Amazing how many American hero's came from the fringes of our society. From the Navajo code talkers, to the all Japanese 442nd Infantry Battalion the most decorated US unit of WW2 and the all black unit of Tuskegee airmen who escorted bombers (without loss over a period of months) over Europe. History that needs to be remembered. God Bless Marcella LeBeau and all those who have served and have not received the recognition that they deserve.

I hope you learn and grow up someday. And don't say "Duh" because so many times I've come to better understand things I thought I was so sure about before and learned just how wrong I was. Your statement is so completely wrong about this woman and I'm sure quite a lot of other women as well so you don't want to make yourself at least feel any more foolish later on when you realize it that you also added a "Duh" to yourself

Oh my, she’s too cute and sweet. Seriously could listen to her for hours, especially with how articulate she is at her age. It’s a damn shame what she had to go through growing up in the boarding school, the attempt at taking her culture and language. Then subsequently even after returning from duty with the racism by shop owners and the like. She deserved better but I’m glad that she seems to have always been true to herself and hope she continues/d her language/culture. I have such a tremendous amount of respect and pride towards our First Nations veterans and it made me very happy to hear how she helped Eugene and he went on to be happy with a family. “Every society needs heroes. And every society has them. The reason we don't often see them is because we don't bother to look.
There are two kinds of heroes. Heroes who shine in the face of great adversity, who perform an amazing feat in a difficult situation. And heroes who live among us, who do their work unceremoniously, unnoticed by many of us, but who make a difference in the lives of others.
Heroes are selfless people who perform extraordinary acts. The mark of heroes is not necessarily the result of their action, but what they are willing to do for others and for their chosen cause. Even if they fail, their determination lives on for others to follow. The glory lies not in the achievement, but in the sacrifice.” Bless you Marcella Lebeau from across the big pond

It makes my heart hurt beyond description of all the stories lost forever at the passing of this generation. I think it should be taught in schools ahead of all the nonsense that's out there. When these people talk about the way this country has changed there sad that all these people suffered and died by the million's fighting evil to protect our great country and from the top all the way down are destroying it and were just letting it happen. We need to stand up and remove the corruption and replace it with people of Honor.

I watch these Veteran's Chronicles quite a bit. This one was very interesting. Marcella is definitely an inspiration for all to see and hear. She is so sharp for being 100 yrs old. I have so much respect for our Veteran's, they sacrificed so much. I was in the Army myself and my Uncle's were all in WWII. In fact one of them was on the last Aircraft Carrier that was sunk in the war. It was hit by two Kamakazi planes. After the 2nd plane they had to abandon ship. He was in the water for something like 8+ hours and was then finally picked up. He swam to a fire ring in the water, then went under the edge of the ring and swam underwater until he came up in the middle of the ring. He stayed in the middle thinking they wouldn't think of strafing in that area. He was right! I am surprised the fire didn't get him with all that oil, but he made it. I have a pic of them pulling him out of the water. He was covered in oil from head to toe, from the ship being hit. I have always been very proud of him. My four Uncles were all in the Navy but my father was in the Army so thats what I did.

What a fantastic story. I've read many historical books and seen many documentaries on WWII. This video gave me an entirely different perspective. What a courageous woman.

This story, in my opinion, defines selfless service. How many lives has she personally saved? I'd guess many. I can't say enough about this true story of service. For her to relive the horrible experiences of war must've been exhausting. Thank you for being a fine example of how others should serve. You're a hero to me.
