It honestly insane how fast they put this elite staff together in 1 off-season
Saban was the top poacher of top Louisiana talent away from LSU. Now Saban is gone. Sky is the limit for LSU.
I don't think LSU will be set up to win a Natty in 2024, however, I think LSU will win at least 1 Natty between 2025 and 2028.
My thoughts exactly. BK is building something real nice over there in Baton Rouge
Exactly not next year but definitely between 25-28 we should get one of the 25 class stays together!
Not with brian kelly they wont
@@guineapigclips5205🤡🤡
I agree
LSU hosting Oklahoma at the end of the year is gonna be a wild game
Guys being in the right position in general, some basic D line push, and having some basic tackling ability, would probably have been worth 7 to 10 points a game for LSU last year.
I'm not saying we're going to the National championship, or even the playoff for that matter. But, I do think it's very possible that the unit takes a good step forward.
We had an abysmal defense last year and finished 12th, if we don’t make the 12 team play off this year, it’s gonna be a problem
Believe it or not, it don't matter because it is fact. In all 3 losses LSU had a 2nd half lead in all of them. ole miss went down to final play. Against fsu and bama JD5 and his buds moved the ball at will the entire 1st half. Defense couldn't hold up. Two of those teams come back to tiger stadium where they both lost in '22.
I can empathize with that. The season before we had two losses covered by a total combined 4 points. Of course the mention of that had folks calling it whining lol.
I agree that this past season if LSU would’ve had the services of even their “typical” defense that they would have been MUCH tougher to beat. Of course that’s why we play the games. Skill and execution are required in all three phases and usually for 60 minutes in order to beat a quality opponent. I’m interested to see what LSU looks like this season on Offense and Defense.
RTR
True about the defense yes. FSU wasn’t Hayden’s best game by a stretch and the offense as a whole was not great in the second half at all. Alabama we have a chance even with the worst defense in history if turner doesn’t get away with a blatant head to head hit on our QB. The ole Miss game there is no excuse for. Sure they were a good team this year….still no excuse.
We will not have the bodies required to be a top flight defense in 2024 on the outside of the secondary and especially on the DL but I would suspect we will be an improved defense with the coaching turnover. Even with only an improved defense and not a traditional LSU defense we should be a playoff team for sure. The offense will still be good even though we will have to use actual RB to rush the ball as opposed to JD. We have the young RB to do so and we also have a top notch OL. The way they’ve been building the OL is extremely encouraging. Even in the days of spread offenses etc etc etc you have to have OL to win in big games against big time teams. We just need our other Davis to build the DL the same way Brad Davis has built the OL. I can’t remember a time in my life(and I’m not young) that LSU could lose an OL the level of Lance Heard and it not be a problem whatsoever. That’s a good deal for us really
@@skipgumphrey9579 Straight up dude. The LSU offense will be legit. Nuss is a baller. OLine is top shelf. LSU new WRs are just like the last ones and the ones before them and the ones before them. The RBs are lead by the old man that came in as a walkon. The next 3 are some young guns willing to do whatever it takes to make their mark.
The great shitstorm of a defense wasn't due to lack of talent. It was lack of coaching. Hopefully CBK has it figured out with the great staff he just put together. Tigers set at edge, LB and safety. Quality SEC dudes. In 2 years at mizzou DC Blake Baker took them from 110+ in scoring defense to top 25.
@@tygerfinch LSUs DE/edge is set. Jones, Shand, Swinson and Womack are legit SEC quality. Guillory and Lee are experienced upperclassmen at DT. They are a good start. Need a few more at that spot. LBs are top shelf. Starting safeties are pretty much set.
This might be the best/deepest LSU OLine room I have ever seen. First LSU game I attended
LSU VS ole miss in jackson, ms 1969. rebels and dogs shared the stadium. Neither had an on campus stadium. Do I beat you in the age category?
@@FredPitre-o4bif we land one starter in spring at DL we are looking pretty good!
LSU is just one of those teams that are really good and then one year they are completely dominate and win it all I mean the last LSU coach to not win a National Championship is Gerry DiNardo.
Maybe since they don’t open with FSU this season they’ll win the first game.
