It's a solid move for the middle relief core. Now they need a bridge to Diaz, maybe a David Robertson-type player who's done some closing in the past. Also an OF bat because DJ Stewart has been dreadful and who knows how long Marte will be out.

If Phil Maton pitches well enough for the remainder of this season and the METS still Miss the Playoffs, His 2025 Team Option for around $8M will help the METS buildup the Bullpen because they currently have Diaz, Nunez possibly Butto and Megill as relievers next season.
Megill has never been a reliever, dawg!

Reed Garrett needs to be demoted to lower leverage duties. He admitted he's a work in progress, learning the role on the fly, and his pitches aren't fooling anybody like they were the first month of the season. He can't be the 8th inning guy anymore. I think Ottavino and Diekman will figure it out, but still need at least one more lights out guy besides Nunez and Diaz. I don't think it's Maton.
2 more relviers and a bat to replace mcneil or atleast let jose Iglesias play eveyday instead
No. It shows that a .500 team with a terrible bullpen needs a reliable arm.

Not impressive. a Cheapo Move. One thing I think has been discovered is Butto. He should stay, be the Long Man" and/or spot starter. Maton is not an answer to our needs. Otto is faltering too.
Not impressed. This bullpen is a shambles. Only Nunez and Diaz are performing well. And why do we keep Stewart? Batting .165-.170. McNeil should sit in favor of Iglesias. Get a GOOD solid bullpen pitcher!
All these guys can't be that bad in the bullpen,this got to do with coaching .
