- This is a deep analysis of Rockstar Games as a company. I talk about what they have accomplished, what they have done since their inception and how they present themselves to their consumers. At the end I answer the question if they really are trying to kill off their older games in the name of profit. The video will not do anything really, I am just shouting in the aether, but I just wanted to talk about it. I can talk a lot more on this topic and if you are interested in similar videos, let me know.

It is disgraceful we don't even have Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories on modern systems. We need GTA IV on modern systems too. Not to mention they delisted the original PS2 ports for those dog shi- 'Definitive' games... It's an insult to us older players.

I won't. For one thing I don't even have a ps5 and I found gta 5 very mediocre and not as good as gta 4 and San andreas and certainly not the masterpiece that people make it out to be, so I'm not as hyped as everyone else is for gta 6.
Exactlyvwhat I've been saying. Gamers today just need to have something to be mad about.. Even when their complaints are legitimate, they just don't know when to stop. Like the world forever needs to kiss their feet. Rockstar sucks, Konami sucks, etc, but they NEED to keep making us new games

I grew up playing their games and i adore them. But instead of wishing they'd change, I just appreciate what we got and have moved on.
There are plenty of other fantastic studios and games to check out.

I don't understand this. Rockstar is a billion dollar company. Remastering the older games will cost them nothing in the grand scheme of things but will gain them much more rep and respect and even money.

Not only the older GTAs but every single one of their titles before GTA 5. No compatibility fixes for the Max Payne Games or the Manhunt games on PC but they still sell them on their Steam page.
And only midnight club game released on pc was the second game.

It's like they expect their consumers to just accept the low-effort crap they put out now. Hell, the LCS PC port was far from perfect but it can be passed off as an official PC release.
You're absolutely correct. People will buy 6 and either forget or not even know about the f--kery they've done to the community. It's a real shame. I feel there has to be a place both for a company tomake money and treat customers right.

That is if the game turns out to be good, but there are concerns about the direction of the writing, and it is also confirmed the game will be released unfinished and that they will add the rest of the content through updates.
GTA 6 is going to be the biggest F-U we have ever gotten from R*. Just you wait. From what I've seen that game is going to be a HUGE disappointment. The amount of videos content creators will make covering the disaster will break the internet.

I wouldn’t say they’re killing them, but they definitely don’t care as much about them as they do about GTAV, GTA Online and GTA VI.
The last 10 years they have gotten incredibly greedy and anti-consumer, we can see that by the re-re-release of GTAV on PS4, then PC, then PS5, and the Trilogy Defintive Edition, a half baked lazy cash grab which 100% worked out for them.
They say they care about us fans but in reality they don’t, look at Red Dead Online’s community, they got treated worse, all in the name of profits, Red Dead Online wasn’t making nearly as much as GTA Online so they canned the major updates for it.
Rockstar/T2 sounds just like Warner Bros Discovery. They remove classic titles from their services in favor of worse and newer content.
So Dimitri Rascalov is complaining about old GTAs, how adorable.
Things like this is why piracy and modding is ethical and on the rise. Rockstar can suck it
Someone else said it many years ago, but Rockstar has lived up to their branding, 2 decades ago they were on top of the world now they're washed up trying to put out games that look good, but aren't as fun.
They squeezed everything they had on rdr2.
And i think after finishing the behind the scene work for VI, they left the Original members from the 3D era no choice but to leave.
They think short term, i don't belive that the project after VI will have "that magic".
I wish that some of the minds that left from a big studio (arkane, rocksteady, rockstar, tryarch as examples,and i'm sure that there are alot of talented individuals, for example the lady who worked on the ps3 era uncharted titles just showcased an interesting project, and she has the recipts to generate attention) have found a place that didn't collapse under it's success.
Btw rockstar was always crazy, but rdr was the place for the real passion they have for storytelling, as the games prove.
For me III, VC and SA will always be the best GTA games. That was my childhood and what I grew up with. I'm sure I'll play VI when it releases but it will never make me forget or stop playing the original three.
You know 3 is good to me as well. I bought another Ps2 to have that feel of it as well.
I remember until 2013 whenever i saw the "grand theft auto" logo, the first thing I thought was "immaculate". Damn i miss those times
The gaming industry has been sabotaged and robbed from their original developers. It's the reason why so many games are so soulless even though we can create literally anything with the current technology. I expect GTA 6 to be fun to some extent, then later on it'll suck.
That’s why I love Minecraft. Mojang knows mods keep the game alive so they embrace it, they even hired a modder as a developer.
My guy, Valve had done it earlier with Counter-Strike dev. CS was originally a mod for Half-Life.
I just realized R* stole the character switching in GTA V from Driver San Francisco. You could press a button and swap into other vehicles on the road as another character driving. Don’t believe me? Driver 1 and 2 were 3D in the 90’s when GTA was 2D top down. Then GTA 3 basically makes a better Driver game while having a mission killing John Tanner. Nuff said
They also basically abandoned the definitive edition too. There hasn’t been an update to it in a while. And they removed the working trilogy from steam
I have GTA Underground on my Computer. You’re still able to install it to this day. It will just never update or get better, but you can still play it.

