I am so glad that Sanibel has Holly as it’s mayor…to take care that Sanibel comes back as good as it was. You go girl!!! My husband and I are snow birds at Sanibel Sesta and are so sad that we can’t come this year. I spend my day catching any and all updates about Sanibel. At this time every year we are counting the days until January 17th to come to our home away from home. I can’t look at other places to stay, it just wouldn’t be the same. I watch lots of utube videos on shelling at Sanibel. Told me family and friends that I will be in deep depression in January, February,and March. Take care and keep up the good work. ❤️❤️❤️

I just found your podcast. I got married on Sanibel June 8th 2022, but we stayed for the week on Captiva Dr. I was so hoping to be able to visit this year for our 1st anniversary. I dont think that will happen. But I hope maybe for our 2nd anniversary.
Great interview! Holly is awesome! You guys are too! You keep us "Sanibel Island residents wanna-bees" informed accurately. We are those folks you talked about that call Sanibel our home away from home. We were heartbroken to see the devastation on the island. We were booked for two weeks this coming February at Island Inn and are sick thinking about not being able to go. We know in our hearts that it may take awhile but Sanibel WILL BE BACK, and better than ever! Be safe, be well!
Holly Smith is horrible. They are pushing business renewal. The residents of sanibel love the lack of tourist traffic. Residents of Sanibel cannot get properties fixed. Most places on the island are rental properties that people live off the rentals. Residents and rental property owners can get no work done on properties. People are having to sell stuff at half price since they cannot get things fixed...or cannot afford it. Very wealthy people are buying properties that people cannot afford anymore. The wealthy do not have to deal with new construction laws when they buy developed properties. They can rip down homes and build on the spot easy

Sanebel island sucks. Charge you 150 fine just to look at beach. Never going back
