It's really sad that almost everyone in the comments section just hates Massive X for not being Serum. Yes, there might be a couple of features in Serum, which don't exist in Massive X, but also Massive X comes with a whole lot of stuff we haven't seen before and that open's up immense Sound Design capabilities. Would be quite boring to just get another Serum anyways. And it also sounds pretty damn amazing. Regarding the interface - I absolutely agree that a little bit more Animation and representation of what's actually happening in the Synth would have been great. But I'm sure they're working on it, and maybe they just wanted to keep it accessible for people with slower PC's since this thing really is Massive on your CPU as well. Anyways, I'm pumped to see what talented people can create with this once they've wrapped their mind around it. And I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with it as well.
I largely agree. I don't care about adding my own wavetables, because the native wave tables sounds amazing. Fuller than Serum, a bit nastier, which is kind of the Massive thing. The built in effects are the best I've seen in a soft synth, even if it lacks a compressor. I really just want visual feedback and more modularity. It's like a rare steak. Some people might like it, but they are wrong and it's needs a bit more cooking until it's done. The quality of the meat though, second to none. This is something that could be a game changer. It's close. But not there yet.
a true music enthusiast doesnt care about hurr special visual animations. seriously comparing serum and massive is a joke. i tried to say more but i just cant lol
We have like 6 serums. vital is free. Phase plant is just insane in terms of capability. Massive X has new things that push boundaries. But people want generic edm sounds I guess
I bought the plug-in. Here's the thing, the sound quality is amazing. I prefer it to Serum and Pigments. It's full, fat, and has character, as oppose to Serum which is a bit sterile, and Pigments, which can be a little thin. But here's the thing, the functionality of the plug-in needs work. Visual feedback should be the #1 priority of NI right now. Expanding on the modularity of it would put it solidly as a top tier synth. It's close to being there, but it's not there quite yet. I'd still recommend it.
Agree with this, upto Pigments it falls over as you can't visualise what the fx are up to - when it's something as complex as this, having a market that is showing what is happening on each control is vital.
Today I bought AVX CPU and heard Massive X for the first time and for me it is fenomenal instrument that I had for over a year but today I got CPU and possibilities are endless and sound is musical so even if you are just playing there is a good chance that you will come to something new, fresh sound that actually really sounds good. Thank you NI.
Great overview, please keep the tutorials coming. Also, if you can make it possible to scroll through presets with the cursor keys that would be awesome.
Great walkthrough! Thanks a lot. This synth will sooner or later become the true successor of Massive. Loving the GUI and the way it sounds. Excited for the updates. By the way, that sound from the first audio demo on the website (heard at the end of this video) is mind blowing. I really love listening to that piece. So epic and massive, even without drums!
This comment section is priceless. I have looked for a synth that has a rich sound like Sylenth1 or various analog emulation synths and have the flexibility of Serum and this is pretty much it. The missing features are nothing compared to how this synth sounds like, and it sounds amazing. It shed the thin metalic sound of Massive and gained my immediate respect. Something here is done right because I barely use any other synth anymore. Respect to the dev team for taking on such a legendary synth and innovation - in this case being innovative doesn't necessarily mean to have everything.
@@pham4925 I see what you mean, but having third party plugins beef the sound makes Sylenth1 not particularly good, because I can recognize the vst pretty easily within someones production when its not processed. I'd rather have a powerful engine within the vst itself

Maybe a public beta would have helped. You need to fix Massive X or it'll be dead in the water with Serum, Pigments and Phaseplant around. Your competitors ain't exactly sleeping right now.
I tried to examine the MXWT files and they seem to contain some metadata before the actual waveform starts. So right now it seems we would need a tool from NI to do it. If you desperately want a wavetable synth where you can import your own file I urge you to look at Pigments from Arturia.
Honestly I thought NI would do this before Ableton did, but it was the other way around. Ableton Wavetable + native FX has everything I need, and the Push integration alone is worth the price.
Meh, just use serum. There's a 10 dollar a month payment plan if you're broke and it gets continuous updates still for free with new filters and functionality. It's also amazingly visual so you can really understand what you're doing to your wavetables.
A flagship synth like Massive X needs editable wavetables and actual visual feedback for wavetable modes and evnvelopes. And ya’ll need to fix how trash the lfo’s sound at audio rates. Manual oversampling control would also be greatly appreciated.
LFOs are never meant to be bandlimited or oversampled - this adds considerable CPU usage for a generally niche usage. Use the OSC or PM OSC from inserts if you want to have cleaner oscillators to do actual audio rate modulation. There's a number of digital synths where LFOs can go into audio rate, and none of them are antialiased. Like some Waldorf synths (Q, Blofeld, Largo...), for example.
@@EvilDragon666 Sup ED. Modulators as audio sources is an intended feature. In this case they should be band-limited. rationalizing it away because of CPU usage is not valid. A lot of people complain and compare massive x to other synthesizers for not being a granular synthesizer and complain about how lfos sound trash. This isnt a granular synthesizer and the lfos dont sound trash. You just dont know how to use them and control them. To better understand massive and massive x take a sound engineer program and youll realize that massive actually doesnt need to change to your liking since the engine on its own and the routing system makes it superior in sound manipulation compared to other synthesizers if you understand whats going on. If you rely on quick results without investing the time to understand how it works and how to control it. Then you clearly wont enjoy most synthesizers. Go buy a sampler in that case.

