I remember you guys watching Its A Long Way There, you guys loved that. Their first song, Curiousity Killed The Cat was interesting. Help Is On Its Way has a great, not overly complicated bass line, but i really love Cool Change (a yatch rock classic!).
Fantastic, Chris, Cynthia….. this is one of my all time favourite LRB songs….with a great vocal by Beeb…..they always had great singers in this Band …. Original lead singer Glenn Shorrock 75-81…. John Farnham 82-86…. And then the guys who could handle one or two songs per album…. Beeb Birtles, and Wayne Nelson…. Plenty more LRB👍.
I love the Little River Band (this original version of the band!). This was Beeb Birtles on lead vocals. You should check out some of the songs with Glenn Shorrock on lead vocals (Happy Anniversary, Cool Change, Help Is On Its Way, Lady, Reminiscing, Take It Easy On Me, Lonesome Loser). I would say that Happy Anniversary is my favorite Little River Band song! Thanks! 😊
A lot of Victorians, including myself, have driven through Little River, which is the small town the band got their name from. Gillian and I hated LRB and sulked in the most passive-aggressive way possible when our parents got tickets to see them live. It was fine watching LRB mime one song on Countdown, but to watch them perform 20 songs live was a nightmare to us. We walked out of the concert with a new found love and appreciation for the band. Dare we tell our friends at school and too-cool-for-school fellow Countdown kids? Hell, no! But they were great that night. Cheers, Hayley
Great reaction guys, great song too. Their first hit 'Curiosity Killed the Cat' is another great track with a reggae feel. I hope you react to it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Thanks.
Yeh, they're good. Very competent writers and players. There was a well-used video of the band performing this song on Countdown which was transferred onto film for international distribution. A lot of Countdown performances would actually become ''film-clips'' (kinoscope format) and get TV exposure overseas. Neither here nor there.. really. Other quality LRB clips: Little River Band - Curiosity Killed The Cat - Official Video Austech Little River Band - Emma - 1976 - Remastered Austech Please use them when the time times.
I hated this song when it first came out but I was 11years old so what would I know? It grew on me a lot over the years and rate it pretty highly these days. Its a good tune.
I hear ya! I felt the same way about mid-70s Elton John. It wasn’t until I became an adult and overcame my childhood prejudices that I could hear these kinds of songs with fresh ears.
Hi guys, I think the other LRB song that you listened to was "It's a long way there". One of their Albums was done together with the Sydney Oprea house Orchestra'. When I find remember the name I will contact you. It was fantastic.
I don’t hate it .. but I had the distinct feeling listening to this track that I now know what it must feel like to have a chat with “ Colin Robinson “ the energy Vampire from What We Do In The Shadows …🥱 Not for me , it’s quite Horlicks . 👍🏴
Most of their stuff was MOR or AOR Yacht rock. I liked them a lot more after they released Time Exposure in 81 and when Farnsey joined them a few years later. Yeah I can see Colin Robinson listening to this, in a brown cardigan smoking a pipe wearing horn rimmed glasses while explaining your taxation to you just before you nod off. They were very good musos that played it way too safe most of the time. Very Formulaic like Air Supply but they sold records so it worked for them.
@@iankearns774 brilliant Ian ! 😃 I’ve discovered a fellow WWDITS enthusiast 😆… I held out that line on my sarcastic and non existant fishing rod and here you are !.. BAT 🦇 💨 😝 👍🏴
Once the hobo, who was strolling along minding his own business in the middle of the road, crossed the bridge, the country opened up to great expectations.
I think to compare them to the "E" combo, is a really bold statement to make, but IMO still one of the best Australian bands though, just not for me 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Not something that would be allowed to stay on radio in my car. Sounds way too American influenced for mine. No wonder the Yanks loved them so much. I actually do not mind some of their songs but mostly they are not music I would go out of my way to listen to.
This is one of their more average songs, production being dated is not surprising as it was released in 1976, listen to "Mistress of mine" or "Long way there" from the 70's or later on "Night Owls" or "Playing to win". Much better songs.

I've still got it.
One of my favorite LRB songs is it's a long way there

I see you've only done a few of their songs - many treats await! :)
Highly recommend Cool Change. One of my favourite all time songs.

@@iankearns774 spot on Ian , the original film it’s based on is special too

'Long Jumping Jeweller' LRB. Glenn Shorrock at his prime.
Judgeing fi that Keyboard , later 70s?
1976

A good track from this great band, they remind me of 'Supertramp' a bit.
That certainly was a bit raw compared to the version I'm used to, still, a great song, one among many great songs already listed in previous comments.
Yeah that guitar seemed a bit to low in volume for the mix..the sound man probably went for a mix .
Not something that would be allowed to stay on radio in my car.

An inferior Supertramp type of song. The Production is dated & the song is inspired but sounds mundane. Guitar solo didn't fit with the song.
That's it " supertramp" but not as good 🏴✌️
