some tips he does: phlalo green + burnt sienna, linseed oil to get them juicy and a big brush to lay down the base. use a bounty paper towel to blend it. those two colors make amazing tones. i think a fine canvas or linen is the way to go. if u use a cheap canvas then put a little gesso on it and sand it down so its smoother. i used one of the few linens i have, besides boards, and its just too nice!!!! linen is the best!!!!! don't be frustrated if u try this and it looks nothing like it. it takes many tries no matter who you are. also helps to get good paint and a brush that works. not sure what he uses. if he told us everything than there would be many copycats out there.
Such a tease. He makes it look so easy but it takes years to do it like he does and deservedly so. There is an artist (Fratrich) who does similar work in Pennsylvania but you can tell the difference.
