Very useful, thank you! Wow, the changes to the military system have me really excited! The rest of the changes seem like quality of life improvements, and some balance changes, which I'm also excited about! Definitely going to be picking this up when I can!
I probably should have watched this before I played my 1st few games of The New on BGO. But honestly, as an experienced player who had heard about the general changes, nothing really crossed me up. Very excited to pick up my physical copy next week--the physical changes to how it plays on the table clean it up significantly. Great video! And I enjoy your podcast as well. Interesting to put a face now to the voice. :)
CGE is the client - they have permission to host their own version of the videos on their site. I am the creator, so they are hosted here too. The CGE channel may have videos created by others on there and will all be CGE related. My channel will have all the videos I create, for whichever client they are. Hope that helps :)
+Gaming Rules! Tnks for the answer! In the end I decided to buy the new version, because not only the rules are better (in my opinion), but the cards are revised, and there is also the new sequence in the tracker (for corruption and ressources)... yeah... in the end it should pay off the diff ($) from the old edition... But thanks anyway =)
+Stefan Lopuszanski (Stexe) It is because if you fall behind and see no way of recovering, the game becomes "who can get more things from you", which is not intended, and probably not very fun for the player behind, who sees that he's going to be last, and yet everyone is still picking on him.
+msolec2000 I understand the rational for including it. I just think that it is a major flaw in the entire game. Especially in a game this long. I guess I just prefer a more abstracted combat system that is done in Nations or Golden Ages.
In other words you were not suppose to win the game with military because it was a Eurostyle game and to a Euro game designer that is a nightmare and they enabled you the gamer to do that and said Ahhhh, No what have I done. You have unleashed what is known as a Eurotrash game sir. I think that is hilarious. What this guy is really saying is that the designer realized the beast he has unleashed and tamed it to remake it as a more 'pure' Eurostyle and thus the Board Game Geek rating increased reflecting the newly pacified Eurogamer bias as that high rating reflects, not so much how good the game is but how much it appeases the inner Eurogamer of the player.
Thanks Paul for the great and very detailed overview of the Through the Ages rules. I'm feeling prepared for my first Game.😎

+Jamie Maltman Even experienced players can get a bit tripped up by some of the new changes if they dont see them coming :)
Yes. Very clear comparison of the two games.
has anyone tried to mark cars etc to make the old items work with the new rules?
Why are there identical videos on this channel and on the Czech Games Edition channel? Is there any reason to subscribe to both channels?

Do you know when this will be online?
+Jonathan Work Handbook should be online in a few days time.
Do you know if you can use the new rules on war (shared tatics and discarding cards instead of sacrifices), with the old edition of the game?
+Felipe Pontes It is possible. You may want to remove some of the tactics cards through as there will be too many of them. Maybe just one of each.

+Felipe Pontes I approve of your purchase. New version is gorgeous too. Love the new artwork and design.
Those components are in the retail version?
Yes, these images are from the retail version
Cool. Those look nice. :)
TTA 3rd edition still can be won by focusing on military. Every time. Nothing has changed. Avoid!
Resigning is still part of the game... what a silly idea. Just never understood how that's a thing. Oh well.
+Stefan Lopuszanski (Stexe) There are reasons why it is still in there, it was talked about a lot during development.

+Dillion McDyver When you say "you" - it wasn't me who released this game :) I just did the rules video, although I did help a bit with development.
