Cow Parade Emmental Switzerland | Alpabfahrt Alpabzug Désalpes | Countryside life 4K

When the days get shorter and the nights colder, it’s time for the cattle and the herdsmen to leave the alp and make their way back to the valley. The return of the herds to lower fields is one of the most celebrated Alpine festivals in Switzerland - and one of the most beautiful as the cows, sheep and goats are artfully decorated with twigs and flowers. Here, we present highlights of the alpine descent in Emmental region of Switzerland, recorded last year. In Sumiswald municipality of Emmental, the return of the summered cattle is celebrated with a traditional Alpine descent on the Friday before the day of prayer. The cattle, beautifully groomed, with flowers around their foreheads and bellies and embroidered straps with bells and trychels around their necks, are the pride and joy of the farming families.
Alpine descent is also known as alpabzug, alpabfahrt or alpabtrieb (German), Désalpes (French), cattle parade, cow parade.

Schön❤😊I used to live in Appenzell in Wolfhalden back in the 80s, I remember so well the beautiful hikes through the cow pastures in the mountains and the *Bitte schliessen die Tür* signs on the fences. The cows had nametags on their collars and beautiful bells. Such long eyelashes. Blessings from Arizona USA 🦁🏜️🌵😻
