    Former Tesla mobile technician here. Avoid doing this while you have warranty. This mod will void your warranty on the entire suspension system but also on the motors if something happens with them. I have seen them deny warranty on a faulty drive unit because ”the suspension mod have caused excessive strain on the drive unit”. That guy cried when I called him.

      Or just make sure the installer you use is experienced and willing to contest the denial from Tesla for you if it happens. Evolution Autosports has many examples of overturning warranty denials like this and will back you up. Not all installers will so ask before you give them your business.

      @@LockettTech well that might depend on where you live and who you call at Tesla. I have seen Unplugged Performance products being the cause of denied warranty on the rear drive unit. The customer tried his best to fight it but in the end the cost of a lawyer would be more expensive if he would even win against Tesla. I’m always amazed with the risks people are willing to take with their cars warranty. Also, I used to work for BMW and they were much worse regarding modifications and warranty.

      What about changing rims from 19inch to 18 inch on model Y?

      @@ryancrandall6124 no issues IMO. But if you ever feel vibrations in the steering wheel, or anything else related to suspension they might demand OEM wheels before doing anything on it.

      Dang, that’s unfortunate. I was thinking on getting the luxury suspension on my MYP, but I’ve changed my mind reading your comment. 😢

    Have a 2022 Tesla YP. I did the Unplugged Performance springs and sway bars. I opted not to do the coilovers. The springs and swaybars did make a difference. Less body roll, tighter turns, and the springs actually softened the ride yet firmed it up. Sounds crazy I know. Over bumpy roads the cars is more settled and feels more comfortable. In the twisty's it is more controlled. I am very happy with the package without the cost of the coilovers.
    I just picked up a 2022 Model 3 Performance and will do the same package.
    I do like that about Tesla and being able to customize the suspension. Its like BMW used to be back in the 70s and 80s when you could customize.

      Thanks for the info
      How does (or would) it look with 20’s?
      What did you spend on parts vs labor and in which state/metro?

    Have same suspension on a 2020 MY, found that you want to have the front stiffer then the back. Right now I have 15 clicks in back and 20 in front. Has made a difference. Totally soft caused problems on rough roads.

    The problem with the squeak in my case wasn't the Unplugged performance coilover, it was the ball joint on the upper control arm. I replaced them with Meyle aluminum control arms with larger greased ball joints and it resolved the issue. Took forever to figure out where it was coming from as it was difficult to reproduce when you jacked the car up.

    Nice video! Took our first road trip with all 5 of us in our 23 MYL7. We so surprised how comfortable we were.

    I have both 2023 Y LR and Performance. Both are comfortable though P handles better and rides firmer (but not harsh). LR a little quieter with softer suspension and 19s. However the P is quiet and comfortable with much more power and handling. I think P is a steal with new pricing/tax credit.

    Thoughts on doing this VS just buying a NEW 2023 Model Y which has a softer suspension? I have a 2021 Model Y, and current prices are now back down to about exactly what I paid back in 2021…. With the tax credit and knowing I would be starting with a new car with better suspension, it just seems like a better path to consider.

    • @LockettTech
      @LockettTech  Рік тому +3

      It’s possible. The new “comfort suspension” isn’t that much of an improvement and the lower new prices naturally pushed down the resale value so it’s still a decent cost. We’ve thought about it but we like ours a lot and all we’ve done to it.

      @@LockettTechYour definition of 'decent cost' doesn't match mine or anyone else I know. The concept fits, and is pretty well known. But a set of adjustable shocks, springs and sway bars should not exceed 2 grand. Otherwise, momma can't buy groceries for a long time.

    • @Ianmundo

      The Model 3 Highland has much more comfortable suspension, so the “Juniper” update to help Model Y will almost certainly have similarly improved suspension. Performance models will have electronically adjustable suspension (sport and comfort)

      @eb1888. 9 місяців тому

      @@Tleedog6969 The reality is you don't need to soften the handling. If you analyze your driving experience, the excellent seat is more than enough damping. You're not used to this level of seat quality. The road surface is substantially dampened by the suspension. What you feel from your feet and hands doesn't diminish comfort. Think outside the box when you drive the car. Your body doesn't get any road feel. It's the seat. Unique. If you want softer, buy another Camry.

    Should have just bought the Performance.
    Just in the cost of this suspension and labor you spent more than the Performance and it doesn't include everything else that comes with the Performance.

      Tesla fit and finish are not as bad as social media and haters try to make it out to be. What bad parts are you referring to? Also upgrading one's car is an individual matter.
