Haven't thought of this tune in ages. Loved the entire album. Great cover art. And a great cover by you Alex. Love the tonality you get from your guitar/amp combo......so loyal to Ry's recording. As is your timing. Dead on. Very Ry-like. Well done, I greatly enjoyed that.
You're very welcome! I thought the same when first hearing this piece, but with practice it came together. It’s very rewarding when it all falls into place. It just might take some time in the woodshed!
Is it an open tuning Alex? Sounds beautiful - I have come up with an arrangement for standard tuning, but some of the bass runs and little nips and tucks are especially difficult to reproduce. Even my raggedy version sounds OK though, its such a great tune. Hats off to Ry and the great Joseph Spence.
milliewray unfortunately I don't! Also I'm currently on cruise ships till next year playing in party bands! Hopefully going to post more content on here or Instagram soon
Bro over 30 years i sold my soul to the devil and started playing the cabaret circuit I was earning good money & having a helluva time But I regret it deeply now not staying true to the music i love Playing shitty covers to earn filthy lucre Don't make the same stupid mistakes i did Alex You've got too much talent for the cruise ships & party bands
Beautiful…just beautiful 👍

Thank you very much sir. Very kind words. I hope you have a great week!
Beautiful rendition of a wonderful tune.
Beautifully executed. I have a strong affinity for that album as well.
Wow. Beautifully played. Great tone.
Thanks so much for this, it sounds awesome. I’d love to be able to play this but it’s beyond me. So nice to hear this piece again.

Beautiful interpretation
Thank you very much Peter.
Nice! Alex takes on Ry, taking on the mighty Joseph Spence! J200 sounding great:)
Thank you buddy! Two greats there to try and live up to!
I think Gary Davis also had a J200, which he called "Miss Gibson". So, nice to see the wheel turning: Rev Gary, to Ry, to you, to us ;-) Thanks
Jolyon Patten J200s are things of beauty! Thanks for the support, all the best :)
best cover of Ry’s version I have heard. That maple Gibson (J-200?) looks exactly like Rev Davis’ favorite guitar
Thank you -It does look a lot like Rev’s!
Very cool.
Brilliant mate
Cheers Jim!
Wonderful!
Crystal Longdon thank you!!!! :)
Ry played it with a lot of staccato, however I love your interpretation. One of my own favourites to play
Nicely done!
Thanks very much!
Nice bro.
Mr CMH cheers!

Hey Jimi, good question! From what I can recall this was in drop D. However this was a few years ago now. It is a very fun tune to learn and play.
@@SlickLicksWithAlex Spence played almost exclusively in Drop-D as I understand it, so this would make sense. Thanks for the response man.
Beautiful playing. I'm curious to know what tuning you're in and also for Dark End Of The Street?
Thank you! From memory this was drop D and dark end was open G..
@@SlickLicksWithAlex Thanks Alex. I'm going to have a go at these.
Great version. I'm not sure following slavishly is always a good idea so you shouldn't worry about that. Beautifully played, by anyone's standards!
Thank you for such kind words, all the best to you! Cheers
If you lived in the North East of England i'd ask you if you wanted to start a band....
