Is teachers give less marks in nit rourkela or it is normal ? actually many students say there is academic pressure in nit rourkela
1. No, They give marks based on your performance and as per formula of relative making. So, If you do well then you will get the grades.
2. Yes, They are very strict in respect to academics. I feel they should be because a student must show academic brilliance to get the degree.

Bhaiya, my GATE score is 523 in the Instrumentation paper. It's very difficult to get into the VLSI program at NIT Rourkela with this score. The next best option is NIT Durgapur, where I can get into the VLSI program. Should I join NIT Durgapur, or should I join NIT Rourkela for a different branch like Signal and Image Processing, Electronic System and Communication, or Electronics and Instrumentation, which might still offer good prospects for VLSI placement?

Tier-3 college won't be able do to do anything. You need to take your own steps.
If you can afford 2Yrs M.Tech time then i would suggest to go for Gate preparation and get atleast 700+ gate score so that VLSI top college is possible.
You can follow any of my Roadmap video for vlsi job to get the complete details.
Also, If you don't have time then start preparing right now and learn any programming language of your choice along with other basics and HDL and try off campus for an internship. You may also think to join PG Diploma CDAC courses as those are certainly better than private coaching. This way could help you get into job faster.
Third option is also there and it is because Engineers are versatile in nature. Hence, You may also go for Bank or SSC job preparation. Basics maths, Logical reasoning , GK and English knowledge would be required there. Mostly engineers crack all those exams so that's also a possibility and two years is enough time.

Bhaiya how to build a project how to decide a topic and how to go about on that topics what all resources to use to complete our thesis
1. You can choose any topic of your, your supervisor's area of interest during your mtech. If it's an internship then try to choose a project aligning with company work.
2. College would provide all the costly required tools / resources if thesis is done under college.
A few small components may be required to buy from Market if it's a hardware project.
Every thesis topic would have it's own specific way so i can't give a general answer. It would be based on domain of topic such as Vlsi/embedded/ communication etc. it would be based on nature of project like hardware or software or both.

CSE, ECE and ECE (VLSI) are very good branches based on Placement perspective. So, Yes you can go ahead with VLSI B.Tech branch.

Basics to pdhayege hi lekin advance communication like 45, 5G Air interface, Wifi, OFDM ye sb nhi hoga.
Learn to aap NPTEL se by default kr skte...uske liye btech me course hona jruri nhi. Aur ye college to college depend krega ki kisi ne vlsi btech me communication electives rkhe hai ya nhi.

Both are for sure better than NIT Jaipur based on academics, placement record over the years.
Surat and Kurukshetra are comparable and usually and almost similar placements. Surat was able to call NVIDIA as well (for 2022 as much as i remember)
Also SVNIT's location is the epicenter of city and less students (21) while kurukshetra had 35+ and hence less competition in surat.
Based on all these factors I put Surat above.
However both are almost comparable and both are better than Jaipur.

2023 hta de to almost sbki mil jati hai vlsi me Internship/FTE.
Isi wjh se 2024 wale batch ki situation thodi khrab hai. Halaki 2025 me jo graduate hoge unme se kaafi logo ko internship mil gyi hai.

Kuch logo ko kbhi kbhi ppo offer nhi milta....but at the end almost sbhi ko oncampus nhi to Offcampus hi mil jata hai.
2023 wala batch hta de to 85%+ logo ko oncampus hi mil jata hai.

I graduated in 2018 electrical domain.
Does this much year gap matter?
And I recently started job in openshift so should I leave this job for mtech?
Yes, You would have questions regarding this much gap in the interview but all are allowed to sir for placement.
There is no such gap criteria to sit for placement. It's only how the company takes it.
If your current is giving 10LPA+ then mtech is not required.
Otherwise you may do risk analysis and make your decision.

Yes, It is difficult to handle one domain academics wise and prepare for other but people had successfully done that in past.

Sir, should I make my profile in analog/digital? I'm interested in analog(because it's challenging) but seeing NVIDIA being such a force makes me rethink if I should really go for analog, what is your opinion being in the industry? Please help, thank you.
See Analog seems challenging to me as well because:
1. I don't really like it.
2. Comparatively less jobs than digital so it makes it more challenging.
If you have very much interest in analog then you may go for it.
But if you can handle digital and as such no severe lack of interest with digital then digital vlsi job would be easier to crack.

Hi sir, I have done my BE in EEE and I have got VLSI and Embedded Systems in NIT Rourkela through CCMT 2024 so I wanted to ask how many good core VLSI companies visit NIT Rourkela for placements? because in the college's placement statistics there are very less number of VLSI job offers and I want to work in VLSI field only.
2023 was a bad year for almost all colleges. However, NIT Rourkela usually has a visit of 8-10+ very good product based Companies either for internship/FTE roles.
Sir mai below tier 3 college se btech kiya hu... I haven't studied properly 4 years(professors unavailable), I'd 7 backlogs in total but somehow i cracked gate within 1month of studying... Will i survive vlsi in mtech? Well i can get rourkela vlsi according to last year cutoff
Agr 1 mhine me gate crack kiya hai aur fix hai NIT Rourkela vlsi to abhi se suru kr do.
Hope Network theory aata hi hoga tmhe.
Mtech se phle analog, digital electronics completely aur edc ke basics pdh dalo. 1 month ka kaam hai agr 8-10 hrs daily pdho.
Phir M.tech vlsi me advance vlsi aur HDL coding seekhte hue project kr lena.
Aaram se ho jayega.

