Thank you, Paul for giving us a place to gather for Shabbat and for remembering me in your prayers, it means so much to me to know there are HIS people praying for me and for others who are at or who are coming to the end of this life. Please pray that i will have ears to hear HIM and eyes to see HIS works on the earth as well as my children and my grandchildren. Thank you very much.

🤔 what is this talk about pagan holidays?
Thanksgiving was a celebration of harvest, and depended on location for when it started. Christians celebrate a Thanksgiving on the 11th, US nation on whatever is the fourth Thursday. Though the national holiday has lost meaning, most people in the US think more fondly of Thanksgiving than Christmas. Mostly because it’s about coming together with friends and family, not about consumerism.
Christmas would be better if the 1950’s had not screwed things up with the idea of spoiling kids. Personally I’m trying to pull back the superficial gift giving of Xmas. It can be toned down over time, brought back to the creator, and more meaningful gift giving.
As for New Years, what’s wrong about the turning of a year? I understand that some of these things marked the darkest point of the winter, and it’s turning point, but is there no value it that? I find much meaning in acknowledging the equinox and the solstice. It seems to help with the winter depression.
