I'm about to build something similar and was looking for how others approach this. I had in my head that I would use some kind of horizontal dowel as a hinge pin and hadn't considered standard euro hinges. Watching your video changed my approach. Using the hinges can also provide the added benefit of a soft close - thanks!

Hi! You can definitely get creative with other ways of cutting down your pieces to limit the amount of saws you would need. The saw guides, bandsaw, and shelf pin jig are definitely optional. There should be some of that ability on my blood. Lol. I want to make a hamper cabinet/tower for my bathroom. I would hate to screw up on good wood. Maybe I should try modifying an existing cabinet.
That turned out great! I have been searching for a good video guide on how to make one of these! I am looking at making one with 3 tilt outs. Is this cabinet pretty sturdy? I was considering doing a custom walnut and epoxy piece for the top and just wanted to make sure that it can withstand the weight of the top piece if I take that route. Thanks for the video!
I couldn’t find any that fit, that’s why I used the fabric/canvas type. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but the plans have the door dimensions that you can try to match 👍

Just remember that using glue on end grain is almost rendered useless as the end grain absorbs the majority of the glue, hence why most people use some kind of joinery (half lap, mortise and tenon etc.) then use wood glue. Amazing build though, came out awesome.
when I do this type, I tend to use a router, rout a channel until about half an inch from the end, and wedge in another piece of wood. You can't see it once assembled, but MAN does it make a difference

Love your videos, I made one just like the one on your video and it was really nice but I use compressed wood for top and sides but when paint it I didn't like the way it looks so my question is ...do you have any suggestions on how to paint compressed wood and make it looks nice???
I’m not sure what you mean by compressed wood? Do you mean plywood? I use plywood all the time for my projects and paint them just like I’d paint anything else. But, I use high quality birch hardwood plywood (basically cabinet grade plywood) and that makes a big difference. Regular rough pine or treated plywood won’t be smooth enough to give you a nice finish.
I’m not sure what your exact issue is to fix. You just said it doesn’t look like you wanted, but I’m not sure what exactly that means. I’d suggest priming if you haven’t already. And a thorough sanding between coats of paint.

Happy building! You could just cut half round molding and glue on the fronts of the plywood doors just like this project. Nothing else would have to change if you just glued that on top.

Thank you! Yep, it’s sturdy. No issues with it so far after over a year of daily use. I’d say it should be fine with a heavier top.

When you made the top with 2x10’s would it still be durable if I wer to use a 2” strip of other wood in between the 2 2x10’s?
If you use wood glue and/or join them then yes.