Yes, it is not top NIT. That's why I suggested to choose TIER-1 colleges only.
@@Singh-Rajveer our seniors were placed with good package in good companies, our juniors have got internship at intel, infeneon. Just 2024 batch suffered market recession
Covid time was exception and intel's ppo conversion rate is not good.
I am not saying that don't choose TIER-2 colleges but these colleges would always come with a higher amount of risk compared to TIER-1 colleges.
Like for your batch: you saidno placement
Similarly in TIER-1 colleges also placement was down last year but still decent opportunities were there.

I had got surat in previous counselling. The thing is people are wasting years doing nothing ,after 1 2 years you should join and not waste many years.

Vaise tho bhaiya, EEE mein electronics is also including right? Then it should be easy for an electrical engineer like me to go into vlsi. Did your btech college didn't include electronics part in the curriculum?
Mine was EE only. EEE has proper electronics part while EE doesn't have any specific core Electronics subject.

Bhaiya this year i will be joining gnit kokata ece branch.
So before that i thought lets see and take all the resources to learn ece eubjects as i can't use book because i dont understand from it 😂
So that why i thought to see lectures but bhaiya the promblem i am facing is that i checked nptel video of ece subjects but hhaiya in nptel there are more than one lectures on each subject and hence i am in confusion because in some some topics ar wincluded and in one other topics now i am not able to understand what to follow
Some subjects are
Digital electronics
Electronics devices
Communication and etc.
And bhaiya after seeing my collage syllabus some topics of that syllabus is not there in lectures of nptel subjectwise .
So bhqiya it will be great help if you pleaee tell me resource to follow for all subjects of ece as per gate and collage syllabus

No point in preparing for vlsi and embedded both. However it's possible because around 60+% of coursework is same for both side.

I have told you the pros and cons of both.
Like KKR have more number of students.
Yet, Both are almost equal in vlsi placements.
So, It's totally your choice. Dono equivalent hai....jhan aapko convenient lge whan se kr lo.
And You must go in special round and try for Allahabad VLSI. You never know the Counseling surprises !!

What is placement scenario of mtech in control and automation in NITR
Very few core control companies come.
Few manage in software (Trying off campus) and few try in vlsi.
But overall placement is avg.

Sir I m confused between core-vlsi and data science or AI/ML
Can you tell me where is the more scope and what should be decision making criteria?
All fields are very good and all will require the best of knowledge to get the top high paying jobs.
AI is not that much in India at least for next two years and don't confuse data entry/ data science as AI role. So, VLSI or Data Science would be good choice because number of jobs are more there.
AI is the fastest growing field but the absolute number of high paying jobs are not present in India.
And inbetween data science and VLSI

Gate syllabus to get placement in core?
You are already in TIER-1 College so I hope every domain company would visit.
1. You just need to complete the electronics basics. (everything in btech first and second year.)
2. Choose one particular domain and read advance subjects and few projects in same.
3. Learn one programming language as well of your choice.
For cracking internship exam how much knowledge required?like gate knowledge enough or extra efforta needed?
Gate knowledge+ basics of vlsi design for optional test.
Verilog and Digital ic design, VLSI design flow, testing and verification aspects knowledge for interview.
Additionals:
Computer architecture: May be required if front end team is taking interview.
VLSI Physics design: For backend
Do you have any idea out automotive electronics or vlsi companies working for automotive electronics?
NXP, Texas, STM, Renesas etc.

Bhaiya kya joo vlsi ki company nit rourkela mein aati hai woo btech in ece walo ko bhi opportunity deti hai for on campus placement yaa sirf mtech ko hi opportunity milti hai.
B.Tech m bhi vlsi placement hai, M.Tech me bhi aur M.Tech dual degree me bhi.
B.Tech CTC is usually 2-3 LPA less and that's the only difference.
iits me toh ye 1 year internship nhi hota hein na?
Aisa koi rule nhi hai. Depend krta hai koi particular IIT allow krti ya nhi. Sometimes college allow krta but particular supervisor jo aapko guide krege unhe manjoor nhi hoti ki internship kre.
So, Everything is dependent on college management and your supervisor.

IISC and Synopsys are doing this. Both are great at their own places and as per the description of the program it looks promising.
Students ki fees bhi sirf 2k/5k hai to koi hefty amount bhi nhi hai. Learning purposes se le skte ho. Lekin han bs knowledge aur tools access hai. As such koi placement support nhi aur same knowledge free me bhi mil jayegi aur agr tools tmhara clg hi provide kr rha to koi fayda nhi hai investment ka.

Effectively zero because of Mediatek stipend and M.Tech stipend earnings.
Otherwise approximately 4L is required

Usual ordinary paper: 63-65

Hi bro , mprf in iit guwahati or vlsi in nit Rourkela, which is better?
IIT Guwahati would be better choice as per me because of higher reputation of college and Microelectronics subjects are present in MPRF so you may convert this branch almost similar to vlsi by choosing proper electives
Just check the academics of MPRF in IIT GUWAHATI before final decision

So, If you are interested to go in digital vlsi then:
1. Either you need to prepare by own if you choose Guwahati.