To this very day and in the future i'm still pissed at Rockstar Games for not giving GTA VCS any chances when it comes to new console ports. LCS got the luxury of being not just available on mobile but also on PS3, still to this day it can be bought from the PS Store. VCS however was crumbled up into a ball and thrown into a bin. A mobile port doesn't exist, a PS3 release existed but was eventually taken down.
As a kid i was obsessed with VCS, i've been waiting eagerly to get my hands on a PS2 followed by the game. Being able to swim in the waters of Vice City was mind blowing to me and the soundtrack was one of my favourites.
What about GTA Underground project that had been "stopped" by T2?
They should have made the Definitve Edition with all 5 original ports of the 3D universe games, relicensed all the music and added mod support like Fallout 4 has on the console. That's all they had to do and it would have done wonders for the whole community and Rockstars Reputation.
Gave people who missed out on the older games a chance to try classic GTA, gave returning players mod capabilities to mix up the experience also would have gave recognition to the modders and their work.
Didn't need updated graphics, but they could have still done it if there was an option to play with the original versions.
Rockstar would have made millions from almost nothing.
Thats exactly what they are doing with online and VI so sadly they have no reason to care or change for the better.
Its still frustrating though they dont use their community to do basically their work for them.
Even having them do Bethesda styled paid mods would be better than wasting so much potential.
In defense of the devil though; they dont actually own the engine the 3D games ran on
(but then again they do make billions so it would be easy for them to buy renderware from EA).
Also they don’t want people making mods where you can play vice city because they want people to play it In gta 6. They want it to be nostalgic and new for most people. Imagine if everyone just played a vice city mod and that’s one of the big things about your new game, is going back to vice city after so long
No matter if GTA 6 turns out to be great or not, it simply being set in VC will stop me from enjoying it as it will remind me of the classic game they ruined with the Definetive Edition.

You know what sucks is the intro in the definitive edition shows the better PS2 version which I think they could've put something in the main menu to select the older version on all platforms
I’ve always loved and supported to play Games that R* Games have made/published. The first game I played was Gta III back in the day at my cousins house when I was way too young for it. After that I’ve been hooked and it’s fun to play different titles and switch around to not get burnt out from the series.
I’ve only played on PC sadly so I can’t complain on stuff that has to do with consoles because I haven’t played any.
I know that people lost respect when they released Gta III, VC, and SA back in the day at 10 years anniversary. And those versions already had plenty of bugs and glitches compared to OG ps2,xbox,PC versions.
But I loved them because they finally got released to Mobile devices so I could access it easier when I couldn’t access my PC.
The downside is when they made so it was the only version you could play if you got a new console so it was harder to get the OG ones.
I lost my respect when they released the Definitive Edition (Defective Edition) for III, VC, SA. Because at that time they finally decided to remove the Original ones from Digital Stores and that made me lose it 😂.
I’ve had plenty of other issues with Game crashes and bad game support because R* never updated older titles, but at least I’ve got plenty plenty plenty help from the AMAZING Gta/R Community for making mods, patches and scripts for better gaming experience and that’s why I didn’t suffer a lot because PC is perfect when it comes to that.
The only reason Gta and other R* titles doing well is because of the community. Without it R* would be bankrupt a long time ago. And it’s sad R* don’t treat us well when we all spread love and help to make the game better with mods etc that will help them in the long run and it would benefit both parties because they could sell more copies if they could just think with their brain. I also can’t just blame R* for it because T2 interactive is also behind it with how’s things going with the company.
I just find it sad that they’ve sent Private investigators to modders houses and pressed a lot of lawsuits to take ordinary people down who don’t got a chance to win over a multi billionaire company.
Like imagine if you are passionate about something and you show all the love and creativity to make the thing you like even better and you receive the biggest punch in the face from it. That would make me lose it.
R* and T2 Interactive is never the same like it used to, things have changed, I know it’s hard but we in the community must stick together to get through this tough times and hope they change and learn from their mistakes. ❤

