  • Thank you for watching my video on my time traveling in Guilin China! The first time I visited Guilin China was back in the summer of 2012. This trip was a fun and unique experience. I saw and did things in Guilin this time around that I didn't see or do before. Winter isn't the best time to visit Guilin, but it is still an interesting time to visit. I was captivated by the Guilin mountains peaking through the fog along the Li river. I also went further down the river to visit Yangshuo, which is a must visit if you are in Guilin! I would love to return to Guilin once again in the future with hot and sunny weather!

    Nice! You did some of the same things we did in October, 2019, Flute Cave, Sun and Moon Pagodas and the Li River motorized raft ride. The Lijiang Rice Terraces are also a must in this area, we took a small gondola riding to the top of a mountain.

    That village that you stopped off and had the honey, is pretty cool. I didn’t do anything like that. I took the boat from Guilin to Yangshuo, the opposite of you I supposed so skipped the bamboo boats. Great vlog as usual.

    Nice video and happy Chinese New Year! Well, so the magnificent mountains in Guilin are not formed by volcanic eruptions. It's carved by the same geological processes as those sinkholes and caves called ‘karstification’. Initially, there are 'soft layers' (limestone) and 'strong layers' (siliciclastics) deposited and folded. Since these calcareous limestones are soluble and Guilin has sufficient water flow and rainfall to dissolve them continuously. After up to 600 million years of dissolution, soft layers were washed out and left those strong layers as isolated mountains. These caves are also karstified by groundwater and after years of re-precipitation of those soluble materials, stalactites and mushroom rocks were formed.

    • @PatMaxAdventures
      @PatMaxAdventures  5 років тому +1

      Wow! What great information! Thank your for adding all these specifics on how these mountains were created. Thank you for the support and happy Chinese New year to you too! ^^
