  • The ultimate mystery of what consciousness has been explored at length in different schools of thought including science and philosophy. Consciousness is the most fundamental mystery of existence. It is what gives us the ability to experience the world and to know ourselves. But what is consciousness? Where does it come from? And what is its nature? In this video, I will share the insights of Vedanta on these questions.
    Vedanta, the ancient Indian philosophy of consciousness, offers a profound and insightful perspective on these questions. Vedanta teaches us that consciousness is infinite and all-pervading. It is the very fabric of reality, the essence of all that exists. Everything in the universe, from the smallest atom to the largest galaxy, is a manifestation of consciousness. We are all interconnected and interdependent, and we are all ultimately one at the level of consciousness. Vedanta uses the analogy of Brahman, the ultimate reality, to explain the nature of consciousness. Brahman is described as Sat-Chit-Ananda, which means existence-consciousness-bliss. This means that Brahman is pure consciousness, and that it is also the source of all existence and all bliss. Vedanta teaches that everything in the universe is interconnected and that we are all ultimately one at the level of consciousness. When we meditate, we begin to experience this oneness more deeply. We see that we are not separate from the world around us, but rather that we are all part of one vast consciousness.
    The realisation of our true nature as pure consciousness is the ultimate goal of Vedanta. It is a journey of self-discovery and liberation. It is a journey that is open to everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs.

    as I see the Vedantic definition of consciousness, it is the one that illumines our mind, i.e tells us what the mental thoughts are, just like a lamp illumines a otherwise dark room. It differs from the medical definition which says that which makes us responsive to an external stimuli.

    I have deep dreamless sleep because I am a medical marijuana patient. Chronic marijuana smoking suppresses dreams and/or the memory of those dreams. If a person stops smoking for a couple days then the person will dream in multicolor and remember the dream too. I love to fall asleep. The moment just before I fall asleep is the most peaceful moment of my life.

    Dear Madam, I enjoy your videos very much. After watching this video, I would like to make comments. You mention that in deep sleep, both body and mind is non-functional temporarily and what remains is pure consciousness. True. But because of instruments of knowledge is resolved during deep sleep state, we are not, in my understanding, able to feel it. திரும்ப எழுந்த பிறகுதான் “நான் நல்லா தூங்கினேன்” பதில் சொல்றோம். This is a paradox. My second comment is about the definition sat-chit-ananda. Sat refers to existence, chit- refers to consciousness or awareness and ananda- I think is eternal and not happiness. Because “I AM” is awareness and existence beyond time and space limitations, i am eternal. The Sanskrit word is अनन्तम्. This is what referred to as pure or ultimate bliss.
    Thanks for your time. I am interested in your other videos on temples, especially like to know about Kanchipuram temples starting with Maa Kamakshi.
    Hope to meet you in person someday while visiting Chennai. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🕉️🕉️👍👍

    Hi, can you please clarify how are we saying that awareness exists in deep sleep since there is no experience of anything, it seems that the part of the brain which is responsible for interpreting sensory inputs are temporarily shutdown but if it is stimulated enough like a loud noise the brain is awaken and we are aware of the sound

    • @templesbooksandscience8697
      @templesbooksandscience8697  8 місяців тому

      That's when we come out of deep sleep..in deep sleep, there is awareness but nothing else. You don't think or see or hear or experience. Yet you are aware of deep sleep

    I simply love your talks. But I have a serious question...consciousness is a western word and the immediate implication wud be something to be conscious of. ...or like JK said a consciousness emptied of contents. Prajnanam Brahma.. one may transalate as consciousness is Brahman. But one experiences a self effulgence devoid of an observer . It cannot be called consciousness there no saakshi ..wud you agree this swayam jyotis without the triputi manifests one of its infinite possibilities as intent and then as intelligence. I feel none of our categories can be applied to this vadtu...but consciousness is a mere approximation. Please inam 70 years old just seriously wanting to know....blessings always.

    In deep sleep all the senses are shut down. Even the “I” sense is also not there. If deep sleep is the blissful state, who experience this state. For any experience the experiencer is needed. In total awareness the “I” sense will not be there. Then where is the question of experiencing Bliss. One more thing, nobody can point out blissful feeling will be like this or that. In my view there is no question of experiencing in total awareness because “I” and “you” are not there.

    Vedanta never defined consciousness….if there is a definition that means boundary or limits should be known.

    Conversation between Advaita and Vishistadvaita :-
    Advaita :- Hey Vishistadvaita you know I am pure consciousness and rest of this universe is just a illusion or dream.
    Vishistadvaita:- Hey Advaita you know I am eternal along with Lord but somehow because of my bad decision I am engaged in this Maya or world and my duty now is to chant my lord's name so that I will not return back to this world and leave peacefully serving my Lord.
    Advaita :- You fool...if you are eternal how come you don't remember because eternal doesn't change.
    Vishistadvaita:- You too are fool ..Why are you getting trapped in your own dream. Dream something beautiful instead of Life and death or get out of dream right now.
    Hearing the above conversation Buddhist said you both are fool... everything is zero or nothing...no world...no Brahman.
    Then dualists came and they said you all are fools. God has created this and we just need to be slave of him. Let him enjoy life and death of ours .
    😀

    The very fundamental mistake which Advaita does is that it doesn't apply logic. Advaita cannot answer that why ignorance exists if everything is Brahman. For them everything is illusion. If such is the case why those who believe they are pure consciousness after reading Advaita don't go to jungle and give up this body.
    Try to answer below:-
    1.Ignorance is eternal. If it is not then why we have it now in terms of war and violence. Shankara died but the dream world of ignorance continues in reality. It didn't end for those who lived after shankara's death.
    2.Rupesh is Born in ignorance. He reads Advaita and realizes he is Brahman
    From above Who was Rupesh before he read Advaita. What are the chances that he will not be born again.
    Please don't give illogical explanation of dream which Advaita makes people to believe forcefully without logic. No where it can stand in front of logic, philosophy and science.
    Moreover does Advaita checks it's own philosophy on that grounds with which it rejects others. Why do they don't believe in other religions.
    Please think logically and then reply 😀

  • @rupesh_sahebrao_dhote
    @rupesh_sahebrao_dhote 7 місяців тому

    Also please don't say that Advaita connects itself or stands on ground of Quantum Physics. No where does it stand and nobody has accepted that except those people who are promoting Advaita for their personal benefits. Nowhere does Advaita stand in front of logic, philosophy and science 😀

      If you are really interested in knowing what is Advaita vedant i.e.self knowledge and are completely unbiased,read
      Mandukya Upanishad.
      You will know that where the conventional modern science ends, Advaita vedant starts.It is a completely different knowledge not knowable by the methodology adopted by the Modern scientist.Modern science is the study of only the external world through the limited capacities of the human sensory organs during the waking state of a scientist.It does not study the dreaming and deep sleep states of the scientist who lives not only in waking state but also in other states.There lies an infinite inner world that not only includes the whole of the external world but also contains the vast reservoir of memories from the ages ( the past) and also all of the humanly possible developments.( the future)
      You must shed the belief that what is not known through our senses does not exist.( The Charvak philosophy).
      Think for yourself and get rid of the ignorance.