You could get it from Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. I think it's like $14.99 on there. You'd get GTA IV & Episodes from Liberty City. Overall, you're getting 3 in 1 for $14.99
Buy an old copy and an Xbox
Just get the Rockstar launcher and buy GTA 4 for like 19.99$ on it and download and play. I played GTA 4 on a Alienware Laptop it works fine and decently although some cutscenes will be choppy and a bit laggy which one time for me continued after the cutscene but overall, it is fine now. If aren't satisfied with it, then you can get it with mods.
I think without the old GTA games I can’t see how you can like the new games at all. GTA had a style it was like living in a mafia movie and if rockstar thinks GTA online is gonna be there forever then just wait till the servers get shut down and everyone starts shitting on 5
I find it so disgusting that rockstar games would just abandon the old games leaving player and the community to make mods to get them fixed and to run well they out of nowhere for rockstar to just start attacking modern who where just trying to make the games better which risk refused to do them selfs

and to answer your question at the end, i agree with you they literally go out of their way to make playing older games more difficult which is just a very scummy thing to do its almost nintendo level bs. It feels like they are a bunch of ungrateful jealous children who would rather get rid of their "competition" so they can be on top without having to do anything, instead of doing a better job they attack others who do a better job than them just so that they wouldn't have to put in effort. I love how Rockstar, a multi-billion dollar company can't be bothered to maintain or preserve any of their games that aren't GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Redemption 1 and the Midnight Club games still aren't on PC, you can't play vanilla GTA III, Vice City, or San Andreas anymore because you're stuck with the busted "Definitive" versions, Manhunt on Steam has anti-piracy measures enabled by default, and even games like GTA IV, Bully, and L.A. Noire require fan-made patches to work properly. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 and their cash cow GTA V they have neglected. Red Dead Online has been starved of new content, and GTA V hasn't received any DLC. The only thing they care about is GTA Online because it makes them the most money.
I hope GTA LCS is keeping same with San Andreas.
Its crazy how modders put more love and passion on the older gta games, you literally have millions of modding communities that either put patches that make them playable or mod it entirely to make it fun, you might think take two would be impressed and say thank you for putting effort into fixing our games but nope instead they sue them and hire a mobile dev to work on it and destroyed it to the ground.

I grew up playing the PC versions of the GTA 3D Trilogy since when they came out at their respective times and always enjoyed installing mods and do various funny changes to suit my personal taste. GTA III and San Andreas are the games that I still play the most to this day, the former being for how much I was highly anticipating its release on the PC when I read articles of it in the German GameStar magazine back in 2002, and the incredible impact it made on me upon playing it for the first time when it came out (despite having a rather very poor PC at the time that resulted in poor hardware performance), and the latter for all the mods and cool stuff that exist for it.
After what T2 did to us when they brutally repressed us through legal action, and with the release of their so-called "Definitive Edition", was when I rightfully decided to abandon the GTA series for good and say a very heart-warming and heavy-hearted goodbye to a series that I had known since I first read magazine articles about the original game at the time I first got the PlayStation in 1998, before playing the demo of the original a year later, and even playing the [German-only] demo of and grabbing hold of GTA2 on the same system roughly another year later.
They also went woke, yusuf ruined, scared to say the word. Imran fired due to "bUllyinG" he was mission designer and humour writer. Gta 5 ps5 re release had stuff censored n removed. The list goes on.
An employee who revealed a lot of stuff even said Rockstar went to shit while doing V, they wanted to be less controversial. Straight up became the people they've made fun of before.

