World Championship 2020 - BlixLT vs DJParson - Through The Ages Expansion

- Through The Ages - The 2020 World Championship for 2 players is a tournament organized by the famous LaoHuang. Each season (month) every player has to play 4 games and can rank up or down according to his results. Once there are 8 players on the highest rank 10 (XianDi) there are playoffs to find the best TTA player in the world.
In this game I will show you my game versus BlixLT
00:00:38 - Age A + I
00:15:30 - Age II
00:28:48 - Age III
00:46:35 - Age IV
00:58:43 - Impacts
Since games are played in asynch speed I had to record every turn and put them together afterwards, so if there are any editing problems, I am sorry.

If I could have bet on a winner when Age 3 began, I would have lost a lot on money. I was rooting for you, but that was a crazy comeback from him. Thanks for uploading it.

I think this describes it perfectly. I was too sure of my victory and didn´t think my decisions in the end would matter that much. But at least I know that others would have acted in the same way :)

Crazy game.
I'm really surprised you'd play the impact, I was sure Terrorism was in there! Also feared a Hybrid War coming but not sure what you could do about that at the endgame. Nice game, thanks for posting. Could you explain why when going for Coal you often delete the 3rd mine? Seems that gives Iron-level income but comes in later and costs more science. I was also wondering about the ordering of Coal and Scientific method, again I thought you needed resources faster than science there so would have built in the other order.
You are welcome. About the coal I think it often comes down to needing population. In this specific game I wanted to increase strength and had to delete something and then a bronze mine is the best thing to delete. I guess I could have deleted a swordmen instead or waited with increasing millitary to go for the third Coal. But at that point investing another 6 ressources into upgrading Coal without an Efficient Upgrade is pretty expensive. Still, I think maybe you have a good point and I could have gone for that.
About SM or Coal first, I didn´t know that I could get the cheap upgrade to Republic with Max at that point and if I had gone Coal first, I would have been stuck with Despotism for quite a while. But in retrospect Coal would have been better because I had a pretty nice science production anyway.
That ConMon hate draft really nailed him to the wall.

When he was still with Despotism in the middle of Age 3 I felt pretty good about the game, but as you saw, comebacks are always possible :)
A question more, action Cards as frugality, dat action = reward, un manual says that make civil action free, but in the Game still cost the civil action, i dont get it
Frugality just makes you increase population costing less food, but it still costs one civil action to play the frugality card.
@@DJParson yeah, was weird, so are low tier, i mean, discount action cards are far better

If i buy Android versión i can Play the pc versión too?
Sadly that is not possible. If you buy it for android you can play against others from the PC but if you want to play on PC yourself, you have to buy it again.
The expansion on the other hand can be linked to your cge account, so you only have to buy that once.

@@RolandTemplar I like both versions. But if I had to choose, I think I would pick android. It is very nice to be able to play during a long bus ride for example.
If you plan to get it for your Android phone the only two problems can be battery life and screen size. If you know all the cards already (like me) then the screen size is no problem at all, but I can imagine that if you are new it can be a little bit annoying to always click all the cards to see what's going on.

You seem to hate Iron?
Since this video is over 2 years old I am not sure if I "hated" Iron back then, but nowadays I think that Iron is a super strong technology that makes the game easier most of the time. But there are still cases where it is better to skip iron and focus on other things first.
Great game - this particular one and the game as such. The impacts feel a bit overpowered to me - they are so nonlinear and powerful that they can become the main game, making the core of the game feel less meaningful. That's the only real criticism I have of the game, and one that may change with further play.

Playing that last impact was a poor decision. You should if had that game bagged up
Definitely. I miss calculated and didn't see that he could build two libraries and that mistake cost me the game.

@@DJParson He also could have built one alchemy and still gotten to 11 science. I was yelling at my screen when you played that impact :p. Thanks for recording and editing these - I'm really enjoying your videos.