NI has confirmed in their feedback forum that there will be visual feedback and animations soon. Unfortunately they also said, there will be no phase modulations for the existing switcher LFO any time soon... insted there might be an additional type of LFO adressing that issue, but this isnothing to happen this year.
its about what you can do with the synth not trying to recreate what you can do in another synth. it has a uniquely designed system for creating animated sequences. thats where it shines. there are cool and unique features. just buy serum and phase plant along side if your so upset. who ever said u could only have 1 synth. each is good at things and bad at other things. learn them all and use them wisely instead of complaining to ni.
Hey Andy, MASSIVE X is an entirely new instrument, with new features, and a completely new sound engine, so there’s no cross compatibility between MASSIVE X and MASSIVE.
quick question. I just found out about this version of massive but i purchased my version two years ago. Is my version obsolete and will it no longer have support from Native Instruments?
I have a few words for you. VISUALISE 👏 THE 👏 ADSR 👏 .The original massive HAS visualised envelopes. How in gods graces did one of you think it was a GOOD idea to remove this?! Massive X otherwise is pretty awesome, i do like the unique sounds that I have been discovering with it.
A good synth is a predictable tool. I can imagine a sound in my head and know immediately what parameters i need to start off with. I can switch between one synth to the other because they all have the same types of controls, a common language so i don't need to waste precious time learning a completely new way of doing things. Massive is a good synth, this one lost me at king kong.
Is it possible to use the performer as a step sequencer? I love hitting "Alt" in Massive when using the step sequencer as it snaps the steps to the semitone. Was wondering if it is possible to do something like this in Massive X?
0:36 Dual wavetable oscillators
1:19 Oscillator modes
2:55 Noise modules
3:20 Filter section
3:56 Insert effects

@@satan_8480 they make things I love to play with
"I don't get the shitstorm" Proceeds to list the reasons why there'd be a shitstorm...
NI has confirmed in their feedback forum that there will be visual feedback and animations soon. Unfortunately they also said, there will be no phase modulations for the existing switcher LFO any time soon... insted there might be an additional type of LFO adressing that issue, but this isnothing to happen this year.
The Durzo Blint negative comments are fake! How much is serum paying you?
great tut!!
for $200 we need visual feedback for the wavetable output and custom wavetable import functions and a higher unison
geiler synth jungs! klingt mega meiner meinung nach. serum ist auch geil und halt mehr DIY
Cool Tut
its about what you can do with the synth not trying to recreate what you can do in another synth. it has a uniquely designed system for creating animated sequences. thats where it shines. there are cool and unique features. just buy serum and phase plant along side if your so upset. who ever said u could only have 1 synth. each is good at things and bad at other things. learn them all and use them wisely instead of complaining to ni.
please make a standalone app. Like FM8
Can we use sample packs from the previous version in X?
Hey Andy, MASSIVE X is an entirely new instrument, with new features, and a completely new sound engine, so there’s no cross compatibility between MASSIVE X and MASSIVE.
Rainforest fx preset inspired the “rainforest” track by tchami? ?
1:47 when ur computer blue screens
Awesome.
Hello! How can I add a new Library in Massive X ?

I Want that komplete wallpaper
quick question. I just found out about this version of massive but i purchased my version two years ago. Is my version obsolete and will it no longer have support from Native Instruments?
Things you should add are , visual feedback elements , import your own wavetables. Other than this is perfect
Does it come with presets?
yes!
Why isn’t there a manual anywhere online for this app?
This thing sounds great but the interface is a mess.
Don’t know if you guys really just didn’t bother adding more visuals or if you were too afraid it’d look like Serum if you did.
It looks fancy but it's really a half ass version of massive which was made a while ago and is much better. Obviously serum beats both no doubt
How did you do the sound of the beginning
Where is the phase in LFO ?
Not for me. All ready tons of VSTs out just like this.
Serum ahead of this easily.
James Bermingham How so?
Arturia Pigments too.
it's different, believe :)
Now I'm asking me if the demo theme was made with serum or phase plant. Jaja
BTW I absolutely LOVE the interface. It looks to me like a modern Buchla in the box.
Is there a way to sync the performers to my DAW's transport?
finish the synth before you try to sell it
@Arina Marina a?
mad i just found out about this lmao