I have a different story with Rockstar, I have enjoyed all the old game, and I think you're right about how they're destroying them. But to my point of view, I am mad at Rockstar because they killed RDR2 Online ! I was enjoying it so much for about 2 years and then dead silence no more update nothing…. That game had so much potential

Try GTA: Stars And Stripes its the successor to gta underground. It brings the entire USA into one game including the og VC and LC maps, bullworth from bully, carcer city from manhunt and many other cities
They have a lot of employees but none to work on the older releases. They have a lot of money but none to renew the music licences. If it wasn't for us who love this series, the old GTAs would be abandoned houses crumbled by their owner honestly.
Also bully is possible to play on pc. I played it on my steam deck

They even abandoned their most recent game red dead 2 and it's online mode so to even think they'd do anything with the older titles is just hopeless
i will always enjoy and play the older gta games no matter what happends i mean almost all gtas from 3 to 5 all the way(except gta advance and chinatown wars those are like top-down view which is not my style ) anyways i got winxp retro pc and i usually enjoy gta vice city gta 3 gta san andreas and gta 4 original editions no mods at all since its on winxp

GTA V already has a "definitive edition", it was literally remastered to Gen 8 consoles with updated graphics and added features.

Back in the day the Rockstar was focusing to release games for CONSOLES... This was also killing some old titles.. I mean.. i have no idea about the "...... Stories" games but the normal ones.. By the way.. the "Defective Edition" just buried the OG ones for Twitch Streamers.. And somehow Rockstar assigned this "Duty" for Grove Street Games..

I havent touched the GTA Community in i think 3 years now, and god, I feel so empty and disappointed coming to look back and see that its just gone completely quiet. No more old GTA Fun, but at the same time new GTA's are still in the distant future and gta 5 is basically at a stand still right now. the company "Rockstar games" meant something back in 2013, now people dont care, the youth looks more forward to the next fortnite update than to when the next GTA game is coming out. Its a sad time for gaming. I agree with this entire video EXCEPT for GTA 6, i am excited for gta 6, even though it wont be the same as vice city or 3 or san andreas, I still love GTA. I also disagree with rockstar forgetting about the "old gtas" they forgot about GTA 4, TLAD, and TBOGT aswell! Also I am so happy you mentioned that gta tbogt was the mix between old and new, I swear GTA TBoGT is the perfect GTA game. I wish it was longer, Vice City is my favorite out of pure nostalgia and blind faith, but if you asked me "if you could only play one gta game for the rest of your life, which one would it be?" i would say "the ballad of gay tony."
Curious. I think that gta 3 deviated too much from gta 1, gta 2 and gta london. The removal of the overhead camera, the introduction of 3D graphics and the 3rd person camera seems to me like a obsession with realism. Leaving behind the goofiness of gourangas and kill frenzies to rely heavily on things like plot and the atmospheric somber tone of early liberty city. I really miss being able to run over a line of Elvis impersonators.
U should also done a video on Nintendo, or "Imperial Japanese Video Game Company", with IJA's soldier face replaced with their logos... They had really totalitarian move when it comes to Western consumers.

1. I couldn't care less about the old 3D trilogy. I rather pirate them with the retail PC versions than on Steam or whatever that Defective Edition anyway.
2. I'm still mad they haven't even bother remastering IV. I remember them saying they were planning to do it until the DE controversy came. IV with RDR2 graphics is my dream remaster but hey anyone can dream.
3. I wish Rockstar could've at least added a mobile port to VCS but I doubt that because of Phil Collins, but hey they can enjoy their cash lying around though.
To be honest i I don't hate the definitive Edition, it ran smoothly for me exce0t a few bugs here and there but i wish there would have been an option to either have the new or the old look of the games .
The bigger in my Opinion is the lack of dedication and respect for the old titles , we never got a VCS Port for more recent consoles , the most recent Port of sorts we had was the PS3 playing the PS2 Version or PSvita playing the PSP Version
LCS only got a Mobile port which also is already 5 or 6 years ago which also is the same with Chinatown Wars
We've seen San Andreas for PS2 , PC , Mobile , Ps3 , ps2 version on PS4 , definitive Edition for ps4 and ps5 but we got no proper new port of VCS
Wish Rockstar would bring GTA 1, London, and 2 into the 3D mix (and licence them for major consoles)... That'd be cool. #Rockstar #GTA #GTA1 #GTALondon #GTA2
A full 3D GTA2 remake with modern gameplay and a rewritten basic plot to better connect everything would be so dope. GTA2's world is so unique and it's one of the coolest games they've put out. It'll never happen with modern Cockstar though. It was already a stretch anyways since after 3 they never looked back with the series. Advance did poorly and Chinatown Wars was an experimental product that did okay. The top down classic GTA games will never get the treatment they deserve.

