The fullness of the glory of the Father is a "fullness and a continuation of the seeds" This is the significance of the promise made to Abraham.
While I love Hugh nibley, I really do believe that Truman is the most relevant Lds scholar for unveiling the beauty and intellectual bottomless pit of mormon philosophy. Nibley focused more on discussions of antiquity and historicity, which don't get me wrong I find compelling and interesting. Nibley also unpacks our doctrine in relevant ways. but with Madsen's philosophical exploration of mormonism im already convinced of mormonism just from understanding its ideas and implications rather than historical arguments. "Which God is more worthy of our love?"
The reason for why man suffers is just the process of answering a question God the Father places on the induvidual in means of helping out by means of burdens of relinquished spirit or intellectuals merit badge is attained either by God or his handy upper class Elders... after sufferage is baned from the network of the individual...
Love it! Is there a way to get this in writing with the references? Did he do that? Also, there are one or two things in this that he contradicts in later lectures, but still love this!
Later he quotes Joseph Smith stating that God is in the "eternal now" where time does not exists and that past and the future are one. Here in this lecture he contradicts that. Maybe later he changes his thinking. I didn't feel the Spirit at all when ht talked about time and God's perception of time, etc. God and Christ are outside of time. Time is malleable to God we are only placed in it. When prophet tell of the future, it's because they are only reporting on events that they saw and were commanded to share. It's not as Brother Madsen describes it. They actually see into the future, the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith's patriarchal blessing are very clear about this. Time travel is possible to God, but unlawful to us and would destroy the atonement. Christ's atonement, faith, and other principles and powers are outside of time or and can effect both forwards and backwards, thus the effect of having faith on the atonement which to the ancients' perception had not happened yet, but yet it was in force as they were worthy to have the Gift of the Holy Ghost, receive revelation, etc. The atonement is infinite and to God's perspective always has been. Ok my friend I think i can see where the misunderstanding is.. At the beginning of the lecture Madsen mentions how the absorption of Greek Philosophy into Hebrew Christianity is a disastrous marriage, where a divorce has never taken place. I believe that he means that ancient Greek philosophy skews correct doctrine. So if you skip to the 15:50 to 17:10 mark, Madsen makes a comment on the concept of God and time, according to the Greeks. If I understand him clearly he isn't agreeing with Plato or Augustine who assert that God exists outside of time and space. He's saying the opposite, that God is indeed subject to preexisting Eternal constructs of time and space. Hope that helps.
