this interview was crazy good, hopefully everyone who's bashin' on Lavar sees this. the Ball brothers simply love the game of basketball and will do anything and everything they can to be remembered for what they were best at in this life. everyone needs to quit worrying about Lavar, he's all talk and he admitted it. he's not on the court; he's just being a parent. if you haven't heard of the Ball brothers, you will now because of their dad. stoked to see how the rest of this championship turns out for Lonzo.

@Aaron Smith, my sentiments exactly. Most of the "whino's" don't even have fathers in their lives, let alone someone that encourages them both in private and public to be great.

@5:20 that's real if you have a passion for something and get money for it you won at life. That is so real because a lot of times we end up doing things we don't want to to get money. I love this man passion and reality and perspective on life. It's good to see a father in the news and being talked about and he back it up with intelligence instead of ignorance and back up his comments and comes correct.

May not agree with Mr. Ball on other topics, but regarding his philosophy on increasing skill level I happen to agree. I used to play my father growing up and he was 6'3 230. Obviously didn't go all out till my teenage years. But he pushed me hard and used his skill and size in order to increase my skill level in as many facets of the game as possible. Really appreciate what he did. He made me a smarter player and a better player all around.

10 million people cannot all play in the NBA. If all whites thought this way, poverty central would also be in the rear view mirror. There are more white people in poverty in America than black people. It has nothing to do with their mentality. Notice Lavar had really bad grades, he didn't get a good education growing up. Its nothing short of a miracle that he like other successful black people ended up being successful. The truth is that most human beings do not respond aggressively towards extreme difficulties in life. Person A is born, white, black, latino, Asian, indian, whatever.... it doesn't matter their race. If that baby has a mother that is on drugs, a father in jail, and family members all either in jail, on drugs, or working too long to be present, and the school they go to is filled with same kids with teaches that don't get paid enough to take their job seriously and police officers checking their pockets when they come into the building and the same clothes every day with holes in their pants and when they turn on the TV the only thing they see is black people being laughed at, shot to death, criticized, mocked, or showing off their cars, or entertaining people..... the likelihood that that boy is going to look at that and say "I'm going to break the mold and be successful" is nearly zero. Because they don't have any first hand concept of successful. All they see is that the people they grow up with either end up in jail, dead, on drugs, or working 24/7 pay check to pay check.
Now take person B, they are born. Their father is a Mechanical Engineer and owns a couple million dollars of real estate and invests heavily in securities. The mother is a Licensed Clinical Therapist, a Writer, and a Part time psychology professor. All of their family have graduate degrees and are reasonably successful in their careers. All of their cousins get into private and ivy league universities, state schools are the worse case scenario. They attend a private school where they wear uniforms and recite Shakespeare at the age of 10, and are doing internships their senior year. Now what is the likelihood that person B will have forward thinking mentality. Probably 90+% They've seen success all around them their whole lives. They live with smart and driven adults who they learn from subconsciously before they could even talk. Chances are they even want to be better then their parents. They have every opportunity to become super successful, and they know that if they fail they have a solid financial and social support system to fall back on, which gives them the ability to be more aggressive in their approach to life.
Now of course there are exceptions for both of these cases. But the exceptions are not the rule and we shouldn't look at the exceptions as a means of demonizing the majority. That's horrible. Its like saying because some slaves escaped from slavery, the rest were lazy and didn't have any sense of self worth. That's nonesense

i disagree with his take on "run and gun" basketball. As a basketball team you need to know how to play in the half court. In crunch time sometimes you need to get a layup. If you don't get enough game time practice at half court offense that's when you see teams jacking up threes as the shot clock runs down.