There is no doubt in my mind that you are completely right my friend . although they made great games , they started to go to the dark path that companies like EA have gone through and only thinking of money . And about GTA VI and your activity , i think we should not repeat the last mistake again . i mean giving too much effort to something like GTA ONLINE will cause such a situation . now they even don't care about gta online on pc let alone older gta games and so on . they also did not move their ass to make a pc version for RDR 1 , GTA LCS AND VCS and that is really annoying . and i don't want to talk about shotting down professional modders .
Like what you said in last videos we should not pre order GTA VI and just patiently wait for it and if it continued rockstars damn path (it 80% will i think) you dont have to make any videos for it and throw away your money for it .
there are still a lot of fantastic games that we can play .

We need the gta re lcs mod by ryadica26 completed but sadly rockstar and take two apparently hate lcs so they took it down...
As someone who has the platinum for gta5 gta3 vice city definitive edition ps5 version and soon to have the ps4 edition I understand everything I will do San Andreas platinum as well but they work for us all i have to say is GTA 6 better be perfect rdr2 perfect I don’t want to see anything other than 200 hours of pure gold they better honour Ray Leota.
The older GTA games should get proper remasters not that grove street games bull crap we got but Rockstar has never cared about their past games. It seems they prefer to focus on making new titles. Which it wouldn’t kill them to at least port them to newer consoles. And I’m not talking about getting grove street games to do it, they should NEVER touch any major game series again
I agree that they should make the old GTA games easily available on modern platforms but I also like that they made GTA IV a completely different experience than the earlier GTA games. That’s what made early Rockstar great. They weren’t afraid of trying new stuff at the risk of polarizing it’s player base and they compensated by releasing smaller scale games. If you didn’t like their latest game there would only be a year or so until the next one released. My biggest problem with the newer Rockstar games is that they put all their effort into one game that takes super long to make. They can therefore not take any risks or innovate like they did in the past and the games feel much less fresh.
Yes. They are. As if removing the old GTA Trilogy wasn't enough, they also replaced them with the awful definitive editions made by a mobile game company which makes no sense but also they never brought the stories games to mobile, and also, they cut some content in GTA 4 too. As it had it's online servers and leaderboards removed, as well as some of it's soundtrack, and I have heard about the compatibility issues it had but I never experienced that problem on my windows 10 with any gta even dating back to gta 3, so maybe it just depends on the PC maybe? Either way though, all these are unnecessary changes and so what if they're not perfect, even if theres a problem you can just mod it on launch and keep modding around till you get the right fix. Or at least WHEN you could, as they removed modding communities from gta, which is also a needless, unnecessary takedown that if anything was helping the community because modding made people able to run their games they rightfully paid for and want to play without it being broken or wanting to upgrade it. Losing these to time and bad business decisions is awful just so rockstar can take money from people by upselling games that barely work. It's wrong, it's evil, and it deserves to be brought to spotlight that these great games are being destroyed to market things like GTA Online Updates and Microtransactions, as well as Red Dead and all that stuff when we should have a stable, and reliable gaming experience when it comes to open world games, something Rockstar has been known for since the early 2000s, and being downgraded to THIS? That's just wrong. So I think Badinfos makes some good points here when he says what he says because it's all true, and the GTA community deserves better.
I am absolutely disappointed by how they treated gta 4 and episodes from lc after 16 years not even a ps4 port for those games, they are let gta 4 and episodes from lc rot on the ps3 system while only caring for that mediocre cash grab that is gta 5...

How could they? Non of them have multiplayer beside GTA online and single player part can't be killed. Also Bully can be played easily on pc without touching any settings or mods.