LSU can be the new Alabama. Saban always relied upon big time recruits from Louisiana for his dominant teams
saban saw the writing on the wall. When he was at LSU he saw first hand what could happen if LSU corralled all the instate talent. CBK hired a staff that will keep all other D1 schools not just bama out of LA. If a kid LSU wants leaves it will be because he just wants out of LA.
That's true. I worry about UT and A&M being the new Bama (in terms of recruiting our players), scalping players out of Louisiana.... Already started with Arch
@@HMuny55LSU is locking the state down starting with the 2024 class. 2025 is already rolling with in state guys.
@@HMuny55Texas and a&m don’t need to recruit out of LA. Texas has way more talent than LA
@@natef182it’s about equal when you account for impact on teams but you won’t admit it
Still think it's silly LSU has better odds than Ole Miss.
More than silly--dumb!
Offense should be elite once again, obviously not on the level of 2023...but VERY good.
Defense can't get any worse.
Tough schedule. USC, UCLA, OU, Ole Miss, BAMA...😳
Those 3 SEC games have one thing in common. They all in Tiger stadium. LSU in a better spot currently that both sc and ucla.
SEC !!!
If USC would have had a Top 35 defense they would have won a Natty too if you believe that with LSU Josh lmfao. You can't be serious
I think the personnel “issue” is being overblown going into this year, the floor will be significantly raised with the coaching, the freshmen getting more experience and proper coaching, and Blake Baker turning Perk into the superstar he was meant to be
The only thing that really worries me in D-line. The secondary should be highly improved because it couldn't get much worse then it was last year and I trust the LBs. We should be good again on offense as well but I would like to see us run the ball more
@@WispFigment Tigers have the players on the edge. They just need a few more DTs. Tank and Lee are a good satrt there.
In 2025 -2027 they will have top 5 odds to win it all. Period. The class they have coming in next year is straight up dawgs. #1 QB, RB, WR and two top 10 LBs in the country.
UGA VS LSU rematch..... UGA VS Bama rematch..... UGA VS Texas.
.
🎶Mr. Clean Mr. Clean🎶
LSU will be a tough team.
kelly just might be building something huge
The LSU love is mutual, Josh! Never forget the hype video you starred in.
I've been saying that from day one. If the defense was half better, we would have had a chance at a Natty
Yep, I think we squander a chance there....Two bone heads ( BK and MH ) couldn't figure the obvious reasons why the defense weren't up to par.
Always fair and informative. Thank you, Josh!
This year or next year baby
With 12 playoff spots available now I see us getting in, but not winning unless the defense makes a complete in overhaul in one season (very unlikely with how much needs to be fixed). But if we get this 2025 class in the way it’s shaping up we should be ready to compete when they come in and 2026 crop looks just as promising.
In Blake Baker's 1st year as mizzou DC. He took those tigers from 100+ ('21) in scoring defense to mid 50's in '22. Then low 30's in '23. Besides Baker we also took one of the best edge coaches in the country and a safeties coach from mizzou. That's 3 coaches use to working together plus two bootdogs in Bo and godfather of DBU, Corey Raymond. Tigers got defense covered.
It’s not like their defense can get much worse
Gonna be weird seeing A&M in Oct
Kelly said yr 3 is when we would really compete for a natty.
I agree. We are not ready. The following year I would expect us to go for a natty….
I totally believe we'll be in the top 12 at the end of the year for the playoffs.
The offense should be stellar again. The personnel last year was better than it played. It is good enough with better coaching to get back to 10 wins.
As an LSU fan I'm gonna be realistic and say if we don't tighten up we're gonna be lucky if we make a bowl game. We suck
If LSU had a mid level ...like ranked 50th in the country, defense last year they would have competed for the title. That's how bad their defense was.
2024 isn’t the year. A lot of rebuilding in regards to the defense. Offense will be okay, but will take a step back.
You’re really looking around 2026. A year or two for the 2024/2025 class to develop.
We need get some DT's. And then we will be good. But LSU needs some difference makers there.
