  • On the morning of August 13, 2021, during our Cleveland trip, we made a stop at the Cleveland Works Railway. This railway is located in the heart of Cleveland's Industrial Valley and one can see trains of molten metal and steel slabs pulled by locomotives painted in a patriotic scheme. I was half expecting it to be relatively dead, especially due to the declining demand for American steel, however, the railroad never saw a dead time for more than a half hour. For the three hours we were there, we saw a total of nine movements around the massive mill. While it was fun filming here, the heat index was pushing 90 and the humidity was out of control. Combined with the heat radiating off of the trains and the extreme temperatures, this was definitely a hot experience, literally. With that said, sit back, relax, and watch America's hottest railroad handle their morning duties!

Appreciate that! However, we weren't there for Steam in the Valley, this was just a little trip to the area, however, I did visit the CVSR also.

Great video, i got to ride on this railroad in 1996. My father knew the yard master back then. Surprisingly, the ride was very smooth for industrial track. A couple years ago a bottle car derailed on the draw bridge, those cars are a pain in the ass to re rail.

In Australia, we call those hot iron cars torpedo wagons.

Did you have any problem with security or anything? Was it easy to chase or follow? I don't live very far from the CROW so I've been wanting to come document some of their movements.

Didn't have any issues with anyone surprisingly. All they said was just to stay far from the tracks (for obvious reasons) and that I was fine to stay. I just stayed along Independence Road the entire time I was there. I'd also highly advise to stay a distance away from the trains as it's always possible for a derailment or for hot metal to spill out. I set up my camera and stood far away when I filmed.

Noticed some camera shake towards the end of the video as each torpedo car passed. Was that ground vibration or heat radiating from them ? I'm sure the camera is on a tripod and for safety your aways away from it.
    Great clear photography .......nice video!

Try to re rail one of these monsters loaded. Wide guage replacers wont do it. Hulchers can get them back on the rail. Real pain look at the double set of trucks under each end?
