The Volcano House would be an amazing place to stay. Such close views to an active volcano makes for an awesome experience. It is a shame the volcano wasn't more active so you could see the lava. I guess that's is a good reason to return one day. Thanks for introducing us to Volcano House!

That is pretty neat story about the fire in the fireplace. Great views of the volcano from there. Too bad you can't see it erupting. I'll bet at night the glow would be pretty neat to see. I can't believe that masks are required outside when you are alone. Hopefully things will get back to normal before we visit Hawaii. No matter, pretty neat view and visit. Thanks for the tour.

I've been to see the Kilauea Volcano when I spent time there, but didn't go to the resort or know the story of the hotel being haunted. That's so cool. That is a bummer that you didn't get to see the lava and the glow.

I was lucky enough to stay here with my family many years ago and it was incredible! It’s been refurbished since then and looks beautiful. We ate breakfast looking at that view. Thank you for bringing back such good memories.

I did not know Moana Loa was the largest active volcano in the world. I like the ending with the valcano puns 🙂
It's actually taller than Mount Everest from base to peak. But a lot of its base is below sea level. If you go to the first Hawaii video we did about 3 weeks ago. The one about living on lava. In the beginning we show maunaloa with snow on it. As we're flying in

That’s pretty cool, the volcano still active. Must be exciting to get closer to the crater. Unfortunately you didn’t see the lava nevertheless the view is just stunning!

Oh we want to got back there. We had dinner there one night. It was active when we went and had a nice glow.

In the background you can hear the birds, some native some not. The hotel has changed a lot. If you can find Apau tours, he does a video almost daily and usually he is at the visitor's viewing platform;Scott is full of interesting info & lives at Leilani estates just in front of #8 from which, in 2018, a whole lot of lava poured forth. We love this park. We've spent weeks camping at Namakani Paio campground just off Hwy 11. There is wonderful stuff to see and learn and the Art Center is fabulous. The lobby used to let you move the furniture around and had a couch pulled up to the fire. We met so many wonderful people there as the campers mingled with the hotel guests. When we go to Merrie Monarch (the Olympics of hula) in April, we always take half a day to drive up to the park and revisit old favorite places. We traded in our 1 night at Volcano House for 3 nights in the campground cabins back when they were el cheapo. Not so anymore.

When did you go? It’s been active since Sept of last year. Lava visible most nights. I stayed at VH in 2008 before the remodel in 2009. Looks much different now then it did then. I moved there from Chicago in January 2009. The whole volcano looks different these days.
Lava was visible the week before in the crater. Then two days after we left. I was so upset that I didn't see it due to a "pause." Saw your footage of 2013. Wow!
Scientists use to measure lava flow off of the coast to determine that the Earth magnetic polarity actually switches from north to south south to North
