Kurt's voice could not have been more perfect for this beautifully melancholic song. I really think this is the direction he was eventually headed. To think of all the music this world missed out on.
I think he wanted to venture into more acoustic music and also maybe mixed with new wave because he loved that style. He was talking to Michael Stipe of REM about doing music together so imagine what that could have been.... so much music we missed out on.... but we do have what we have so....

27 yrs later I still can’t watch without crying. As a huge nirvana fan and a 19 yr old this album had just came out. Nirvana was the band that introduced me to alternative rock they changed the way I thought, dressed, and acted. For me time is measured in before kurts death and after .today taylor Hawkins died it brought me back to April 1994. Yeah dave the serial killer kabalist must have been crushed. And with each death his own lame band score a nice peak in sales. Funny how all the old grunge guys are dead, all but satanist grohl and confessed satanist Eddie vedder. And before you start Kurt was never friends with grohl, he couldn't stand the man. And oh yeah, grohl the sympathy whore also lost his mother. How on earth will a middle aged millionaire cope with such a loss.. I'm guessing the same way I did minus the money. Grohl is the biggest phoney in the music business. I'd do a a little research on him before you put him on a pedestal. He's a fake and a terrible actor. Don't bother reading the early books after Kurt's death..instead watch the documentary the PI Courtney Love hired to provide her with an alibi. But being an ex cop he smelled something wasn't right. And he actually did his job properly proving that almost certainly Love had him murdered, he knows who pulled the trigger and why. I'm guessing they haven't shown that documentary stateside considering how many Americans still buy the official story despite the events in the inquest are physically impossible. Plus if you bought a gun with the sole purpose of killing yourself would you buy a .22, designed to kill rats! And it was very responsible of Kurt to shoot himself in the head and still put the lid back on the needle and put his used works in his little safe box. But the best bit of all was when courtney (when I grow up I want to be able to read) Love actually read the last part of his very convincing suicide letter and she expects ppl to believe one of the most talented and original artists of the 90s would finish a suicide note with the most corny cliche of all time... @@andreaschlapek780 Not really. Kurt didn't like pearl jams style of music. It wasn't a big deal in fact no one ever talked about that. I've never heard anything about a major disappointment and I'm from Seattle. It would of been a weird combo.
He sang other people's lyrics much clearer, maybe because they were not his feelings. He seemed to blur his own lyrics when he sang them, maybe because they were very raw and hit him hard, I don't know but he always seemed to be a little apprehensive about sharing such deep emotions of his own, seemed he couldn't do anything else though because he felt everything on such a deep level. But that's what gave us the poetry. Miss him still. Thanks for giving Gen X a voice Kurt, we were all a bit sick and tired of the baggage we inherited and the world's injustices too.
Kurt passed six years before I was born, but thanks to my dad being a big Nirvana fan, I can appreciate the amazing music they made. Kurt's voice in this whole show just makes my soul happy. It's inspired me to get back in to playing guitar
It's 5:20am. The world outside is riddled with sickness and panic. My lilac purple curtains are turning just a little brighter. The birds have sung their first melody of the day, right as the guitars were strumming their last strums. The music has ended, but the feeling I got from this moment will last me forever.
Just want to say .. I hear your touching words... And I can feel your emotions even louder. Beautiful I just noticed our comments are four years apart but would not be any different if they were Forty years apart. Timeless as Kurt is and will always be..i guess that IS timeless TY
I honestly feel the three Meat Puppets covers on Unplugged benefitted so much from Kurt having Curt Kirkwood there handling the guitar parts. Kurt so rarely ever played songs while not playing guitar and in this one we not only get amazing vocal performances from Kurt but we also get the guitar parts played brilliantly by the original songwriter. It's just great.
This is my favorite Nirvana song.. and it’s a Meat Puppets cover. I absolutely love this song! ❤ I went to a local record store when this album came out in 1994 and bought it as a cassette tape. I’d sit for hours at a time, listening to the songs so I could play my guitar and sing along with them. This was one of my favorite songs to play and sing, not only on guitar but also on a mini keyboard. My kids all grew up listening to Nirvana and grunge, thanks to me. (I also got them into classic rock like Zeppelin, the Beatles, and more.) They’d always ask me to play Nirvana songs on the guitar and keyboard. This music brings back memories of the 90’s when they were little and I was so much younger (lol). Thanks for the music, Nirvana and Meat Puppets. ♾️🕊️❤️🌻🎼🎵
Probably my favorite Nirvana song. I was surprised I never heard it as a teen in the 90s, but not until like 2016 when sitting in my car. Caught me off guard with how existential it is. You have exceptional taste in music if you're here.
I'm here, November 26th 2024 at 8:41 p.m. Still loving Nirvana and Kurt, just like I have been since their first album release, Bleach on June 15th 1989. My birthday was August 24th and the only present I asked for was the Nirvana Bleach cassette tape. 🥰

