Lord Jamar opened up to VladTV about new rappers promoting drug usage and being "junkies," which he says has never been cool in the past. The Brand Nubian rapper explained that today, people are raising their hands to do drugs and it's widely accepted in today's hip-hop culture.
Moving along, Lord Jamar said that people need more meditations in their lives to see where their "lines really lie" instead of resulting to drugs, alcohol, and mindless television.

Junkies
No drugs please
Rappers promoting bad life stlyes is nothing new
But I do agree it's getting out of hand when it comes to drug use
getting?
New Royal. Yes my generation was promoting bad lifestyles too
More people need to call these drug addicts out!! Trying to normalize being freaking junkies...and young kids just think its cool. Smh.
JusticeAlong we both know drugs are easier to obtain
Ehhh not all of them but unfortunately it’s slowly becoming a trend
Lmaooooo when he says "LET ME REMOVE WEED OUTA DAT" I died 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I thought I was the only 1 who caught that 🤣🤣
Bruh said wait a minute weed ain’t bad
The end of the day its just music. Music is influential but so are movies and tv shows. If you cant separate your reality from entertainment you gonna be chasing a dream forever.
sfspartan agreed👌🏾
I bet you're white. Hiphop is more than Music
sfspartan
You must be a Pale. It's not just music. It's a CULTURE. Hip Hop is indistinguishable from popular black culture, you dolt. You cannot understand unless you live in the hood.
sfspartan yup
The black community cannot separate dreams from reality for the most part. In fact, nobody can, which is why Caucasians don't make music about self genocide and drug glorification. If they were, y'all would be the same way.
Future the father of this new drug culture
elyons83 wow
Been that way since i was lil. Im a pill poppin animal. Lolll. surp surp. Surp surp sippin n****
And everyone i know still on that tip boy. Me included
Futurw dont even get high
..and Future don’t even do drugs
Pimp c honorable mention
It's very therapeutic to workout without music as well. It gives me the opportunity to reflect on life and train.
"you know what.. lemme get the weed out of there... But MOLLY etc. " Hahaha he was like hold up I love weed
This one of the realest talks yall've had

Lord Jamar try to tell these nuts some truth but ignorance and don't give a damn attitude is killing these rappers and those that follow them
Let him bring a super clear , very inspirational positive album. I'd get it day one
The Weeknd made this shit cool with one lyric from his breakout hit "The Hills"
..."When I'm fucked up, I'm the real me" Like it or not, that was the first time I personally saw drug abuse glorified to such a relate-able degree. I remember The Weeknd blowing up first from it.
Generation of the proud junkies...
2:59 proves Jamar a real one😭
Maxo: Man y'all was smoking crack!
V-lad: Yup!
Thank u lord jamar I def need to meditate and get with my inner self right now
I'm at work.. So I just clicked the video to give Lord Jamar a quick like..
I'm sure he so gives a fuck about that.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 it up for Lord Jamar and the young rappers trying to get resist the craving, all these young people deserve to live a long life and be able to see children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren etc
I'm 40 so I relate to Jamar on that junkie shit. Junkies were cracky and shoot up and that's the worst human on Earth. That's how I was raised. You smoke weed, ok, you drink a little, ok. You do coke you're on the thin line but you smoke crack or do heroin, you're the worst! I don't understand how that changed.
Great clip. Wish there was more conversation along these lines
Lord Jamar needs his own podcast or something
The 1st artist to mention "Crack head" on wax was the greatest all rounder musical artist of all time, the great Lee Scratch Perry who prophesied this in 1963
That battle rapper who Vlad mentioned towards the end of this clip name is Cadalack Ron. RIP....He was actually kinda nice too. Sad he lost his life to drugs. Check out some of his battles.
A lot of these drugs correlate with sex too. I just start noticing a lot of drug lines in rap are followed up with how they fuckin off the drugs.
Yo VLAD just put out the full interview... Peace to the GOD Lord Jamar
I love the Jamar interviews ... I love Brand Nubians but it's cool to get the generation before us perspective
Lord Jamar needs to come bakk to Vlad Tv we need him bakk ASAP, him and Mysonne and few others
I love Rittz! He talks about doing meth, but he's so much more than that. Dudes definitely got some amazing music!
Update the Fredo Santana comments on Twitter...he almost died and going to rehab for drug use.
OK THIS ONE'S GOOD!!!MEDITATION!!!PEACE OF MIND! 🕸🕸🕸🕷
It's funny cus Yelawolf has made a sound about Crystal meth
@BlazinRED21 aka ice cream smh
no malice left way better than mase did. mase tried to shame the hip hop community when he left but no malice just stated his feelings and made the change.
