Truly beautiful. I am looking in to nursing during the Great War so I am thrilled to have stumbled upon this little, informative and tender presentation. A few tears have fallen down my cheeks as the selfless nurses letters home actually made me stop (hit the pause button!) rewind, re-play and then count my very own blessings. The young nurse who shared the contents of her Christmas bow took my breath away. I lost my maternal Grandpappa in the Somme. He had already spent time away from 1900 to 1902 in South Africa fighting the 2nd Boer War so my Great Grandma'ma pleaded with her husband not to go off to war again as there were five children and not one at school. However, my Great Grandpappa was an Officer and felt that it was his duty to serve King and country once more. I am pleased to say that I took my children, my ma'ma and Grand parents to lay flowers on my Great Grandpappa's grave. As my Grandpappa was the youngest of all the children, he had no memories of his father at all, merely a few photographs, letters and family stories. I cherish each and every hand written letter that I receive and thoroughly enjoy writing to friends and family. It seems to be a dying art, alas. I trust that some of the viewers of this wonderful presentation take time to sit down and pen a letter to someone dear. It may just make their day! Thank you once more, this has been utter joy.
It's interesting at how strong these Sisters were dealing with harsh conditions and overwhelming mass casualties.. if it had of been today, sadly would be much different.
