsSG I think this would work. But it will only charge when the vehicle is running and the Alternator Charger senses the increased voltage from the DC-DC charger.
Interesting video, but a question that I allready have had longer is based on more of your video's: how do you manage to get so many predatorsightings? Do you have tips?
@@IddoRoscher 😂 best advice I can give is: get up as early as possible, stay out as late as possible, look out for nervous prey animals, and talk to other drivers (especially guides).
I had to laugh at the unboxing mishap. Naturally, the laws of the universe decree that the box 'cardboard fastener' would fail when the unboxing was conducted on camera by a professional cinematographer. Always the way. I really like the EcoFlow alternator charger, but I do wish that EcoFlow had made it to work with any solar charger (portable battery) of any manufacturer as I believe that it only works with EcoFlow products. If I'm wrong on that score, I hope someone will correct me!!
You are correct. It currently only works with certain Ecoflow products with XT150 inputs. I believe in the future they might sell a cable that allows you to connect it to the XT60 solar input on a wider range of power stations.
The solar inputs take XT60i connectors 2 of the pins connected. You can use a standard XT60 and it will work, but it will limit the input to 8A per input IIRC. This is so the unit does not blow your vehicle's fuze if you charge it using the cigarette socket in the car.
The fact that it is an all-in-one unit is a bit of a concern in the bush. I mentioned this in my first Ecoflow video. It is theoretically possible for it to fail entirely. In contrast, if a component of a traditional dual battery system fails, then the rest of the system still continues to function. As more people start using EcoFlow power stations for overlanding, we should get an idea of how reliable they are when exposed to heat, dust, vibrations, etc.

My gripe as well. Not to mention the unique connectors for panels etc. Things happen in the bush, and there's no way to repair on the fly...