We wasnt bragging about smoking crack😂😂😂😂😂
Lord Jamar is right, you need to meditate NawFR
Vlads generation was gon off them ludes and heroine
I don't down any man's vices, but if you goin hard on the lean and pills be prepared to look like a unwrapped mummy when you 40 or 50
To be fair to the new gen, Wu Tang was rapping about snorting coke, smoking crack mixed with weed, and sherm, mostly Rae and Ghost. That's probably why some of their lyrics didn't make any fucking sense. lol
OMG this guy is still asking old heads the same questions
I like how he says yelawolf knows him. and rittz does all that
I fuck with this Brotha
I would love to meet No Malice.
Ask Lord Jamar about Pimp C
When you have a generation of drug dealing music, at some point you get a generation of drug users
Release the whole damn video man
Quit bullshitting and upload the whole interview Vlad!
lord jamar just predicted fredo santana's death.
basically
damn man damn
and juice wrld's death
“Lemme remove weed outta there.” LMAOOOO Real nigga.
You know what is more important?Parents, good education. I've listen to hip-hop since 8,now I'm 24. Never smoked, robbed or killed even being poor, being in the hood and all.
brooklynborn718 guess what, this "new wave" is doing the fucking opposite and think that shit cool
That’s not true I’ve seen people come from good families all the time and still do the wrong thing
Quila Quila people will fucked up as long as possible, but the probability of someone with poor to no education/parenting fucking up is a lot higher
royalkina one of the reasons I don't do that shit is because I've seen it when shit goes wrong
You was a square 😂😂😂
@4:49 Lord Jamar is 100% right. All that coping mechanism shit is not the way to go. Meditation and getting in touch with your true inner self will bring you some answers because you'll abide to your higher wisdom.
Mounir Baroudi 💯
On some Jedi shit
I feel that
Mounir Baroudi the realist comment on here
That whole "I'm using this to cope" is a cop out for these new young junkies. They are in competition to see who can get the highest. Now look at Fredo, in the hospital singing a different tune.
Jordan Clemons he in the hospital getting the good dope now all they do is ask if you have pain if so on a scale. Of 0 to 10 where is it all you gotta do is say ten and ask for something theyll give it to you once they look at your fharts and ask the dr. Usually they give it to you because its their job to make you feel comfortable i was able to get 4mg of morphine every 3 hours i smoke weed constantly but for the week during my stemcell transplant they kept me good high and numbed the fuck up i aint lieing lmao
Sinner 😕
Realist shit ever! These dumbass love to brag about how much of that shit they take and then want some sympathy cause they're "sick". I have no sympathy for that shit what so ever. Been through it too long. These mfs don't want to change till it's too late
Worse, people in academia who pretend to be HipHop scholars perpetuate the cope narrative like it is something to celebrate or excuse.
So fuckin What? It doesn't excuse anybody! Past or present
There is nothing appealing about drug addiction. Coming from a family with many former addicts and former dealers I know its all bad. The self medicating thing is a lie people tell themselves. Also look at former addicts as they age. People have health issues well into their later years from drug use that happened in their youth. Nothing cool about being a dope fiend.
There was NOBODY in my HS years of the 90s proud to say they are an addict and if you were a druggie nobody wanted to be around it. It too associated to being on crack or coke...if you looked strung out that shit wasnt a good look. I guess if a NEW rap artist said crack was great in orange juice the youth would do that too in this era smh
xDTHECHEMISTx
1993 East High Denver...exactly funking dope heads. With little jeans... But I do like a small xan for a flight.
xDTHECHEMISTx lmfao 3-6 mafia, lil wyte, ugk, jimmy Hendricks list goes on
Lmao nigga what HS did you go too?
Talk about the side effects and the dark reasons behind why you really high all the time..low self esteem, abuse, struggling with identity etc... instead of using the "turn up tarp"
Corn Ball exactly
"Yellawolf knows him" haha
Nestor Zen of Lyrical Shogunz I love Rittz!!!
I searched for this comment lol
Birdman's first record "I need a bag of dope" was all about using heroin.
I remember that song
That early birdman shit
Crazy how fredo is now that dead homie....RIP
First Generation: Selling Drugs
Second Generation: Doing Drugs
Third Generation: The Recovery
Fourth Generation: The Rise
Rappers from the 80s was anti drugs & gangs, rappers from the 90s were pro gangs & drug deal, rappers from the 2000s - 2010s are pro gangs, drug dealing & NOW being junkies so it has been consistently regressing properly.
What About Like the world seems to do.
gangs have changed as well. it used to be all for protecting the community and standing up to the powers that be, now its all about having a badass image and causing havoc to the community
A junkie is never ever cool
I love when Lord Jamar gets deep, when he's not hating he's dropping some knowledge 💎👌
what happened to blunts and forties? you know the classics
Nazario Bazan you know what happened to it
Read "Outwitting the Devil"
"Those who have time to think are the biggest threat to the agenda"
“Lemme remove weed outta there..but MOLLY!” 😂😂😂
Rappers these days are weirdos!
