Canadian soldiers were and still are the most feard and tenacious fighters in the world. They are well known for thier bravery and will not back down in any fight. No matter what you say in response to this it will never change my mind or the true documented facts
Amazing. (And the music was perfect, whatever anyone else may say...) I never knew the Soviets took such amazing footage. Some of this stuff is brilliant.
It is a sad reminder that so many men died fighting and they where still so young. The thought still runs into my mind... Where did they fall? Did they live thou the war? If the war never happened what would have they become? But we all have to remember the answers died along with them and the film is all we have to remember who they where and how brave they where.
The problem here, is that Hitler didn't have the resources to do anything. Believe it or not, but when Hitler invaded Poland and France, Germany had a very small military. They needed the industrial resources of these other countries to build up their might.
A lot of this footage is from the battle of Berlin and it shows russian soldiers storming buildings and such, indeed the battle of berlin is the bloodiest battle ever fought in a city.
I dont know either but obviously don't know that Stalin kept bugging Hitler about letting them observe German U-Boat technology and the super battleships like the Bismarck.
DavieGetsBlunted, USA casualties were much smaller compared to German, Soviet, & Japanese casualties. We didn't usually sacrfice troops needlessly & with disregard. We had a few jets operational in Italy that were the equal of the Me-262 but we didn't issue a lot of them because there were some problems with them & with the pilots learning how to fly them, so instead of issuing more of them we held them back to save pilot's lives etc.
The Japanese won the first part of the Khalkin-Gol campaign, but lost the second round. The splendid Soviet Manchurian operation was greatly appreciated because the Japanese had & were still moving troops from Manchuria etc. to Japan & the other Pacific areas, but due to logistics it wasn't until Aug. 1945 that Stalin launched the Manchurian Operation.
a german feld marshall said "we are winning ones self to death" and thats what happend. a good book about the eastern front is absolute war by chris bellamy, give it a read
not exactly. The soviets still faced 95% of the "elite german forces" the only thing left on the front that the americans faced were simply reserve armies. The majority of heavy weaponry was also on the front of the soviet side. The soviets pretty much managed on thier own and would have won on thier own, the main and most critical tactical mistake on the german side was during the battle of stalingrad in which was a turning point in the war.
I thought russia almost lost to germany, however because german supplies ran so thin combined with the harsh russian winter, it stoped the german war machines march through russia.
poles even tho they were conquered they still fought for the allies and rebelled against the Germans during the Warsaw uprising probably forgetting a few myself
The Soviets were getting their aces kicked. The Germans had things under control except for a few key battle losses and the American's joining in. The Germans became vastly outnumbered in man power and material support.
great footage! sometimes I thik the russian front was a little more terrifying than the rest, but I don't know... may be by the constant close fitghs face to face??? well thanks for the footage!!!
If it wasn't for the Normandy invasion the Russians may not have done it alone either. It was the war on 2 fronts that broke the back of the German war machine. As for Russian industrial capacity, they turned out a tremendous number of tanks and planes. They suffered terrible at the hands of the Germans in the beginning. Whole towns disappeared. When they counter attacked it was severe. No I am not Russian. I do appreciate what they and other countries endured during that war.
@SuperNumber19 You don't think Britain fought back? I'm not British, but if they didn't fight and let Germany walk in the war would have had a different ending
@lukeday94 did I not say started out as? and just so you know 200 years is not a long time. 75000 criminals came to Austrailia from England 200 years ago to start what is now Australia. But the funny thing is, it just proves that people are people. Those criminals ended up doing pretty well. I dig Australia.
War is written and portrayed by the winners eyes. I'm sure if Germany would've won the war we would be reading stuff like " The courageous germans crushed bitter russian resistance"
Haha, look at einsatzdeath's page to see what ppl think of him, lol. I liked the video, those cities were pretty much turned to shit though after all the fighting.
well the russians went for quantity nd the Germans went for quality i mean if you wer at Stalingrad you wer lucky to get a gun and you wer even more like if it fired
The German army was 90% horse-drawn wagons. The 10% motorized & armored vehicles was for the elite Waffen SS. However, every German soldier was encouraged to take the initiative whenever possible & that helped for a while. The infighting & squabbling among the German armed forces that allowed the British to evacuate Dunkirk presaged what was to come - the German armed forces were to be over extended & burned out by a pathetic fool (Hitler) until final defeat.
hey man we canadians were at normanday also dont exclude us from that victory but ya nuff talk our ancestors all did a great job by keeping the totalitarian countries at bay but i think its our turn to pick up the sticks and fight the oppression in america today you might not see the oppression on the news but it is there and it is strong
yes that is pritty true and the germans came close to winning its just hitler made a few bad mistakes i mean if the german generals comanded there army completly then they probly would have won scary isnt it
russians are some of the most honourable and well trained soldiers in the world, in ww2 the red army simply did not have enough time to train, due to the needs of the war, read some more books
Wow, if you look at the comments it is just like you three arguing (which I'm not saying is preventable) but you all three kinda have a point. Can't we all agree that Hitler and Stalin were pretty bad? Communism is a crooked philosophy and is in no way right. But also having a dad as a vet does not make you better than everyone else. You may have more knowledge but still... I don't want to be dragged into this argument I am just saying my opinion. Good luck with that
yeah i am canadian and i truely disagree um realy we have one of the worst militeies the only thing keeping canada from getting invaded is or mage of being peacekeepers
Ausralians are considered the bravest and most courageous soldiers in the world. look at your history text, first land defeat of the japanese can be awarded to the australians......
problem... i call it good for mankind. but , winter, supplies, Hitler himself not listening to comanders, Russia willing to sacrafice troops like pawns, several factors ... great video though. and yes Russia did outnumber the Germans by 10-1 or there abouts. stalingrad and krusk , spell check ... Germany ended up defending Berlin with mostly foriegn troops , Muslums and the sorts. Most Germans left... cept for Hitler youth ..thats facts. Towards wars end German recrutment was non Arian
The Eastern Front was the greatest struggle in the history of warfare. Very humbling.

Could you please upload the original file in a different host? I really need this for my upcoming project about WW2, thanks in advance.

Why did you change the music?
The other one was perfect!

What the heck, this music is beautiful...

This looks fun :)
For the motherland! btw it would be better if u just didnt have any music.
nice footage
You don't want to mess with Ivan !
Let's hope and pray there is never a war between Russia and the U.S. It would be a catastrophe for the whole world.
But if you were born in 1891, and you're still alive today, how can you not have been alive during the 80s, let alone have died in that decade?
a german feld marshall said "we are winning ones self to death"
and thats what happend.

@SuperNumber19 You don't think Britain fought back? I'm not British, but if they didn't fight and let Germany walk in the war would have had a different ending
I want a good sniper movie in the cold city of berin at night all slinet and then a sliper shot is heard throughout the town!
They did....they pushed the german lines all the way back to Berlin on the eastern front.
Why are takes always so short in those archive movies?

I must have the title to the current song that's playing. Does anyone know? I would really appreciate your help.
@lukeday94 you should be proud to be from Australia! Australians did a fucking good job in the pacific and in the north african theatre!
Haha, look at einsatzdeath's page to see what ppl think of him, lol. I liked the video, those cities were pretty much turned to shit though after all the fighting.
