- Season 4 Episode 85 of the Lucky Ferals cat family vlog features feral cat shelter updates, a cat food surprise, a new first for Ditto and more including:
Day 1247 - Boo likes to lay in paper. Simba was sleeping under the Christmas tree. The Christmas tree was drooping very badly. I put the new heated pet mat in Hydrox’s shelter. I put new door flaps on the shelter.
Day 1248 - The cats had cooked fish for breakfast with an Oplatek. Someone ate too much too fast and vomited. Simba was visited by a neighbor’s dog.
Day 1251 - Hydrox ate some food. The power on the patio got knocked out because of a wind storm.
Day 1252 - Ditto and Hydrox had food together. Ditto is still being mean. I stocked up on cat supplies at 95% off.
Day 1254 - I was surprised by what I found in a can of cat food. Ditto head butted me and rubbed up against me for the first time.

Dear Lady LF, you of all the people shouldn't be surprised at Ditto showing affection for you! You're usually saying how smart the cats are (Ditto may think of you as just another very large strange-looking cat who brings the food and the water) but he clearly wants to love you.
Ditto is clearly using Boo's playbook: charm the Lady, and fight Hydrox.

Ditto is turning up the charm and loving on you. Hope that he will be nice to Hydrox. Didn’t like seeing Hydrox flinch when Ditto was marking the top step and his tail got too close to Hydrox eating his food. 💙💙
Yes, Ditto first gave Hydrox the stare-down, then proceeded to repeatedly scent mark the step right in front of him while socking him with his tail. Clearly a power play. He's moving in on the old guy's territory...but Hydrox was busy eating, and he wasn't having too much of it.

I was thinking about the can of food. Maybe it was at the end of the line and it sputtered when it filled the can. Because you didn't say the can was puffed up at the lid. Just a thought.
That's what I thought, too. In any case, it should have been caught in quality control (weighing) before it left the plant.
I wish my cats would eat cooked fish. Ditto’s hinting at getting an exclusive shelter like Hydrox . He is probably jealous of Hydrox which is probably why ditto attacks him.
Ditto doesn't look hungry. He just looks passive aggressive territorial. Hydroxy just isn't interested in a battle. He just wants to eat.

I think that Ditto worries about Hydrox when he feels Hydrox is not feeling well,,,,,,and perhaps that is why he sometimes acts out,,,,,perhaps caring about another is something new for Ditto,,,

I think Ditto is trying (in vain) to butter you up. It's lovely that he is being so friendly to you and he has a nice purr. He's just going to have to be satisfied with regular food and water plus a warm shelter to sleep in. Sorry Ditto the Inn is full.

FYI - The cats talk in human voices every night when you are sleeping. There was a huge argument with Stella and Boo, she accused him of making the humongous ferragamo in the litter box and not covering it up.

The can of cat food looks like it was expelled at with the last bit of ground food. This happens with an old cookie press I use and the last bit of dough left is a ring around the cylinder and the plunger is clean. Just a guess, but the cat food looks fresh.

15:17 That's like 2 product holds in 1 can. Definitely contact the company. Preferably with pictures and any production stamps that may be on the can. There should be a stamp on the bottom of the can the company can use to trace it back to where and when it was produced so they can investigate.
As for it being dangerous. Probably not. Looks like what ever extrudes the pate into the can just ran out of pate. I've gotten 1 or 2 cans like that.
@Doris Johnson It's kinda weird. If that was our stuff that would have prompted a hold almost immediately and if it got out of the facility a track and trace operation to get the product back and destroy it. Guess the rules for pet food aren't as strict. There are all sorts of concerns with incorrectly labelled product especially if there are allergens involved. Just last week we did a mock track and trace of a production run from the middle of last month to prove we could adequately do it.
@@TabbyTimeOut You'd think the can would have been caught in some kind of automated weight QC, coming off the production line.
@@patriciamorgan6545 There should definitely be some sort of mechanism to check the weight and act accordingly. Of course those systems are only as effective as the people running them.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ditto is sensing that Hydrox is getting up in years and wants to become the alpha cat. This is how it usually starts with light aggression and then walk away like it never happened. After all, they are wild cats and this is how the cat family behaves. From cats to lions, this is common behavior that is ingrained into them at birth.

LF it must be upsetting in some ways that the christmas tree this year just did not last and it was beautifully decorated, they usually last longer and you were watering it daily. The cats do love having their beds under the christmas tree, Stella always looks happy under the tree. Ditto has claimed you even if there are enough cats indoors, he still can have a nice warm shelter outside but has to stop being a bully to Hydrox. Bullying is not allowed on the patio. You found some of the best bargains at the pet store at 95% off I'd stock up on anything I could. Plenty of cat litter is always useful, crunchies and wet food are always needed after all you feed 6 cats as well as raccoons and possums even the odd feral cat who pops by. You save money where you can when feeding so many. At least the outdoor cats are not fussy eaters they love canned food, Hydrox was really enjoying his food today. Take care.