Here are some things that might give an answer to your questions. Firstly, there are royalties, it's normal that royalties expire and if you want to keep using them, you have to pay up, that's why on some ports of the game, like steam there is cut out radio songs. Secondly, during a port, like the port to consoles, pc, you need to rework the code if you're using a language that is more performant and relies on the system itself. Even from standalone to steam in order for the achievements to work you need to modify the code so that they are tracked as expected. About modding, there is a license that we often skip during the first or second page during installation, where it states that we bought the right to use the software, but not modify it in any shape or form, that's why take2 is able to threathen mod creators. Last point, it is perfectly normal for people to chase quality, and for companies to chase profits, and companies are not willing to take the same pay each year, they want to grow as much as possible, and have money for as long as possible, just like valve has enough money to sustain itself for years without profit. At last, if you don't like the product, refund or don't buy it, I see so many people complain, yet still buy rockstar's games.

They unlikely will have the hubris level to think ppl will grudgingly start playing their new stuff if kept from playing the old.
They indeed will b aware that it kills a possible appeal for ppl outside but aware of these comunities, to try out older gta's based on the existing possibility to find the tools, who wouldn't have bothered otherwise.
The most understandable reason is certainly the problem, that the modders u refere to, are not seperable from those who since gta5o began f'ing around n b a big pain in the as for players n r* alike n the main reason of course - those who focussed heavily on buisiness.
Before r* started to play rough with modding comunities, the latter issue caused the existence of a thriving market for cheap ingame cash, unlocked accounts, buyable rp's n all on top of the existing market for mod menues. Obviously they were what allowed that to work cuz now any1 who bought it could make a fortune with no more stuff than the menue, a paypal profile n some word of mouth aka social media. It's prolly the majority of such sellers, who haven' t to do the least with gta's classic modding scene as it was pre gta5o. That became visible by the boom of money, rp or unsanctioned weapon getting missions, that popped up among the player build jobs. Some of these guys also did money drops in the lobbies they were in, for free.
The really successful phase of gta5o clearly wasn't earned by the game alone.
It only raised to the level it has, after their decision to end profile migration as option. That was the start n already stopped the market for modded profiles on consoles for ps4 n xboxone. That were untill than profiles which got made on old consoles n migrated to the following gen.
Who talked to modders in the game might b remember hints of fear from uncertainty, cuz it was unclear if or when menues for these moddels directly will b made (it took very lil' time after all).
However,while the market for mod cash still exists, u only need to see how the price/gta$ ratio has evolved to see a clear sign for how mush that market shrunk.
The true purpose of all that was the effect it had further down the road.
Allthough' shark cards were available long b4, it was only then that the sales of those started to take off as desired. Obviously no sane person would pay 90 bugs for 8mio if he can get 1billion for 10 or 20... now a portion of players hasn't ever seen 8mio as "cheap" as 80 bugs. The only real part of players it was about is those who were either stupid, filthy rich or substained by parents being that. They were the ppl who were using mod cash but didn't actually care for saving money n didn't had any issues to buy shark cards instead.
Only due to that, could gta5o keep up earning about 500 000 000$ every year for a game that most already owned n that was given away for free for a while, which also was a sign for how badly the expected earnings were failed to that point - earnings n playerbase numbers both.
You are right, Rockstar deliberately made GTA DE Trilogy so bad and took away original copies of the three masterpieces so that people leave them and come to GTA 5's Online where Rockstar can keep miling microtransactions it has been doing for 11 years since 2013 not a single new GTA, while between 2001-2006 Rockstar had 5 of the best GTAs ever!
Glad I have all the 3D era GTAs for my Original Xbox and PS2 all the original releases and won't be paying $60 for a broken version of 20 year old games.

To be honest with you are right the worst thing I ever did was buy the GTA remaster trilogy it was so bad I only buy them because I loved the old gta games I used to play them when I was a kid I loved them and the GTA remaster trilogy ruined all 3 games I'm happy I managed to buy all 3 of them on steam anyway so I can play the older version and mod them so it's not the end of the world and it brings back all the things they taken out of the game i hate when stuff like that happens but gta San Andreas is the best GTA game in my opinion there is so much to do in that game and why haven't they remade liberty city stories and vice city stories for pc and the same can be said about red dead redemption because that doesn't have a pc port either

100% stopping modding will just draw draw people away from your game. Because even though they are getting an edge they are still playing your game.
I think money mods should be allowed it doesn't really give much of an advantage like an infinite health cheat.
