- Tyrannosaurus from When Dinosaurs Ruled. The documentary was released in 1996 and it's subject is T-Rex. Its a pretty good watch but it's considered outdated, but the stop motion and practical effects should not be missed out on!
as a kid even now this t rex design IS MY absolute favorite
This was the first documentary on T-Rex that I ever watched, and has been partially responsible for my admiration for the Tyrant King above all other dinosaurs, along with Jurassic Park!
This documentary was a big part of my childhood and I love how realistic the models are, despite them being outdated. It’s like I’m watching an actual nature documentary.
God, the stop motion in these docs looks amazing, I remember loving them because of the unique feeling style they had. Prehistory and the dinosaurs always felt very mysterious which I loved. And the animation looked so real, prehistoric and awesome. And the t-rex depiction has aged pretty well simply because these were incredibly well made docs that paid attention to detai. I mean its a bit shrinkwrapped on the face, but not too badly because its got the keratinised bumps on the head, is decently bulky, proportionally is pretty much spot on, with the tail being properly muscular, the skull shape is pretty much perfect as well, and the hands are positioned right, not to mention it just feels like the intelligent animal and the absolute unit t-rex was both the same time. Just a good doc with some gorgeous visuals. I mean they even show it as a stealthy, intelligent ambush predator, that we now think it was fully adapted to be.
I remember watching this documentary when I was younger. It came with the WDR box set, but it's actually called "The Ultimate Guide: T-Rex", or something to that effect. Still, hands down, one of the best rexes ever put to screen IMO. And considering it's from 1996, that says something ...
Also the environment they got it right because hell creek Montana and South Dakota looked exactly like the Florida Everglades
Something about this model made this T Rex terrifying
When I was a child, I once dreamed of this same Tyrannosaurus, which was appearing from the window of my house... and it seemed that it was looking for me. After 20 years, this documentary is still one of the best, with the most realistic touch. 😔💤🦖
bro SAME THING!
also Big Al
I used to watch this series religiously on DVD. I'm currently watching the episodes for the sake of nostalgia
These stop motion t rex puppets look pretty accurate😍!
They had a foot, and they had a head(s), and damn were they gonna use them to the best of their abilities.
The documentary is actually called the ultimate guide
This T-Rex is scary. Especially it’s eyes!
I knew I couldn't have been the only one to have found this rendition of T-rex kinda creepy
This is original stop motion footage used in The Ultimate Guide: T rex.
woah this rex looks modern
First ever proper documentary for me to learn about the t-rex and this along with Jurassic Park, the land before times and King Kong help me to further enhance my love for this dinosaur even more
Jurassic Park got me into dinosaurs but Walking With Dinosaurs got me interested in dinosaurs.
This has aged better than a lot of CGI dinosaurs of the 90s and early 2000s. The thing with stop motion is that even if the movement may look slightly choppy, the creature itself still looks more real since it's a real, physical object instead of something digitally added that then also needs digitally simulated lighting.
Also I like this T. rex head more than the one from Jurassic Park.
Better special effects than any phase 4 marvel film
Why does this video feel like a nightmare i had as a child?
It definitely stuck with me back when I was a little kid, they way its shot and edited was haunting to me but I didnt know why, I kept rewatching it over and over again. Its been years since I last saw it but now that I rediscovered it here, Its for sure the realistic model and stop motion that gave it that uncanny disturbing feel.
I live the tyrannosaurs design
Ultimate Guide to T-Rex was always awesome.
Ah, Hall Train Studio! 😊
This terrified me as a kid.
As a kid, this was my favorite Tyrannosaurus design, I feel like it's very realistic and kicks the butt of Walking with Dinosaurs' design. In the beginning, you see two Tyrannosaurus fighting each other and neither one wins. But then, at the end, it's so poorly edited that, as a kid, I thought something was attacking and killing the T. rex. I was left thinking, what was so powerful that it could kill a T. rex? And then I saw Jp3.
😨😨😨😨hoy no duermo ese t.rex de niño me daba pesadillas era lo mas real que vi de un documental de dinosaurios igual el rex era el puto amo💪💪
I watched this oldie but a goldie a few days ago. Well,to be precise,I watched the one on mongolian dinosaurs of the same documentary. I realised they used the same footage lol
Recycled clips is what puts me off from watching the other ones. I'm sticking to Tyrannosaurus Rex and Beyond Trex.
Am I the only one who thought it would be a compilation of T-rex getting owned by its prey? Sorry, i haven't seen this documentary
The T-Rex has a lot of teeth.
Can I find this on a Region 1 or Region Free DVD somewhere? I like these Dinosaurs done by Hall Train.
If JP used stop motion effects this would be it.

Someone's got to do a motion-stop style, but with more up-to-date models!
The Tyrannosaurus rex theory if it had feather's or not seems out of date, it's believed the Tyrannosaurus rex didn't have any feather's again. Since it could control it's body temperature, plus it's size. A animal of that size would simply over heat if it had feather's.

Show me where I said it needed feathers. Go on. Not there? I'm glad we've established that. So why did you assume I was talking about feathers? You know, you could have asked me to clarify what I had in mind or something...
Now that you learned your lesson, let me explain what I really had in mind:
The animal wouldn't have looked "shrink-wrapped" in life; the anti-orbital fenestrae should not be so overly visible; same with the post-orbitals.
The skin indeed didn't look like that: it was covered in reticulae--just like the underside of a bird's foot (or the skin of a komodo dragon); apparently, it had no scutellae (shown on the model's front of feet).
We also know the chest needs to be more barrel-shaped; earlier reconstructions didn't account for the gastralia these animals had (and which have been found).
That's the cliff-notes version. There's more, but I imagine with what we know now it would look much nicer!
@@Stickminbasi90 Woah buddy did I assume? I could of thought you meant that. So we just had a bad start let's restart on a good note!

Sure!
would love an accurate cgi remake of this
Whats the name of this documentary
Ahmed Al-Enezi Check the description
Ahmed Al-Enezi ultimate guide to t rex
I like it
Guess now we know what happened to that one Edmontosaurus that got fossilized.
cool
WOW I wish to make a blender remake of this awesome animation. I do like how it looks and how they move but the movement is still jerky as Steven Spielberg said about Gomotion and the sounds are not wild enough and they deserve to be more colorful
These things scream like werewolves! 😬
Too bad it never had other Dinosaurs T-Rex associated with like Triceratops, Ankylosaurus etc.