LSU has always had top tier talent on par with Alabama and Georgia coaching has killed us since the Les miles era I think BK is building something that could be huge
Here as a DAWG fan; I’m curious.
As good any other team in the playoff hunt. If LSU haS just an avg defense this year, theyll be in playoffs
Can you please make a video on USC’s new defensive staff?? How is it not talked about
Bc it's....USC 🤡
Not convinced the defense is going to take a massive step forward in one year. Not enough difference-makers aside from Perkins
Top 5 potential
Defense is getting all the attention over the new staff. Don't forget about the offense. New OC, new QB, and two WR studs are gone. That's not a given that the offense will keep rolling.
All the confidence in the world in coaches Sloan, Davis, Hankton, Nagel and the Godfather.
You must not know the dudes stepping into them roles lmfao
LSU has one of the deepest WR rooms in CFB. Nuss is a solid QB, and will now get all the starting attention and 1st team reps. The new OC was last year's QB coach who produced a Heisman winner. I expect the offense will be just fine.
@@lawv804 Plus Nuss has an entire offseason and summer with that new state of the art electronic training equipment that JD5 said took his game to another level. From the article I read Jack Marucci developed it at/for LSU. Sounds like it is one of a kind. It's something like virtual reality.
Nuss seemed to respond well to playing with new OC. OC/QB coach Joe Sloan is the same dude that had the biggest impact on JD5s improvement. Just check out LSU WRs drafted in the last 10 years or so. WR is never a problem for the tigers.
Not very good we did not get Bussey
Paper tigas.
LSU is Coming
We own LSU 🍢🍢🍢🍢
Fate has played these two teams in FSU favor for sure 9-2 overall record for FSU vs LSU
Avoided LSU for 30 years especially in the 2000s then play a LSU that was in Shambles and barely putting themselves back together.@@williamlandry2451
How non of these College shows talk about Notre Dame? They are Top 10 in recruiting, and they got a couple of big transfers pieces. Marcus Freeman is doing a great job. They are going to the playoffs
going to the playoffs doesn’t mean as much as it used to. you said it they have a top 10 class and they aren’t in a conference they SHOULD be in the playoffs
@@yoc329 the Playoffs does mean something when 130 teams are trying to get their and now only 12 can get in. That's is what most Coaches are going to be judged on.
@@michaelbrooks241 no coaches aren’t gonna be judged on playoff spots anymore since it’s less selective they will be judged on making it to further rounds😂unless you’re a team that isn’t good then maybe a playoff appearance means something to tier 4 teams 😂133 teams can’t make it to the natty as we saw this year when even a p5 undefeated champion didn’t make it. so that shows 133 teams weren’t qualifying
@@yoc329 That was a 4 team playoffs. That was bound to happen when you only have 4 spots and 5 Power 5 teams, plus Group of 5 teams, and Notre Dame. So the 12 team playoffs give everyone a chance.
Great take Josh. For 24 new Def. Coaches will get more out of them, and if they can nab some DL in the portal this team could go places. The culture. In the program is right. That’s encouraging.
The real reason this staff will do a lot better, they know how to work with college athletes. They have a lot more talent than people are giving them credit for.
About time LSU got a video smh
Not very much...
Lol if usc had a top 35 defense they would’ve won the title
As long as Raymond is there the secondary will be a joke
Your obviously a trash Florida Gator fan
As long as they have Brian Kelly they'll be a fringe contender
Michigan would’ve used Jayden Daniel’s like a fuckin carpet if LSU had an actual defence; let’s not get ahead of ourselves now.
🤣
A carpet to put out the fire around Daniel's feet maybe. Because JD5 and the rest of that offense would have been on fire! Just like Josh said in the video, the only thing stopping LSU in 2023 from repeating the success of the 2019 team was a competent defense. With that offence, LSU didn't need a top 10 D, just an LSU historical average defense would have made a huge difference. I am not throwing shade at Michigan, I loved watching their style of football take them all the way to a NC, I cheered the whole CFP for MU. They were by far the most complete team of 2023. But LSU with even a top 50 D would have been scary considering their offensive arsenal.
delusional and unprovable. next.
Michigan finally won something in the last 30 years and now you're yakking your piehole