one of the best! It was the first song I learned to play and sing on guitar long time ago when I was younger :) After 20 years I have still playing that because people want to hear that. Love it
This is a Meat Puppets song. He wanted to do songs that MTV didn't really want them to do and he did them anyways... they feared the audience wouldn't know those songs but those were some of Kurt's favorite bands, like Meat Puppets, David Bowie... he didn't think lots of Nirvana's songs could be played unplugged... the Meat Puppets songs definitely sound great unplugged. Kurt was the best. Nirvana got me through my teenage/20's years and still does today. I'll never forget those years... the 90's were special in a number of ways... you could feel a change in the air. I agree an old soul gone way too soon....

Who is waiting for Lake of Fire to come now?
i’m seeing the meat puppets in may im so stoked
@@isabellecrapo I like them very much! They have very good albums!
It's already out.
Yeah right isn’t it out?
me
I love when Kurt says: "Cover your hair in your eyes"
And the guitarist do it ❤
Yess
Is the any reason why Kurt asked him if
this?
@@Mysticmimi7 Right before this one of them jokingly said "I'm thing one, that's thing two." You can hear it after they sung Plateau.
@@Talia8208 that's because the two long haired dudes are brothers, they look a lot same😁 they're Meat Puppets who wrote this song, as well as Plateau and Lake of Frie
@@Mysticmimi7 so MTv doesn't see them. They never wanted them to join the set.
Goosebumps... the soft drumming and that guitar too, is lovely.
Nirvana uploading in 2019 is the best thing

I can’t believe they left this out of the original broadcast. Best track on the album.
RIP Kurt.
Your death still echoes. So young. So sad.
Friday's has become "Nirvana day."
If any of listen to punk/grunge; listen to the original songs uploaded to my channel. I’d love the support!
Nirvana for Future

Great idea .. At this very moment it is Friday NIght May 17 2024 and its almost Midnight ,- and Ive been listening to this Beautiful Concert over and over again since 9pm...
So.....YES IT IS !
Thank you for that And Thank YOU Kurt..RIP
Kurt is so beautiful 😍😢 And his voice ♥️ 90's were good times.
This one from unplugged is underrated in my opinion. Definitely one of my favorite of the covers done there.
I wish this song was an hour longer
you can tell how excited kurt is about this one, the childish giddy is infectious in sure he felt like a human being in those few fleeting moments, like someone who fit in and was normal and got to be a normal person
Kurt was enjoying so much playing in that dimension, actually feeling the love of the people around him. A better stage for his career, compared to angry and loud usual one. He was a real musician, looking for some evolution too. God have mercy on him !
Well said
GOD I am quite sure ..had mercy on him. Very well put .Whatever happened - he's in a better place ..Thank you for that -
I absolutely agree.
Its so obvious he wanted a different lifestyle, to be more creative , to evolve, find true love , be appreciated and empowerd by that soulmate(me)lol....
raise Francis ,...just kick back and chill ...
Now you've done it...the tears are rolling down my cheeks.
He was such a sensitive creatuve kind ,loving ,giving himan being who could have done ANYTHING he wanred to...your words were beautiful. Thanks! AND Thamk YOU KURT RIP💜
IT'S been a long time since I've se
en such a beautiful person, and celebrity nare their soul ,while trying to hide and protect it
He just couldnt keep it hidden.
So so sad
The brilliant sound of the guitar comes from the guitarist using a coin as a pick 2:55
Brian May also used a coin, a British sixpence
I used an old 80s UK fifty pence piece but it just used to smash my guitar to smithereens
dudes using a quarter, or maybe another type of coin altogether. it is a touchy alternative to a pick, honestly.
This performance is capable of turning the whole soul inside out.
5 months after this recording .. he was gone...
The Unplugged recording keeps him alive
If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do
I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
And that's old news
Would you like to hear my voice
Sprinkled with emotion
Invented at your birth?
I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse I cannot see
I formulate infinity
Stored deep inside me

Thanks!
i love how he's playing guitar with a quarter..never noticed that
MTV: OK Kurt, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden , Alice in Chains?
Kurt: Meat Puppets
But we as fans were excited about a collab with Eddie Vedder.... And the disappointment was big back in the day.
@@andreaschlapek780 Not really. Kurt didn't like pearl jams style of music. It wasn't a big deal in fact no one ever talked about that. I've never heard anything about a major disappointment and I'm from Seattle. It would of been a weird combo.
Grunge
Meat puppets >>>>>>>>
Well the other groups didn’t really need Kurt’s help and I’m pretty sure he was doing it to help those guys out. It’s just speculation though.
30 years without Cort, R.I.P man.
Big up Cort Cobain
Rip cort
cort is too talented
Cort guitar ?
I can’t get enough of that solo, it sounds so simple yet beautiful
It’s perfect
Heard these songs a million times, yet they cut straight to my soul.

