Keep up the good work Gundam. I've been wanting to paint my kits forever and the cost and lack of knowledge if what is keeping me back. I plan to take a deep dive into this side of gunpla after I finish my Bachelors.
Those colors look rad! Real happy that your favorite hobby/therapy is getting recognition. Can' wait to see what projects will be painted with these colors.
Sweet job, I love it. Your Gunpla videos are the perfect think to listen to while I work on my own kit. Its so layed back and mellow. Hope my Unicorn turns out all right.
Speaking of Vallejo, they got a line called Mecha now, guess they figured they'd branch out into plastic robots while they were at it. Got one of their weathering paints, it's a nice nasty rust that starts as liquid then dries into a gritty dark layer of corrosion.....don't how well that stuff will do with an airbrush though.
My father is an auto-body technician by trade, and he says that with metallics, pearls, flakes, etc., it's best to lay down many thin coats as opposed to a few thick coats. This allows for more even flake dispersion.
@@AzraelExcelcis yeah even in the anime I always felt it was more for aesthetic if the pilot than anything. Considering most series relies on the cameras and sensors to identify and locate the suits rather than just purely vision. There could be some merit to camo if the suit was outfitted with something that disguises/hides it on enemy sensors so visibility would be the only way to track it
hes said multiple times he doesnt think he can do it. personally id prefer he did a supercut kinda thing like jenic or LIKEGUNPLA does so that I have more of an idea on his process. Gundam has a certain way of explaining things to the layman that just makes sense to me.
It took 3 years for me to pick up some. I'm doing a 28mm bird person. It reminds me of the Zelda bird guy. I'm using "ice to never" for a cyan to violet transition
I use acrylic paints all the time and I always mix water into the paint to a milk like mix and it always looks great even with just a toothpick paint job
That Afterburner bronze though. Imagine blending that and maybe the Purl Grey to get a heat bloom effect on something. This makes me happy in my painterly parts. [moves cushion onto lap]

Im really digging the look of these colors.. How do you feel they would do on wood? Without the black base and maybe thinned a bit, do you think some transparency is possible?
Actually lacquer paint do cover alot of the painting spectrum just not under the same brand, gaianotes and mr color do have color that shift like mr crystal color
Off topic question but, I'm someone who doesnt have time to paint his kits fully (minus details and wich) would you reccomend an airbrush still for top coating kits
Papa Gundam Id love to see more tutorials from you, you explain things in a way my dumbass can understand. Also, I really wish my second airbrushed kit came out half as good as your rx78. its gonna take me a ton of practice to get decent at painting
I'm actually looking to do a model of the Emperor of Mankind with the Lazerface paint. I also am commenting on a five year old video because I love your other work and just found your painting channel
i've got a few paints in sets that are beautiful, but i don't have anything to use them on. is $6 for 17ml really that expensive though? that's usually around what vallejo goes for on amazon.
If you're looking for colourshift paints in lacquer that you might not have heard of, theres a company called SMS or Scale modellers supply. Personally, i think the colourshift stuff looks tacky, unless perhaps you restrict it to painting effect peices like beam sabres or perhaps the glowy frame type stuff.
Dont feel bad I troll for paints and mini information on instagram myself. I like the turbodork paints about as much as I like the Greenstuffworld paints. Gloss black works the best. The green stuff seems to need a bit less thinning and is cheaper I guess.
I really just want to buy a FUCK TON of paint. past two projects I thought to myself "oh it would be nice if i could do this or this" but I try to only have the paint I expect im going to need for said project, so whenever i have an idea i just cant do it.
I want to say I hate you!!!! (Just kidding) you got me back into gundam(I hate the word gunpla). Want to say I like your vids and you got me subscribed! Thank you for the hard work.
use a syphon airbrush. i was watching punished props acadamy, and he found this for his air brush....www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Dual-Action-Single-Action-Airbrush-Bottles-for-Airbrush-Kit-Glass-Plastic/182633808297?var=485193271932 those bottles are the same thread size as folk art bottles. or apple barrel from walmart or any of the cheap vendors so you could take off the bottle and use the cap on a folk art bottle in case that cheapo brand just so happen to have that color you cant find with the expensive brands... also with the syphon bottles you can store your paint in them when not using them. also if im not mistaken you can use one bottle to flush your brush easier. at least thats what im told. just a thought on airbrushes :D your the master, gundam. your the master :D
Good video but I don't like the paint. I ran into several bottles that were dead. Thry came out super chunky even though it sat on a vortex mixer for a long time.
You didn't ask to be a tiny robot painting comedian with dark biting undertones but we live in a SOCIETY.

I love this guy's monologue. "why didn't you show the little bottle?" "I don't know!"
I’d just like to say that these GunPla videos are wholesome and refreshing
You didn't expect this. You didn't ask for this. But there is.
Those colors look rad! Real happy that your favorite hobby/therapy is getting recognition. Can' wait to see what projects will be painted with these colors.
I have the whole line, super cool paints for acrylics. New colors came out and now I have to get those 🤨😅

He's got Vallejo mecha in the background on the right when he shows his paint line up.

Ahhh soothing papa Gundam
ItsAGunpla You didn't have to ask. The people can recognize skill when they see it
Stupid question: what's the point of camouflage on something that would not blend into a forest anyways because it's so friggin large?
It's more of a model kit painter thing than in the actual anime.
There's even custom gunpla competitions.

I prefer mr hobby and gaia myself, but those look nice. Is the paint at least as durable as Vallejo or tamiya?
Do you know where to buy gaia in the US?

Would these paints be good for a swirl paint job on a guitar: dipping the body in water?
Wat is the best top coat to.use on acrylic paint and for paints like turbo dork
try Aztek high gloss black for acrylic paint as a base.. I've had great luck with it

Just got a bottle of turbo dork but spaced out and didn’t get a thinner ..can I use vallejo thinner ?
i've got a few paints in sets that are beautiful, but i don't have anything to use them on. is $6 for 17ml really that expensive though? that's usually around what vallejo goes for on amazon.
I would say no, considering GamesWorkshop is $5 for 12ml. while Army Builder is $3 for 18ml.
Vallejo paints are a good price for what they are. Think how much use you get out of that 18ml dropper bottle. I've had some of them last me a decade.

Personally, i think the colourshift stuff looks tacky, unless perhaps you restrict it to painting effect peices like beam sabres or perhaps the glowy frame type stuff.
So I might've missed this, but did you thin these paints out a bit or did you pour it straight from the bottle on to the air brush?
You should try the Armored Komodo Chromaflair metallic pigments. You can get them from canadian gundam. Gunpla Network has a video on them.
I am trying so hard to get these to work. they just foam up and clog my airbrush.
Pearly gates came out of the bottle like lotion.
