Your sympathy toward Emilia for having lips that look done is honestly so sweet and refreshing. You didn’t jump to conclusions, you did your research and saw that she’s all natural. I really appreciate people like you. My lips are naturally big and I couldn’t love them more. But people always think that I’ve had something done, even though I’m 16. It got to the point when one time my mom was showing her colleagues pictures of me and they asked her where I had my lip filler done. My mom was very angry. Not because I have good lips but because we live in a world where young girls can be pressured to get plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures.

Also, I would love to see a series of “then vs now” with the 90s supermodel (Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Tyra Banks, etc). You are a 💯 correct about America's age obsession. I've traveled half the world and noticed older women looking and feeling strong and beautiful about themselves in their own skin. Wrinkles, imperfect smiles, naturally sagging breasts and downward facing nipples (shown proudly through their tee shirts) notwithstanding. It's just too sad America calls the shots when setting beauty standards some countries do end up mimicking.

Well, the problem with American beauty standards is more complicated than punishing natural aging. There is also a shaming of women who use makeup, skincare and cosmetic procedures. If you go somewhere like France, Argentina or Italy, you will see naturally aged older women and enhanced older women hanging out (together even!), enjoying their lives and there is no judgment from people directed at them. I don't think the problem in America is just age obsession either. There are elements of misogyny and puritanism behind it too. It's interesting how an actress with full lips gets accused of fillers, but how many actors with full lips have this happen?

As someone who had A LOT of “baby fat” that I carried on my face until into my 30’s, your comments about Emilia and Monica feel spot on. I have experienced a very similar change at about the same age. When I was in my teens and 20s, my face remained full regardless of weight- I could weigh 110 or 165, and my face was always round. My eyes appeared a bit smaller than they do now, and I had no cheek/jaw definition due to very full apple cheeks. I’ve never had any work done besides a good facial a few times, but I do take really good care of my face and always have since childhood. (My grandmother insisted!) I also use spf consistently even though that wasn’t a common choice for teens in the 90’s like me due to my mom’s early skin cancer scares from a severe childhood sunburn. I feel that my face has been the most attractive in my mid-late 30’s and early 40’s. (I’m 41.) I stopped eating sugar/most carbs at 36 due to my son’s medical diagnosis, and whoa- what an unexpected difference! I finally lost that baby fat and my face got some definition it had never had before. I think it appears less wrinkled and much more clear too- maybe all that sugar in my very average diet did cause inflammation in my face? Many people ask what I’ve had done since then, and some don’t believe me when I say nothing- but it’s truly a bit of weight loss, healthier eating, and natural loss of that baby face thru aging (finally!!) I would love to get some lip filler, but my teen daughter has begged me not to, and so far I’m sticking to her wishes. But otherwise I’m very happy with my aging face and hope to keep it that way!

Great comment! I'm 23 yo and I have a lot of baby fat all around my face too. People think I'm 16yo. I have to show my ID whenever I go get a drink with my friends. I always get picked from the crowd of my friend for an ID check. And it's worse at work. I have a funny story about it. I was in touch with a new partner via email and phone, and when I finally met with her in person. She was shoked and told me I look like a teenager. For the whole meeting she kept looking at me in a very weird way. I'm taking very good care of my skin and my health. I just need to quit smoking though 😅!!! Your comment gave me hope. I'm looking forward to my 30s to get more definition on my face. Bless you!

Chloe’s always been lean but she did have more body mass than her sister even in adolescence which helps explain how she has filled out naturally. Chloe and Halle have distinct looks for sure (their facial features and body types), but I mean they ARE sisters who often wear similar styling, especially when they were younger. Both have locs, etc.
When Halle's photo appeared, I knew it was her immediately, and wondered if Lorry was purposely including her, but based on her voiceover I could tell it was a mixup and wondered how she confused then. But THEN, when Chloe's photo from that same performance appeared next, I was like ohhh wow they look way more alike here than usual (maybe it was the makeup or lighting?) so I can see how Lorry confused them. And I'm a Black woman myself and a fan of ChloexHalle, so there's definitely no form of "we all look alike" happening with me 🤣🤣 Chloe & Halle were #twinning more than usual there.
And I thought the same thing about the differences in their body types. Halle has always been more naturally slender than Chloe, especially in her hips and legs, so a photo of her makes for a bigger contrast against 2022 Chloe, whereas Chloe's own progression through the years is much more gradual and recognizable as the natural passage of time.

“Obsess with youth” is an understatement in many countries in Asia. In Thailand, many people in their 20s start having Botox and filler and some even get plastic surgery. These procedures are more and more common and acceptable in our society and I am glad that actors and actresses are more transparent about it rather than saying they are all natural.

In regards to older beautiful women in Europe, we see them portrayed as beautiful and sensual in media here. A great example is Itziar Ituño in Casa de Papel. Despite her character being an accomplished police officer and single mother her beauty and sensuality are not undermined. Heidi Klum is a woman who is unapologetic in her beauty and sexiness regardless of her age. While it is expected for women who have had children to mellow this part of themselves here too, i think there has been a resistanve and cultutal shift towards these norms being rebelled.

I wanted to share this Lorry. I had the MSE (maxillary skeletal expander) and it split my midpalatal suture and widened my face, my palate and grew my cheek bones. (Look up jaw hack MSE). Now my bone is growing in. It looks like I got cheek bone implants and a face lift, but I didn’t. It grew the bones in my face. It also grew my brow bones, widened my airways, and my smile. It’s been life changing in terms of function and breathing, but also I like the aesthetic changes (wider smile, more pronounced cheek bones, strong eye support). I had midface expansion and development
That is also an option for people too. It has results of plastic surgery, in some ways, but it’s actually causing your face structure to change. It’s not for everyone but I am very thankful I did. If you google before and after, they have imaging of the skulls before and after and the results are incredible.
