  • On April 13, 2024 around 5:13 PM, Patrolman Kevin Brown with the Lambertville Police Department responded to a call involving a blonde woman wearing a white jacket who was possibly intoxicated. He arrived on scene and made contact with a woman who was sitting in the driver seat with the engine running, and she was identified as Danielle. As he was speaking with Danielle, he detected a strong odor of alcohol and suspected that she may be impaired.
When he asked her where she was coming from, she told Patrolman Brown that she was coming from work. She was instructed to exit the vehicle and asked to perform field sobriety exercises. When he asked her if she had consumed alcohol, she admitted to having consumed vodka.
Patrolman Brown started by asking her to recite the alphabet from “A” to “Z,” but she was unable to recite the alphabet past the letter “P.” The second exercise was the One Leg Stand Test, and Danielle failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and kept losing her balance. The final exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and she was unable to complete the exercise.
Based on the report from the caller, the odor of alcohol, her slurred speech, and her inability to perform the field sobriety exercises in a satisfactory manner, Patrolman placed Danielle under arrest for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Department for further processing. At the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Department, they read her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and she agreed to submit breath samples for testing. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.32%, which is more than 4 times the legal limit of 0.08%.
Danielle was then transported back to the Lambertville Police Department. After the officers were finished processing her, she was released to her father pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. Patrolman Brown issued her the following summonses: Operating under the influence and careless driving

Not everybody needs to be in jail. I don't drink myself and I'm not saying it's ok to drive and drink. But let them go home and sleep it off. Unless they're drunk it's dangerous to be left by yourself. In that case admitting them in the hospital for 24 hours. And insurance needs to pay for it. They charge enough monthly and some don't use all that they pay in.

My mom was going for her double mastectomy/lymph node removal a couple of years ago and the nurse that was tasked with getting her ready in the morning, 7am, was very clearly withdrawing from alcohol as she could not get a vein from shaking so badly and was poking around in my moms arm for what felt like forever and smelled faintly of alcohol. I was so angry with her in the moment, my mother was gearing up for an almost 12 hour surgery and was nervous as h3ll as it was. I finally had to demand a new nurse to help us after trying to be nice. I have a lot of sympathy and empathy for people dealing with addicti0n, but try to keep it away from your place of work..especially if you’re dealing with vulnerable people.

It’s sad that the state of NJ takes driving under the influence so lightly. Drunk drivers should be incarcerated for a minimum of 12 hours or until sober. Driving at this level of intoxication should have jail time and license suspension. If you are a licensed caregiver it should be mandatory reporting to the Board of Nursing in this case.

@@castorkat4868 @barbaracheatham692 - i would have to say that you are wrong about your generalized comment about NJ.
NJ is one of the safest states in the country. With regards to gun crime NJ has some of the toughest laws and was ranked the #3 safest state for gun crime and gun crime even reduced between 2022 and 2023.
NJ is also one of the safest states with regards to DUI crime and is one of the safest states when it comes to dui fatalities. NJ did change the law for 1st time dui from a felony to a misdemeanor but a DUI will stay on your driving record forever in NJ.
It helps to look up the stats before making assumptions. That's why certain people believe that driving into NJ from PA is similar to driving into a police state.

It should be minimum 90 days in jail with 90 days of meetings, licence gone for 2 years minimum. In order to get their license back, they should have to provide 2 years worth of sobriety proof from a probation officer, a sponsor and a therapist.

She's probably got a responsible job that has no margin for errors. Even after ALL that alcohol she STILL recognises her 'anxiety'! You would have thought that the alcohol would have served as a buffer. Just goes to show how often she is probably drinking and driving like this! So much, that her 'anxiety' jumps to the front when 'needed'. I know people do suffer horribly with anxiety, but it's used as a crutch these days, allowing everyone to use it to excuse their behaviour.
