I love the episode where Mrs Naugatuck comes to live with them. And I love that this British woman has a surname that is Algonquin in origin - how does that happen???
I’d love to have a husband take care of me and I stay home and take care of the house. In those days men wanted their wives to stay home. It was considered their job to take care of the family. Men today expect their wives to work outside the home AND inside.
Right? She's supposed to stay home and not develop any marketable skills... and he turns into a drunk and a tail-chaser and goes bankrupt. But he expects HER to stay dependent on HIM???
Walter is such a freaking babyman. He screams about Maude "wanting" to work...but he's the one who was an alcoholic, and who went bankrupt in his business. Then he expects her to depend on HIM for lifetime security? Put up or shut up, Walter. You're a risky investment for anyone to count on.
@@leonoranicolaysen2784 Oh baloney. It is satire ...AND It's also a highly visible model of a very real prevelant Nixon Era mindset, and the very real double standards that existed at the time. The show is called "Maude" but the character who lays down the law, and who has the most dramatic experiences center around him is Walter. He built a business, he becomes an alcoholic, he commits DV, he has a heart attack, he goes bankrupt, he takes all his pills and they have to save his life. It's a thinly-disguised presentation of how hard Walter has it, and how lucky Maude is that he keeps her around instead of trading her in.
Bea *ALWAYS* wore the *UGLIEST* clothes in these comedy shows, even in The Golden Girls. For those of you who did NOT know . . . . . . . . . The Golden Girls was a " sequel ", ( if you want to call it a sequel ), from / off of Maude.
@@Retiredlifeliving Hey, jack @$$, only someone with very poor taste, my mistake . . . . . . NO taste at all, referring to you, would actually like and / or love ( Bea clothes. Well, done troll . . . . . . you have managed to make the *I'm An Idiot Troll* list.
3 things. Why am I a Troll? Because I corrected you? Maude was done by Norman mailer and Gg wasn’t plus bea Arthur played Dorothy in Gg not Maude so nope not a sequel 2 why am I a asshole. I think you’ve shown you’re the colors 1 yes you have no style at all.
Love the writing and acting in this show. The one liners are classic !
The two best housekeepers Maude ever had were Florids and Mrs. Naugatuck, they matched her wit for wit and she loved them and they loved her too.

Love Maude, savage!
I love this show but -- wow -- SO much screaming all the time!

Mollie's got a hang up on Womens Lib. She posts something derogatory about Maude every video posted.@@lindac6919

@@lindac6919 You obviously don't know what Norman Lear was all about. The more fool you.
Hey
Where is part 2 of Bipolar episode?

I find Arthur's character really annoying.