U know me
This is probably my favorite one from the performance. It’s just so smooth. No matter what mood you are in!
It's 5:20am. The world outside is riddled with sickness and panic. My lilac purple curtains are turning just a little brighter. The birds have sung their first melody of the day, right as the guitars were strumming their last strums. The music has ended, but the feeling I got from this moment will last me forever.
Just commenting to remind you of that good ol’ feeling!
Just want to say .. I hear your touching words... And I can feel your emotions even louder. Beautiful
I just noticed our comments are four years apart but would not be any different if they were Forty years apart. Timeless as Kurt is and will always be..i guess that IS timeless TY
That solo is so simple but it makes me cry, a lot
I like the Neil Young-esque that is on the Meat Puppets II album quite a bit, too.
Indeedy! 👍
Absolutely
His brain was unique & that's why I love him
Genius, that's why!
"The results are always perfect, but that's old news." my favorite line in this song.
Thank you mr Cobain and the Kirkwood brothers for this absolute masterpiece
The genius who had the idea of unplugged Nirvana should have statues everywhere in the world
This is a super clean video. This album is so phenomenal it still resonates 25 years or whatever later.
♾️🕊️❤️🌻🎼🎵
Dave playing the drums ever so gently is the best.
Probably my favorite Nirvana song. I was surprised I never heard it as a teen in the 90s, but not until like 2016 when sitting in my car. Caught me off guard with how existential it is. You have exceptional taste in music if you're here.
Actually this is a Meat Puppets song from 1984
Best MTV Unplugged song.
All at the pinnacle of their talents ...and so beautiful....did you ever see such a bunch of beautiful men.
Literally one of my favorite songs, if not my favorite, from this performance.
This performance was phenomenal. Still listen to the album every month
The vocal harmonies are 🔥
@Evelyn 21 y.o - check my vidéó
They were definitely the two best unplugged by far
I'm here, November 26th 2024 at 8:41 p.m. Still loving Nirvana and Kurt, just like I have been since their first album release, Bleach on June 15th 1989. My birthday was August 24th and the only present I asked for was the Nirvana Bleach cassette tape. 🥰
This song has the most amazing flow. Incredibly soothing.
I love seeing Nirvana and Kurt in HD!
I was 9 years old when I started to listen to this. Now I'm 38 and still listening to it

This is my absolute favorite song I've heard kurt sing. It never gets old. It's perfect
Its been 27 years today since Kurt died, he has been gone as long as he was alive. "RIP" Kurt we all miss you and wish you were still here making us smile, you were one of the greatest musicians that ever lived and I just hope that wherever you are your at peace. Your legacy will always live forever Kurt you were the best to do it.
notifications from nirvana are the best things of this year, i swear
Who was so blessed to see this live on MTV? Me! 😊❤️🔥💫🦋 We miss you, Kurt! Gone, but NEVER forgotten, luv. 😔
Todo el unplugged de nirvana, cada cancion es una obra de arte. Es un desenchufado espectacular.
Nirvana posting on 2019 really makes me so happy
one of the best! It was the first song I learned to play and sing on guitar long time ago when I was younger :) After 20 years I have still playing that because people want to hear that. Love it
Kurdt, the world dearly misses you, your music, and your unvarnished truth!
Happy 54th Birthday Kurdt!
1:22 that Curt Kirkwood solo just hit my soul s/o the Meat Puppets Kurt killed that. 😢
The greatest rock performance done in an office chair❤
We all love him,
cant stop coming back
just to see his face again
his face again
still gives me goosebumps... easily one of their best performances ever ❤️🩹
The way Kurt sung 'would you like to hear my voice sprinkled with emotion' gets me every time! 🤤
He's so emotionally moving - whoever thinks the lyrics are nonsense are morons, damn, another genius of a musician and old soul gone too soon 😢
an old soul indeed
Not his song and Kurt is a moron? Because he was the one who said his lyrics were nonsense L fan
Written by Curt Kirkwood (the guy @ 0:13).
I recorded this unplugged and pretty much watched this every single day in my teens. When this song dropped on the album I was blown away.
Not only great music but pure Legend. Their depth dark side was Simply Amazing. Fantastic One of the best Unplugged ever recorded, miss u Kurt
