Anyone else noticed that the episodes of Classic Concentration between 1987 and 1990 always had each contestant of the opposite gender - i.e. a gal vs a dude, or a dude vs a gal? Apparently it was not until some time in 1991 - I'm guessing around June 1991 or so - that the producers got more flexible and allowed both contestants to be of the same gender; check out the episodes with Terri vs. Antoinette or Brad vs. Steven
I thought it was due to a player of one gender constantly winning and a lack of opposites in the contestant pool. On several episodes of Match Game '77, a male contestant kept on winning, and so another male player was brought in for this reason.
I have always noticed that shows that have two contestants against each other always have opposite genders. The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, Name That Tune, Whew, to name a few, were all like that.
Alex made a reference to the upcoming Combs Feud when he mentioned Good Answer
I’m more inclined to think he said Good Answer because he thought it was a good answer.
It can still be coincidental.

The same was done when Howard on Whew! kept winning.
