A good synonym for Malleable: Ductile.

If something has feet or indentations then put a flat board down first then the other heavy weight items which are not flat at bottom.

Just use a heat gun being careful not to burn your fingers. The molecules will become active to reduce in size to flatten out. I placed a heavy book on top of my mat for 10+ minutes until the mat cooled. Overall faster, easier and repeatable as needed.

Hey! I really love this video, thanks to your humor but also now I know how to fix my cutting mat! I left hot teapot on it and I was really sad because of what happend with my mat, so Thank You for this video! Did you reheat it again (you said that you may do a second try)? What are the results? I really want to know if it is flat now, after the second sesion! thanks again :)

I did reheat it again and I'd say it's back to 80% flat. With a smaller area like a teapot hopefully it will get closer to 100%. My area was the size of a men's large tee shirt, so pretty big.
Let me know how it worked out for you!

I stand my self-healing mat in the closet and it is now curved rather than straight. Do you have any advice on how I can straighten it out? Any suggestion is appreciated.

His video is the advice & the suggestion? What?
And always store self-healing cutting mats horizontally.

Try this tip i saw on another youtube channel: Place it on a completely flat surface and then cover it with another completely flat object like an upside down table or just cover it all over with books. Then put as much weight as possible on top (it needs a lot of weight for it to work) and leave it like that for a minimum of 3 weeks (i know, its a long time but its necesary). If done right it should get as flat as new

What is up with these people? I bet they all talk in perfect concise robotic sentences. Back I totally ironed the cap out of my very first mat. Cussed myself out, and went bought a new one. But I like your solution better.

I just did. I have a heat press. I am gonna try like 100 degrees, wrap it up with a towel and press.

I left my cutting mat in an extra bedroom during the summer. I had closed the vents in the room because it was really hot and I didn't want to cool the unused room. My cutting mat was in there and it was leaned up against the wall. (I know...I know...it should have been lying flat.) So now the mat is warped out of shape. I'm going to try to get the mat flattened out again. I was thinking I'd just buy another. My sister gave me the mat when she bought a new one. I choked when I saw the prices! I NEED TO FIX THAT DOGGONE MAT!!!!! I hope this works.

I appreciate the use of capital letters, as if to signify your comment as a replacement for the title. I should probably rename it that! 😃 Two years ago when I made the video, I wasn't too familiar with A: the process of making UA-cam tutorials, and B: how to flatten the mat. I was experimenting with both. Still, because of my depression, it was important for me to make something and try to connect to the outside world. Though it is EXTREMELY long-winded indeed!

@@MsButtaSoulFly As an actor and a DIYer, I've come to realize how right you are. That's it about connecting, not just making content. I'm going to try to focus on that this new year.
