Hi, very good info. About the last point of hopping on the train that is on time then the actual train, question is what about the seat reservation which was brought on the delay train. Thanks.
Your seat reservation would not count anymore. You can request a refund for this. But it might be that you have to give up your seat for someone else who reserved it
If I only purchased the train ticket but not the seat reservation what’s going to happen? Do I need tu buy or I’ll get a random seat at the train? It is 2nd class
Hi i made a lot of investigation. I ll go germany too after 4 days. Here s the answer dude. If you sit somewhere and if another man bought the seat you sat, you will go and sit another empty place. If all of them is occupied you will go by standing.
Great information, thank you ! One question though. If you have a reservation on train A and it is delayed. If I choose to take different train as explained, what happen to my reservation? does it become a non reservation ticket on the next train or I can make reservation on new seat?
If you wait for the delayed train nothing happens and your seat remains yours. If you choose to take a new train you will get a refund for your reserved seat (upon request at a DB office) and your ticket becomes a non reservation ticket. However I do believe you can make a new seat only reservation for the new train
Thank you so much for this
Planning our families Europe trip next year
I can't wait for my trip to Germany next year. I am looking forward to seeing a ton of places. Thanks for the clarification on how the trains work.
Altough not using an interrail pass, it was still good information on how some of the details on how German railways work/think.

@@travelaimes Great, thanks !
Can you tell more about how I can change the train I booked.
Because of a delay? Or just because you want to change your ticket?