This is hard to look at after Fredo’s death
Yet another reason I refuse to listen to any of these new mumbo-jumbo "rappers"
All you gotta do is keep your eyes and ears to the streets and watch how these young teens out here are walking around like mindless drones.
90s - Dealers telling their selling stories
2010s- The Addicts telling their side
It's not Cool, but early Cash Money B.G. talked about Snorting & Shooting Dope at 15
nuck32 they don't remember that huh
Birdman's first record "I need a bag of dope" was about snorting heroin.
ben1349 Herion was & still is the thing in N.O.
lol that's way back in the day right there
He also later told how he felt his handlers were keeping him doped up in order to thief his money. He regrets it.
My Virgo brother, Jamar. I've been saying that shit for the longest, nowadays people think it's cool to be a crackhead.
Most of the pillheads I remember from high school graduated to that Boy. I think some things just are not ment for man to use habitually.
kids should look at fredo santana. he finally realized the drugs will put u in a box
That dude is crazy, He said straight shoot it in the veins..LMAO
Teens think they're eternal, will live forever, and won't ever die. They take pleasure in being daredevils and pursuing risky behavior, especially in packs in order to get props from their friends. Your skin's not going to be elastic, no gray hairs, perfect vision, etc. forever. Unfortunately, some of these new drug addict "rappers" are either gonna start dropping dead or falling completely off because the drugs have taken over and they're full-blown junkies.
Bro whether your selling or using that shit ain’t cool either way, we as a people need to get back to The Most High and create standards for ourselves first then communities and run that criminal/junkie lifestyle out
I think this is kind of the natural evolution of any popular genre of music. At some point it becomes about the demons that kill all the artists, drugs, fame, mental illness etc. Happened with Jazz, happened with Rock'n'Roll, Modern Pop, etc. We just haven't had any high profile suicides or death by overdoses in hip-hop yet. High profile as in someone like a Drake, or Future, etc.
No Malice. Much respect. Operation Stackyola. By the Luniz. Was the motion in my ocean at a early age.
Side note-. Blair from the show Golden Girls was a
O T. Original Thot. She was 🤔😉😂
Rare Babe' u mean Blanche n yea she was😂
+Jarred Swanson. Yeah. Blanche
People reject the only help that is Jesus Christ
I tried Xanax one night🤔 I thought I came home an past out the end.. nope i blacked out my homie told me I started a crack head dance off since then I was like that shit ain't 4 me
It's a sad time when if you have $ ppl thinks 💯 to be a full blown junkie
sup my junkie 💯 💯 💯
Nigga what?
Wu tang was on PCP and I don't hear much about that. And what are we complaining about, molly? thats non-toxic
lol that's different..them & 3 6 was on all that shit but what they was rapping didn't make the listeners want to do that. This generation is just stupid af
Yea the streets didnt become huge addicts ..i mean you got so many millennials homeless living on the streets... Never seen so many so young in my life esp here in NYC....like its cool to be a smelly hipster bum ...
yela wolf has a song about meth (cystal billy) smdh
Peace out No Malice, you're a real man of hip hop and life
Damn rip fredo. Foreshadowing on his passing
Loaded Lux : " Be A Fan not a Fiend .... "

Fredo just got out the hospital because of xans and lean
I always thought that Lord Jamar looked like the bum uncle from Paid In Full, with that black cap on.
Lmaooooo the dudes name is ICE in paid n full . N ur right theybeinkkklol he said “money makin mitch” And “even Ray Charles can see u got money niqqa”
And now Fredo just checked out the hospital from the Leeeeeeeeaaaaaaan
Method man made the song tickow talkin bout wet in the 90's
Yelawolf made a song about meth its called Tina lol look it up Vlad
Some older people always trying to put blame on the younger generation like all of us young people is not weak mentally and 60s 70s 80s babies also did dumbshit and wasn't good models for their kids / people make their own choices we can't really blame entertainers for other people choices shit go check out the people who raised them,
Look how long it was before DMX came out and said he smoked crack
I almost went to jail while listening to Beethoven.. people use to do drive-bys to songs like Flashlight and Roll Bounce.. so, I don't see No Malice argument
"You know what let me remove the weed out of that" My man Lord Mutafukin Jamar 2017 !!!
I don't do any type of drugs or alcohol....Nothing. And I'm good. The strongest thing I take is coffee. People should learn how to handle lifes on their own
Why would u abuse drugs to get rid of the pain from losing a friend? It’s only temporary, therapist and meditating is not permanent but it hurts less and stays as a small ache where as drugs it lingers forever as a big ache.
